No NBN, I use cheap mobile SIMs😉
      So only experienced witb electricity.

As long as you stay min of 45d, can take up next Econnex offer

BUT watch those provider restrictions on how often you can claim the benefit!!

There are other offers (Woolies EDR pts with Origin NBN). Swapping between providers can be safest option.

(I've signed up for electricity 6 times with PowerShop with same details. Always got the benefits. But they can get confused between multiple accounts, so i give them a call to sort out any issues.)

(My monthly Belong data credit has run out, so get slowed data at no cost. Good enough to watch catch up TV services. Have been using 2.5GB/d at no cost! With $20 referral credits most months, it can be a free service after buying 1st discounted SIM.)

  • Quick question, if I sign up for electricity today via this offer (moving from EA to Powershop). As deal expires today, do I have to be connected with powershop today or just initiate the sign up process?

    • +1

Sign up for offer now & everything should be OK.
*Deals have ended earlier than expected.(late at night)
(Thats what I am doing now)

ALWAYS take a screenshot of offer, T&C etc from Econnex site!

You receive email of Sign up from Econnex.
PowerShop process your switch & send email of agreement, rates, etc.
Then 10 day cooling off period (allowing you to decide not to proceed)
Connection date is shown in account.

Their App is easiest to use, showing consumption during the day if a smart meter is installed.

      • thanks. Just signed up.

        • +1

I took lots of screenshots - just in case.

  • I can't find any emails regarding the minimum connection days for the January ENGIE deal to be eligible for the Econex $200. Was it 30 days or 45 days?

    • Not shown in any email I've received over years
      Received the benefits every time.

ALWAYS take a screenshot of offer, T&C etc from Econnex site! as I suggested above.

Details of offer here were not same as Econnex site. Got Deal here updated to 45d!

I always stay 45-60d anyway, so doesn't affect me.

Last month was 30. Seems they’ve upped to 45 this month

  • +1

Can anyone share a screenshot of the Jan deal was it still 30 days?

  • +1

Manyo (Econnex Rep) replied to my PM:
"thank you for bringing this to our notice. We will ensure that such thing is not repeated again."

  • Anyone have a screenshot of the terms and conditions they can share?

If you signed up using a different name to what was on previous provider does that mean you won't get the mastercard?

  • I signed up with EA on February 23rd using this deal, but I have not received any communication from them. Can anyone share their experience if they received a response from EA?

    • Never been with EA, switched to ENGIE.
2 days ago - Received first email from ENGIE to confirm switch.

Here's my experience after signing up to this Deal on 23/2 (All electric aircon home, no solar)

[23/6 signed up to Origin offer of $200 Credit. Switched from PowerShop. No Econnex Deal :( ]

[2/12 used Econnex Deal to Switch from Origin to PowerShop (+ $150 credit, $200 MC due)
FEB: Origin deposited $1100+ credit to my bank. (Unused Qld & Fed Govt Cost of Living Rebate)
*Never paid a bill @Origin - Used $200 joining credit + Fed Govt Cost of Living Rebates]

23/2 signed up to this Deal, Switched from PowerShop to ENGIE (+ $100 credit & $200 MC):
28/2 PowerShop said goodbye & deposited $55 credit to my bank. (Unused Fed Govt Cost of Living Rebate)
28/2 ENGIE emailed to confirm switch.
*Never paid a bill @PowerShop - Used $150 joining credit + Fed Govt Cost of Living Rebate

      • Thank you, mate. You're doing well. I’m curious about what's happening in NSW regarding the Cost of Living Rebate. I have only received one installment of the rebate so far. I've switched providers three times since it was announced, but I still haven't received the remaining rebates.

        • Rebates are paid to your account at electricity retailer every 3 months.
          So check with them.

Paid July, Oct, Jan, April (I think)

Switching - your rebate should be applied to following retailer in those months.

Should show as applied on your bills / accounts.

          Received $75 Rebates:
          2 (Jun-Dec) while with Origin
          1 (Dec-Feb) with PowerShop

          I don't check as I don't pay bills!

    @Mango Econnex don't communicate adequately
Need to email confirmation of what we signed up to with Econnex, with offer to switch & T&C
    It's a contract between us & Econnex.

But always received the promised bonus for switching.

Just received my gift cards from a previous deal (November promo). Email is from 'Karta Rewards' - It looks like spam. Check your inbox's people!

    • +2

Must claim them in 30 days and use them up in 3 mths. Otherwise, these eGCs go down the drains.

    • +1

      Haven't received mine yet.
      Signed up 2/12/24.
Did a big purge of Spam last week…
Might contact Econnex or Rep @Manyo

  • Slightly off topic but got first Engie bill and it’s huge!! I get the rates may be different to what I was on previously, but Daily usage has gone from my usual summer peak average of 32/33 kWh per day to over 50 (with no changes in usage!).

    Anyone else had similar issues?

    • +1

      Slightly off topic

No… You're not the first to have this issue when switching Electricity Retailers!

Do you have a Smart Meter?
Noticed your Profile shows you're a fellow Qlder - which usually doesn't supply Smart Meters.
Instead, likely you have the analog rotating dial type meters, requiring a manual read by electricity supplier.
*Requesting an extra meter read - costs you💰

      If not…
Your usage will be estimated (based on other users in your area). Same with Projected Usage shown in App.
*Others are always higher electricity consumers!
It evens out over time, but always a shock with a new Retailer.

Bill will be adjusted after next manual meter read by electricity supplier - which may take months / when switching again.

Many retailers have a way for you to submit your actual reading from your meter.
      ENGIE app:
Select Payment, move to far right Self Meter Read. Need to submit photo of meter reading.

Experienced that when switched to PowerShop first time. Enormous bill. So complained…
Was told to regularly submit meter readings. Bills returned to normal consumption.

(Long ago, PowerShop offered free Smart Meter. I agreed. Never been a problem since.
But means ENGIE & some Retailers bill at higher Demand rate!!)

In a previous Econnex Deal, a person who switched, claimed PowerShop are a scam (they're not), based on high first bill😜
They didn't read / understand the T&C & how billing is calculated.
So left, after paying too much!! They would have received a refund on overpayment.

Far better to ask for advice😉

      • Smart meter yes - so don't understand how this can happen! Its simply impossible for a 2 person household to use 50+ kid per day (and the highest we've ever had before even in summer was 33)

        • Contact them! It shouldn't happen😜
It's such an easy process to bill based on Smart Meter readings.

Did you get the $100 credit from ENGIE?

I signed up to ENGIE in this Deal, so will keep a watch on my usage & bill.
Don't think I'll stay longer than the 45d min.

Fortunately the summer heat has finished. So my usage will be lower now.

          • @INFIDEL: $200 - but still the bill was $275 after the credit! Never usually above 300

I’ve already moved to the next one…… ;)

Just got my rewards for changing electricity and gas providers in Nov 2024 ($ 200 and $ 100 Prepaid Mastercard). I had to download Karta gift card apps to be able to redeem my rewards. In my experience, Econnex has always delivered their promises. This is my third time using them to change my utility providers.

    • Did you stay with the provider until you received the rewards?

      • +1

No one does. The current requirement is to stay for 45 days then you can churn out. However the November requirement was 30 days. I usually stay with them for a week or so over the required time just to be safe. Unless of course a really tempting deal comes up.

      • +1

I'm still with the current providers because my electricity account balance is still in credit (I have solar) with them and my gas had just been transferred a month ago. Had things were different and I had no credit, I would've stayed only to meet the minimum requirements (30 or 45 days, depending on the promo T&C) and then move on to the next provider.

        • @Gorodemon how did you receive the rewards? Was it just an email coming from Econnex?

          • @afayd: They sent email from Karta Rewards pty ltd. I had to redeem it by downloading and using their Karta Rewards app.

Please check your junk mail folder.

            • @Gorodemon: Coz it is your first time dealing with Karta MC. I bought some from BIG W deal last year. After activation, they both just automatically appeared in the App with previously bought MCs.

It is worth mentioning that the only way to access the Karta MCs is via mobile number verification. In other words, if the number is passed on to another person in future, so are the MCs. In the case that one has given Econnex a spare/disposable/fake number, there won't be a chance to change the number, possibly no way to access the MC.

              • @Neoika: 😂😂😂 if you've given them a fake number, there goes your rewards.
