S$40 (A$30) Voucher for Singapore Airlines Customers in Transit through Changi Airport

1530

If you're flying SQ and are transiting through Singapore, make sure you claim your $40 voucher (~$30AUD) at the information desk. It can be used in all shops in the transit terminals.

I think they upped the offer from $20 to $40 a few days ago :P Anyway I claimed the voucher by showing my e-ticket on my phone (don't need to print it out) and boarding passes (both legs). You can stack vouchers and it expires in 2014 :)

Also I noticed recently you can connect to their wireless internet without having to ask for a login ID any more (connect to #Wifi@Changi).

T&Cs:

  1. Only effective for tickets issued on 01 October 2012 – 30 June 2013, both dates inclusive.
  2. Only effective for transit in Singapore on 01 January 2013 – 30 June 2013, both dates inclusive.
  3. S$40 Changi Dollar Vouchers are valid from date of issue to 31 March 2014.
  4. A S$40 Changi Dollar Voucher may only be claimed once for each ticket issued, either on the outgoing or the return leg of the itinerary.
  5. Multiple vouchers may be used for payment.
  6. Vouchers may not be used with ongoing in-store promotions.
  7. Vouchers can be used in conjunction with Singapore Airlines Boarding Pass Privileges.

Update 1: some Ozbargainers are reporting they ran out of vouchers and are printing more in the meantime. They will take down your email. Please report back what's indicated in their email :)

Update 2: seems like there are now more vouchers to go round.

Happens to booked flights during that period. Good spot! Thank you.

Btw is it $30/leg or $30/2 legs?

Considering that both are on the same receipt.

      • +2

I think you only get the one voucher per eligible ticket. So if it's a return ticket I think you are only entitled to one voucher, which you can claim on either leg.

  • Nice deal. I travel frequently there in Singapore airlines so this will come in handy

One of those mornings when you wake up from the headache of packing up your luggages the night before to this awesome offer! Thanks ops.

Good deal, esp for use in food courts and the like.

While you are at the Singapore Airport,
Don't forget to checkout their awesome tropical butterfly garden,

Might want to add that it's only for Singapore Airlines customers. Won't work for people flying Scoot, Qantas, Emirates, Etihad, etc. Even people flying on Singapore Airlines but booked through Virgin Australia on a codeshare are not eligible.

"All customers transiting in Singapore, whose inbound and outbound flights are on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir (with the 13-digit e-ticket receipt number beginning with 618 or 629)."

    • Changed the title wording "passengers" to "customers" to avoid confusion if you're codesharing with Singapore Airlines. So yeah only if you have a Singapore Airlines issued ticket.

  • +1

Nice one. The t&c's say multiple vouchers are allowed. Might have to put that through the OzB test

    • +1

I put the "multiple vouchers" to the test in 2012 and it works fine. We used the $20 voucher that my wife and I each received and purchased a $39.90 item in one of the stores.

  • +1

Perfect, will be there in May! Thanks OP for this :)

  • +3

Use your voucher to get a haircut at the hair salon that has "extras"

    • lol what… in an airport?

  • Awesome, I'll be in Changi Airport in a few days time and was planning on doing some duty free shopping. This'll make things a bit cheaper :)

  • Damnnnn… I just transit through Changi Airport at 2 JAN and MISSED IT !

  • If I stop over at Singapore (going into Singapore and out), am I still be eligible?
I was thinking I have to pass the transit area, to go out of Singapore anyways?

    • I think you need an outbound leg as well, because they did say "transiting" and requiring an in- and outbound boarding pass. Last time they stamped "redeemed" on both of my passes. But go see what they say anyway.

    • Hi, are you able to report back the result? I too going to stop over in singapore soon…

  • If any one of your transit dates fall outside the date range stipulated you simply get only SGD20. Still pretty good!

  • Sweet, i'll be there in a weeks time! So for 2 people travelling through and back the total would only be 2 vouchers all up or does the return trip count as a separate trip?

    • +1

      Who is eligible
All customers transiting in Singapore, whose inbound and outbound flights are on Singapore Airlines or SilkAir (with the 13-digit e-ticket receipt number beginning with 618 or 629).

      Terms & Conditions
      4. A S$40 Changi Dollar Voucher may only be claimed once for each ticket issued, either on the outgoing or the return leg of the itinerary.

So it looks like each person can get only the one voucher.

No harm trying on both occasions though…if it works please report back :)

  • Excellent .. Just in time!

  • do you have to transit on the day of collecting the voucher?…

Im going back to singers…. but on a diff airline… but singapore airlines e-ticket isnt in my name

I just happen to be transitting to the UK

There's an electronics store in Changi that sells the official Motorola Xoom Bluetooth mouse for S$19. It works fine with laptops.

    S$19 is about $14-15.

Did you miss these conditions or…?

      1. Only effective for tickets issued on 01 October 2012 – 30 June 2013, both dates inclusive.

This promotion is a boost of the standard $20 voucher promotion. I would have never known about the standard promotion at all if it wasn't for this post.

        • +1

Also the $20 voucher (separate promo) is for selected destinations only.

  • Awesome. Just booked a holiday for March and then saw this. Great little bonus! It will help with duty free shopping for sure.

  • Wish I knew about this three weeks ago - purchased quite a bit at the airport, Changi is awesome for shopping in transit!

  • Might be a long shot, but do you know if it is valid with Scoot Airlines? I believe they are operated by Singapore Airlines.

    • Nah, it's only SQ/MI flights.

  • Damn it. Was there yesterday.

  • Vouchers are not available now. They will ask you to fill a form with email and address details, and will inform once vouchers are available. I spoke with them yesterday when I was at changi airport and filled my form.

  • nope…. still available. just got it. bought some alcohol with it. easy. Thanks op.

    • Or it could be possible that i was at changi around 7.00 pm, they might ran out of stock for that day.

  • I too had the running out of stock for the day when I landed at about 17:30 (local) on Sunday. The woman at the T2 information desk said SQ had to print more to give out, but that I wouldn't get one today. I wonder if you can give your boarding passes and ticket number to a friend who will later pass through the airport for them to claim if you miss out.

  • They are out of stock there. Just confirmed.. My bro tried at 2 different Information Desks yesterday between 6:00 am - 6:00 pm on a 12 hour stopover.. they said SIA had to print more vouchers. Anyway was asked to give his email address hopefully they should email it. Valid for use till march 2014.

Wow! that's 2 bottles of Vodka. I was there last month and smirnoff was $15 singapore dollars and bailey's 1 litre was $20. Don't get ripped off at Sydney airport duty free!

  • I was only offered a $20 voucher this morning saying that both legs of my journey should be after the 1st… (I flew out on the 23rd!)..

Anyways it's better than nothing at all…:)

  • Thanks for this! I was bored in Singapore and decided to look into this. What epic timing.

  • Thanks, this is awesome!!! sings hopefully I will be able to claim this when i go pass there! :D

  • Thank you for posting, my daughter used the voucher on Saturday - free make-up for her!

  • In response to the recent shortage of vouchers, I can personally confirm that they have plenty now ;)

  • How many can I expect?

3 passengers with the following itinerary …

MELB -> SG (stay few nights in SG) … then
SG -> HK (stay few nights in HK)… then
HK -> SG (stay few nights in SG) … then
    SG -> MELB

    All flights via SQ …

    • Got my vouchers 2x … Total $240 values for 3 passengers. They asked for arrival and departure boarding passes.

      Thanks Op

I was so happy as we're going to Singapore next month that we could get this voucher, until my wife told me we're flying by Scoot, so this deal is invalid :( :( :(

    Crushed.

  • Just got my vouchers.

  • any one try at duty free shop ?

    • yep bought some makeup and all good.

  • Hope they extend this. Flying through in September and October both ways with them. 2 of us and 3 hours transit each way, so $160 for free would be nice.

  • did anyone have try if you can claim on the outbound and inbound flight with the same ticket. i mean example sydney to bangkok transit in sg, you claim, on the way back , can you claim again for the second time?

    • just back from my sg trip and find out that per ticket only able to claim 1 voucher, so i can not use twice :)
