  • Nice price, can these be used outdoors (under a covered patio)?

    • Hi Kearnsy

They can be used in a covered patio area, a lot of our customers use them there.
The only thing to be aware of is the Martec don't cover warranty on this for use outdoors.

Just googling around it looks like you guys normally sell these for $299 anyway…so it's not a $140 saving it's actually $20. Neg for deception…

    • +2

Well they did say the savings was off RRP rather than regular pricing. I guess they could have said save $20 off already low price.

      • +3

I guess they could have said save $20 off already low price.

Yes, that would have been the honest thing to do…but as it stands, the title:

SAVE $140.90 off The Martec Wraptor Ceiling Fan Only $279.00

        …is a blatant lie.

[edit] Title fixed, neg revoked…good show OP.

      • who cares what some invented price that means nothing, that they have never sold at anyway is? RRP is nothing short of a deception to try and make something SEEM cheap. if they never sold at RRP they should not even quote it, specially on ozb.

        • Thanks for your feedback also.

Everyone quotes savings off their RRP.

Look at the electronics industry, no one every pays full RRP for a TV however everyone quotes savings off RRP.

But as I mentioned in my other post I have amended the deal wording to hopefully proide you with a better understanding of the deal.

          Best regards

Everyone quotes savings off their RRP.

Not on OzBargain…as you've discovered, we're only interested in hearing about real, tangible savings.

Look at the electronics industry, no one every pays full RRP for a TV however everyone quotes savings off RRP.

Again, this is not a marketing website purely for advertising purposes; it is a community portal for sharing bargains & deals. A quick search of the site would have revealed that with one sole fruity exception, quoting RRP just won't fly around here! ;)

        • +2

Yep…. it would sure seem that way.

I have used Oz bargins myself quite a bit to buy stuff.

Talk about learning the hard way. :)

Thanks again to everyone for their feedback. I hope we can bring you some more deals in future.

        • +1

just because some (not all) advertise savings off RRP does not make it ok. this is OzBargain NOT OzAdvertising. if you simply want to advertise your products this is not the place for it. if you want to post a bargain then this is the place for it. quoting RRP's as a basis for what we will save is deceptive and dishonest (unless of course you usually sell at full RRP)

your average OzB'er is a little smarter than the regular people you would advertise to so marketing stunts dont go over well.

[edit] Title fixed, neg revoked…good show OP.

as said above, good work and ditto

          It's been a hell of a first day……….. :)

          thanks guys.

If it's any consolation, you do have a good price now it's all laid out clearly…if I was in the market for one of these, I'd buy from you! :)

      Thanks for the feedback.

This was our first time posting and I wasn't trying to be deceptive.
      The RRP is $419.90.
It was $329 a few weeks back went sale for $299.00 and we dropped it for this 48HR sale to $279.

I appreciate your feedback and will amended the add.

      Cheers

that is great info and something you should think about running with at the start of your description, however you went with

At Lighting Illusions the Martec Wraptor Ceiling fan is on sale for 48hr only or until stocks last.

which is somewhat pointless advertising jargon, trying to advertise your name etc rather than the "deal" and to be honest something that 99% of people would have probably skipped over on there way to looking for the bargain.

you have to stop thinking like an advertiser and start thinking like an ozbargainer to get the most out of your time here :)

      Factory seconds.

    • +1

Yeah factory seconds, the new ones have 3 year in home warranty I believe as well.

    • Hi

That fan is a Factory Second and is also the older model.

The ones here are Brand New fans and are the 2013 model and yes you guys are right it does have a 3 year in home Parts and Labour Warranty.

Hope this clears up any confusion.

      Best Wishes.

    Well handled Op.
Good to see a rep that doesn't get all defensive when criticised about their deal.
To improve your deals I would also suggest a google search to make sure you are the cheapest for that product because If you don't, someone else on here will.
