    My first deal post…
Specs didn't come up, so here they are:

    Intel Core i7-3610QM Quad Core, 2.3GHz - 3.3GHz | 15.6" (1366x768) | NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2GB | 8GB DDR3 RAM | 750GB HDD | Windows 7 Home Premium

    • Might want to mention the BR-ROM.

the 1,366 x 768 screen is for the fail

its my impression that they have an FHD screen for not much more

  • The keyboard can also be illuminated and it comes with a handy external sub-woofer for low bass sounds.
There's no end date for this deal, but I believe it will end when they have sold out their stock.

    • I just called up and confirmed that the last day for this sale is the 15th of January

  • Can this unit be upgraded to 16 gb of ram ?? Using 1600 MHz ?

  • I don't know of you can upgrade to that much memory, but here's the link to the official data sheet:

    http://www.asus.com.au/Notebooks/Multimedia_Entertainment/N5…

  • It says max 8GB of memory…
p.s. watch the video, sums it up pretty much.

    • Well if it's a 64 bit Windows 7 I don't see why you can't install 2 1600 Mhz 8GB ram sticks in there because there are two slots for ram. Will call up again to confirm this

      Edit

Yeah the guy there said he can upgrade it to 16GB for an extra $200. A bit pricey imo but hey, each to their own

  • Interesting been searching around the net some sources say it can support up to 16gb and some said 8gb. Causing me confusing.

    Example.

Bought this yesterday for $899 from MSY. Seems to be built well and runs quietly and cool (when gaming). The screen resolution is low but I really don't care.

    • Hi Sleeken. Just out of curiosity did you try to upgrade to 16GB ram?

Looking at MSY the 8GB DDR3 SODIMM is just so bloody cheap, better to purchase it now then later. Even the old DDR2 ram cost even more…. SIGH

      • Hi mate, I didn't upgrade as the laptop is for my mum and she'll never use it! I still have only 1333 4gig on my desktop and that is still just enough for me to get by (gaming and photoshop).

        • Yeah, just thought to make it future proof since its nice and cheap now for the RAM sticks instead of pumping the $$ near FUTURE!!!

      • The Crucial and Kingston websites have memory upgrade assistants.
Both sites as well as the ASUS site say that this Notebook takes a max of 8GB RAM.

I'm not saying that they're 100% correct, but just in case you do go for that, be prepared for disappointment.

  • Asus? Shit support and not built well. Warranty usually takes 3 weeks to 2 months in my experience. SHOCKING and not reliable (I've had to return almost all Asus products I've bought).

  • Price just increased by $100… less than 10 left.
