Hi Ozbargainers,

Quick deal tonight as I have allot on the go. I think this will be a very popular combo as on their own these items sell quite well, I am clearing out these items of items out as a final clearance of stock. Both of these lines will not be restocked by us, so I am moving on the last 100 or so we have in stock at a pretty much give away price. Hopefully I can rid myself of the remaining stock tonight - if not, it will remain as an active deal until all stock has sold.

  • Diarrhoea cannot be treated with tablets that only slow the bowel movements. It can only be relieved by treating the underlying cause such as infection, intolerance or food poisoning. Most of times it stops itself within a couple of days or so.

    • +4

You are correct in your words, but anyone who's had that "feeling" at work or on the bus knows this product will slow the bowel function to allow them to get home or somewhere dignified.

        • +3

Getting hit by said bus home from work would have the same effect. And be equally relevant…

          • -3

@UncleRico: Perfectly relevant as the drugs are being sold in bulk.

            • +2

@RecklessMonkeys: It’s one box of each, one with 20tabs one with 14tabs

              • -5

                @Onemoredeal: True.

Esomprazole is associated with increased risk of heart attack and is the subject of a class action.

So not a great combination to be encouraging with a 'give away price' either

@RecklessMonkeys: That’s great, you all carried on last time he posted it, don’t you have a KFC post to complain on now ?

don’t you have a KFC post to complain on now ?

Not unless they're flogging this stuff too?

            • +3

              @RecklessMonkeys: 14 or 20 tablets are “bulk”?

Thank goodness someone is here to protect the children!

            • +1

@RecklessMonkeys: 20 pack is not bulk. It's standard off the shelf pack from a pharmacy. No consultation nor prescriptions required.

        • +1

Mate you can buy these at Woolies and Coles in an unrestricted quantity under the Gastrostop and Imodium brands. Go lecture them and TGA first.

          • -1

            @spy: Thanks for your note.
From what I can tell, they sell the lesser packs, which is an attempt to limit abuse.

If they post on OzB, I will also criticise them.

            • +1

@RecklessMonkeys: Oh c'mon! For the one who's intent on abuse, do you think a smaller pack will prevent them from buying more especially if there is no limit on packs?

              • @spy: That's really an argument for limiting their sale to pharmacists, who are meant to notice that kind of behavior.

Before, you told me to go to the TGA.

The TGA are now limiting package size of paracetamol due to intentional overdose.

                They also said -
To further minimise the harm from paracetamol overdose, the TGA is encouraging retailers such as supermarkets to restrict sales to a single pack at a time.

So to answer your question - yes.

This is about balance. The best way to limit harm without affecting legitimate use is to limit package size and number.

Some of you seem to react to my critique because it might limit someone's business. Well there are more important things than making a buck.

Do we really want to be the one who sold the drugs that puts someone in hospital?

                • @RecklessMonkeys: "TGA is encouraging" lol to that. The fact remains for the one whose intent on abuse, these are meaningless measures as one can get as many paracetamols from the supermarkets as they want.
Anyhow returning back to this, they haven't limited this one. And it's not exactly a med to get high on. So go to TGA and get them up put a limit on these, and let's talk then.
I genuinely appreciate your concern but people can make choices for themselves based on benefits vs risks. Your endeavours are about helping people make informed choices and I respect that.

                  • @spy: The TGA took time to limit paracetamol , and watched on as 50 young people died.

So it's odd on they will act on this too.

                    meaningless measures

Can you demonstrate that it hasn't worked? Now it's your turn to go to write to the TGA.

In the mean time, your non sequitur that because the TGA haven't yet acted that I should zip it - isn't going to cut it.

Also , How about you answer my question there.

                    • @RecklessMonkeys: "Do we really want to be the one who sold the drugs that puts someone in hospital?"
I've been using it for years and so have the people I know, and we are perfectly fine thanks. I'm a grown up whose happy to make informed choices for himself. I personally would definitely only use this stuff like all other meds as a last resort as all meds have side effects but again it's risk vs benefit for me.

As for the meaningless measures, they are exactly that. And I couldn't give a hoot what TGA does. When did I say I support restricted sales of paracetamol?

I just wanted to acknowledge that your edit said this. Cheers.

You are not the group that I'm worried about. Most people are legitimate users. It shouldn't generally bother them to limit sales a bit.

@RecklessMonkeys: Can you recommend any safe pharmaceuticals that can effectively manage the digging of holes?

              And keep digging said holes?

            • @RecklessMonkeys: "From what I can tell, they sell the lesser packs, which is an attempt to limit abuse."
No sir, thats an attempt to make money. As an example, they do this with Zyrtec 5 packs unless you think that kills too?
Supermarkets, especially the big 2 are renowned for this. If it was a TGA thing, pharmacies would not be selling these as 20 packs off the shelf effectively at the same price.
And back to the where we started - 20 pack is NOT bulk.

Maybe if I’m on a 12 hr flight and don’t have a choice I want to slow my bowel movements

      • Great for my surgeon who performed a 5 hour surgery. Helped me make it through an intestate conference. Of course you exercise discretion as necessary but they definitely have a role to play. Normally I take or two as necessary whilst my natural remedies like honey, vinegar etc do the work. Takes a day or two to go back to normal. I prefer this method over antibiotics like metronidazole which are all about killing your natural antibodies along with the bacteria for them to do their thing. The body then needs to repair its immune system.

  • Someone should have given these to Vance before he began spewing diarrhoea at Zelensky

Does the Hearburn tablets save me from a whinging wife?

    • I get heartburn listening to mine whine.

  • I was on Nexium for years but I recently stumbled across the fact it was gluten giving me heartburn. Worth a try for sufferers.

    • Fact.

  • Mate, I've checked your site but I'm sitting here with a headache. Any deals on bulk panamax or something similar? I can see the 192x Pharmacy Action Ibuprofen 200mg EOFY but panamax?

  • It's coming out both ends!!!
