Added IMPORTANT NEWS, possible defected Nvidia 5090, 5080 and 5070 Ti
From Nvidia:
We have identified a rare issue affecting less than 0.5% (half a percent) of GeForce RTX 5090 / 5090D, RTX 5080, and 5070 Ti GPUs which have one fewer ROP than specified. The average graphical performance impact is 4%, with no impact on AI and Compute workloads. Affected consumers can contact the board manufacturer for a replacement. The production anomaly has been corrected.

How to check your GPU:
First, you'll need TechPowerUp GPU-Z, a utility that provides all of the information about your current GPU in an easy-to-digest manner. It also provides access to monitoring tools that provide up-to-the-minute temperature, clock speed, and other information.
You'll want TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.63.0 as the latest version adds official support for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and other RTX Blackwell GPUs.
Open GPU-Z, as this will give you a full breakdown of your GPU's specs on the Graphics Card tab. The key information you're looking for is the ROPs count. The correct values should be as follows.
GeForce RTX 5090 or RTX 5090D - 176 ROPs
GeForce RTX 5080 - 112 ROPs
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti - 96 ROPs
An ROP number less than this is a definite cause for concern, as your GPU will be underperforming. NVIDIA recommends contacting the GPU manufacturer for a full replacement. As seen in online reports, the incorrect RTX 5090 value will show up as 168 ROPs, the RTX 5080 as 104 ROPs, and the RTX 5070 Ti as 88 ROPs.

there is still 5 more days just wait. most of us is waiting still, their all sold out, they got so many to build. The weekends don't count.

I also ordered and still waiting.

    • I’ve asked a couple of times first they responded but towards 10 business days mark the com was not responded no more, I learned that from other poses that this could be the case and they are generally slow.
So despite I do hope for not too much of a delayed compared to their advertised time frame, I also adjusted my expectations. Hence a post like this to learn from other about their progress rather then bugging them.

    Unfortunately techfast is slow,

My post from the other thread (modified)

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/886196

I bought 2 ITX machines at the same time within an hour of posting from techfast.. 26/12/2024
One machine arrived on the 31/1/2025, the second machine arrived on the 7/2/2024 .. thats 6 weeks and one day…

Every machine I have ordered from techfast takes around 4-6 weeks to arrive.. despite what estimations as given..

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/889965
    the old timers here.. know..

    Just wait…

Prices are excellent at Techfast however.. be prepared to wait awhile for your delivery..

I think.. of it more as a preorder… / bulk discount.. there is no ways they have all the parts they need for the hundreds of machines they must sell during these sales..

In the end, everybody eventually gets their machines or a satistfactory resolution.. they (techfast) have been around for years.
Most tech savvy ozbargainers.. know what are getting for ordering from techfast.. its easier enough to do a search and realise all the complaints and dissatisfaction is related to delivery issues..

Even worse, when something is NQR, and the machines has to be sent back.. after a long wait.

In fact..a few of the 8 machines that have ordered and have been delivered to me from techfast, fail to boot out of the box.. and the instructions included were pretty much useless. Loose cables, wrong bios settings etc.. all an easy fix.. for those who are tech savvy..

Why do I and ozbargainers' keep on buying them..!!

Because they are cheap and cheerful… I cannot build a similar machine out of components for the same price, I can purchased one from Techfast.

    Enjoy your wait… may prediction is 4- 5 weeks.. delivery… or about 20 - 25 business days..

They did state in the ad

Our build queue is completely cleared after some longer than anticipated timeframes to complete our Boxing Day orders which were extremely high in number, but I anticipate quick shipping for these closer to the front end estimate mark of the business days we are listing on the website.

I don't know if it means anything though.

    • Appreciate you detailed dealing and experience with them, yeah I’m not putting my hopes up just wanted to see how everyone else is doing.

  • I've also ordered a 5080 build through them and purchased 3 or 4 previously. Every time I have used them they have taken minimum one month, so I'm expecting similar this time. They've been pretty good with any issues and you get exactly what you pay for. I've kept my expectations low for speed with them, I do believe they should put 18 business days or something though which seems to be more the trend going from past experiences and what others have said also.

    • +1

Agree, more realistic estimates will give buyers better idea of what/when to expect and less unnecessary communication.

      • +2

Number one rule in sales when you don't care about repeat business:

        Over-Promise and Under-Deliver

        • I agree, but now I’m being very cautious about what I say here. I was accused of 'poor form' for tagging the sales rep and trying to follow up on my order (I asked if it was possible to speed up the order, but it was interpreted as if I needed to jump the queue). Despite some constructive suggestions, such as more transparent communication, clearer indications of our orders, and ETAs provided at different stages, etc., I thought at least some good points were raised.

        • And yet they have buckets and buckets of repeat business..

For pricing and level of support.. they are basically unmatched… and people keep on becoming back..

Once you taste of the cheap cheeful techfast machine.. its hard to buy from anywhere else..

I think the over promising on delivery times. is just to bait you in the first time….
Once you are accepting of a 4 - 6 week delivery window… there's no issues..

          • @Kelvin: lol, I've seen a few people praising how Techfast's priced well, which I totally agree with, and ultimately, it was precisely what led me to order from them.

Despite how other users said their wait time was, I still hope to see my PC in the not-too-distant future.

          • @Kelvin: Oh for sure, I agree you are getting an excellent deal. Though, I’m with OP on this, all they need to do is be honest about their delivery timeframe to what it statistically is on average.

  • If anyone has received their prebuilt- What brands did they throw in for the ssd, ram, and cooler?

    • +1

I didn't ask about the SSD and RAM, though now I reckon I should have. Can you send them an enquiry and see if they respond? I’d love to know what it is, especially the Hz and CL for the RAM.

However, I did ask about the cooler because I upgraded from a 240mm to a 360mm, only to realise it's an 'in-house' brand, apparently. I probably should've saved the money and just get a 360mm myself.

P.S. I don't think anyone here has received any actual updates on their orders(system auto update means nothing) since no one has mentioned it. So I assume, after 11 working days, no builds have even started yet, at least for those who visited this post.

      • Well, the RAM is going to be 6000MHz because that's what was guaranteed in the listing. Not sure about the CL. I asked and they said they don't know what brand parts yet but my build was a Late Feb/Early March ship date.

      • Any update homie?

  • Two people reported they received theirs. Looks like the 10-14 business days period was only valid for orders placed with an in-stock graphic card. All others need to wait for the arrival of pre-ordered graphic cards.

    Order placed on the 1st.

    1 x Graphics Card: Palit GamingPro RTX 5080 16GB Graphics Card - Pre-Order (ETA Late Feb/Early March).

    • Those were standalone cards, but ill say that I know 2 people that also ordered standalone 5080s that have recieved them, both were sent out on the 6th business day.

      • yeah, I believe those who actually received anything were related to just the GPU, not the builds.

        • I got my graphic card only order in just under 2 weeks..

      • Oh yeah, I misread that post!

    • Hi thank you for the info.

I also did pay for the $100 'upgrade' option to select the Gamerock - 'On hand' rather than the pre-order cards. Mine hasn't been dispatched yet, FYI, was only just told that they are 'aiming to' send this out in the next few business days.

  • I ordered the RTX 5090 system as soon as it went up around 3PM on te 31st, however I have no idea if they actually have the graphics card on hand, luke said the 10->14 businesses days is an accurate estimate for my order when I sent an enquiry however.

    • thanks for sharing please feel free to come back and let us know if anything changes.

  • Also waiting on my 5080 system, ordered on the 31st in the afternoon. Order status on the website is still "Order Placed" despite receiving some texts and emails about the order progressing. Initially my order had the GPU arriving late Feb-Early March, but a few hours later I upgraded the order and paid the $100 extra for on-hand GPU.

I emailed support last week about the emails and texts stating progress, but the website not reflecting that for my order - they said to disregard the processing message, and that they've informed their admin of the texts/emails being sent to customers when their processing times aren't reached. I assume these texts/emails are just automated based on order date, but sounds like some were sent in error? They also still gave the 10-14 business day dispatch timeframe for on-hand GPU builds.

    • +1

Yes, I received a few of those along the way as well. I was also informed by Techfast that they don't indicate anything; nothing has happened yet. Let us know if anything changes? Cheers

      • received an email saying it's in build now - status on website is Picked

        • same here 11:28 am email advised that.

  • I ordered the 5080 build on 31st January, it’s been 13 business days today and the Status still shows order placed. Looking at the comments i guess it will take 4 to 6 weeks, i am ok with the wait times but why not just advertise as such.

    • Counting from the replies, including myself, you are the 3rd or 4th person who has the exact same order date and same GPU.

I have the same indication you have, the same status, 'order placed', where the option to upgrade is still available; in other words, the build hasn't even started yet.
Frankly, I really hope that it won't be that long of a wait. I never ordered something local and had to wait over a month. Excuse me if I am a little impatient; I have 10-14 business days of dispatch time stuck in my mind :)

  • +1

I wrote to them again today and this is the reply i got.

    Thanks for reaching out.

We are currently working through a very large number of orders with complex and time consuming build specifications is taking a little longer than forecast but is essential to be done correctly given the value of the hardware in use. While we can't specify a shipping date or window for an individual order, production and shipping has commenced, and we will continue to produce and ship them in date order, as they are ready, throughout this week, next week, and onwards into the next batch of cards as well.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Kind Regards,
    Caleb

    • Thanks for sharing the com you received. Hopefully, those who ordered the build in the first couple of days will see their PC sent by next week at the latest, if I interpret their message correctly.

  • mines been updated to Built

    • How long was it in the “picked” status? Curious how long to expect once mine gets there

      • it was on the 13th couple days.

    • Did you pick any upgrades to your build? Wanting to know if they prefer to do the standard ones first, probably easier to do the whole lot of exact same specs in one go my guess.

      • I picked upgrades, case, cpu cooler and ship GPU by itself, hopefully, that helps.
paid with Paypal. sounds like its the first orders going through maybe

        • oh, exactly the same to me; upgrade to the case, AIO and GPU shipped separately.

Lucky you that you have gone through a couple of different stages already, whilst mine hasn't been touched yet. My was ordered on 31st Jan too with upgrade to 5080 on hand.

          • @roccohu: Mine has been updated to ready to ship for 3 days and not been sent, was told it was going to be sent Friday but never happened. here's hoping for Monday

            • @Rukiata: Well I started to have a bit of hope when mine changed to ‘picked’, but seems like still a very long road ahead. From what you shared I am not even sure if it will be sent next week, that case it would be at least over 20 working days.

  • Update for those who might be interested.

It is business day 14, sent them an email for an update, only to receive the standard reply they provided to @Sb8822 shown above:
'We are currently working through a very large number of orders with complex and time consuming build specifications is taking a little longer than forecast but is essential to be done correctly given the value of the hardware in use. While we can't specify a shipping date or window for an individual order, production and shipping has commenced, and we will continue to produce and ship them in date order, as they are ready, throughout this week, next week, and onwards into the next batch of cards as well.'

    just FYI guys.

    • I should mention my sister had to wait 18 business days before her PC ordered in may 2024 was shipped, when it was advertised as 5->7 business day dispatch time, so take their times with a huge grain of salt.

      • Noted especially they also said something like ‘next batch of cards’ whatever that means (I cannot interpret that as I opted for the on-hand GPU)

  • Im a 5080 build person. Ordered about 2 hours after the post and status is still in 'order placed' :(

    • I ordered about 2.5 hours after the post and am at the same status as you, 'order placed' :(

  • I'm starting to get worried that the Late Feb/Early March builds won't ship on time :(.

    • A lot of people who ordered on 31st January with the available GPU haven't even started their builds yet.

      • That's why I'm worried ahah :)

        • Mines been built for a couple days and not sent still lol

          • @Rukiata: Ah well, hopefully they send it soon. I messaged Luke around a while back and he did say ETA Late Feb/Early March meant they were going to start shipping those PCs around that time so I'm not sure when I will get mine.

            • @just-human: They way things are with these guys I wouldn't be surprised if he meant meant Feb/Early March 2026 😂

              • @Snoopy113: I hope not 😭. I'm on a trip and I was looking forward to using it when I'm home. Best case scenario they've built everything but the GPU and it's just testing and shipping once they've arrived.

  • My order on 31st Jan just went to build after 15 business days. Will post once delivered to Melbourne

    • Congrats. Bit rough counting the day you ordered as a business day especially when it was the afternoon. Im considering today to be the 14th business day.

    • Appreciate for the update man.

    • Hey man @Sb8822 when was yours changed to built and has it been sent? Cheers

  • I placed my order on 31st Jan at 2pm. There is still no progress and the product status is "Order Placed". My guess is that those whose order status changed to "Picked" today are those who ordered around 1:45pm.
If the product status is "Picked", it takes 3 working days for the product to be "Testing" as far as I can see. It takes another 2 business days to be "Shipped".

    • Not long to go now man I believe, a few of those who ordered on 31st have their status changed today.

  • I ordered the 5090 one on 19th Feb. (since I choose scorptec 31st Jan sad story).
and I got email 22nd Feb:

"Just a quick update – we're happy to confirm that your order has progressed through our queue and is now in the window in which most PCs ship. A reminder that you can monitor its progress via your TechFastAccount. All status changes are reflected there when they occur.

As a reminder, your system's estimated time from order to dispatch is between 2-7 business days (which exclude public holidays and weekends). "

    • status still :order place on account,by the way

  • well, the estimated time is changing,so I think they are coming soon

    • Heads up that I ordered my 5090 system (the ozb specific one) on the 31st of January and my status is still "order placed", so they have a pretty long queue to get through.

      • hmm, I ordered by 6999 with 7800x3d. someone told me earlier price was 5000 with 9800x3d. is that true?

        • +1

Yes but they sold under 10 of those systems total.

    • The emails and texts you are getting are just the automated ones. They honestly mean nothing. Their system is really stupid. Nothing is progressing until you move from 'order placed' on the website

  • Patience…. breath in, breath out, patience ~ they always come in the end!

  • +1

Anyone who received an update please feel free to inform the rest of us who’s curious:
    1) When was yours changed to ‘Picked’
    2) How long does it take to change from ‘Picked’ to ‘Built’
    3) And from ‘Built’ to ‘Sent’ anyone luck enough to have their sent could you share how long you waited again from previous stage?
    4) I supposed no one has received their ordered from 31st Jan yet but hey if you have, share the JOY!

    Cheers.

    • 4) As far as I know, @Poimandres ‘ 5080 system has been shipped. From his comments:
      13/02 -> Picked
      18/02 -> Testing
      20/02 -> Got shipping notification

My system status still “Order Placed”.

      • Can confirm, my order was delivered today (waiting collection at the post office).

        • Congratulations! When you pick it up could you tell us the brands they used for the PSU, RAM, SSD, and cooler?

          • @just-human: Sure, will do!

          • @just-human: I was advised by Caleb their AIOs are in house brand.

            • @roccohu: They might be private labelling another major brand so might be comparable to something or decided to use a different batch.

              • @just-human: Not sure but hopefully performance is okay especially it’s just dealing with a 9800X3D not an Intel hot head. I’m considering the fans lol want to go higher performance fans with ARGB

            • @roccohu: whats an in house brand???

              • @Rukiata: Direct quote from Caleb: ‘ The brand would likely be our own model 360mm’ so yes like our buddy said above it could be anything labelled Techfast better or worst not sure.

                • @roccohu: i have never heard or seen this, they getting it made in china or something? I'm not sure if that's true sounds bit odd

                • @roccohu: Do you know the warranty period for these 'house brand' AIOs?

          • +1

@just-human: I have received my 5080, I did not check what PSU in it, but the ram is Predator 6000hz CL34, 360mm AIO is Deepcool LE720 which I’m very happy that it was used. Windows is being installed atm so more info to come.

            • @roccohu: Let me know when you get more details! If you can, send us a photo too :)

        • Also love to know the details of other small parts thanks mate

          • +3

@roccohu: Finally picked my comp up from the post office and set it up tonight.

            No missing ROPS :)

            • RAM Predator Vesta 2 RGB
            • SSD Adata Legend 800
            • Deep Cool PSU

I'm super happy with it. Just need to get another 2TB SSD to slot in. Very solid well put together machine for an unbeatable price. Hope everyone waiting gets their machines soon.

    • Mine has been updated to Built on the website now, text/email received to say it's in testing. So far a similar time frame to Poimandres, just a week later. I paid the extra for express shipping to Sydney, fingers crossed it arrives by Friday but we'll have to wait and see.

      20/02: Picked
      25/02: Built/Testing

  • Ordered 5090 build at 2:52pm on 31st. Still ‘Order Placed’ 🙃

      • Wow. Did they say on hand like they did for the 5080 orders? Starting to think that the 'on hand' thing was a complete lie at this stage.

          • @Vinodra: Good to know. Thanks

          • @Vinodra: I reached out to Luke on the 31st Jan, after putting in the order for the 5090 build and he confirmed that they had the cards on hand to complete all the orders for the 5090 systems, so they definitely changed the tune down the track.

            • @Celorne: Lukes new message on their latest deal seems to suggest they do still have some 5090s left to fufill builds from the previous deal, so I have unpublished my previous comment. Seems I misintepreted "we had on hand cards with which some systems shipped, and are awaiting the next batch", as they are now saying they still have some.

              • +1

@Vinodra: Seems I "misinterpreted" their latest comment, again.

I have now confirmed all remaining 5090 builds are on hold untill some time in March. Luke said they will provide a more accurate time when they know a specific date. At least the price is locked in.

  • +1

This is just a PSA to remind everyone to check the ROPs in their GPUs, as defects are now being reported for the RTX 5080.

    • Yes I’ll do a separate thread about it it’s all over the tech world.

  • IMPORTANT NOTR: For those of you receiving / received your 5090 or 5080:
Nvidia has officially confirmed that some “early” RTX 5080 GPU models are affected by the same “missing ROPs” issue that affects some RTX 5090, RTX 5090D, and RTX 5070 Ti models. This confirms that every model in Nvidia’s RTX 5000 series lineup has been impacted by this issue.

    Also:
We have identified a rare issue affecting less than 0.5% (half a percent) of GeForce RTX 5090 / 5090D, RTX 5080, and 5070 Ti GPUs which have one fewer ROP than specified. The average graphical performance impact is 4%, with no impact on AI and Compute workloads. Affected consumers can contact the board manufacturer for a replacement. The production anomaly has been corrected.

    • may not influence price on AU :(

  • Is anyone interested in taking over my 5090PC order? I'm planning to transfer it at the order price (6999) +1 AUD. Pickup in Sydney.

  • +2

Update 26/02/2025: I have received my 5080 build with the express post option :)

    • Great news! Out of interest, what time did you place your order on the 31st?

      • it was around 4-5pm mate

        • Huh? Surely that's not east coast time zone? My order was placed at 2:30pm AEDT and it still hasnt been started…

          • @MunkyAU: Yeah wow. I was at 2pm AEDT

          • @MunkyAU: I placed the order at 2pm and there is no progress. But mine is gaming pro. @roccohu bought gamerock.
