HP eBay is having 20% discount again!
Looks like a good gaming config for the price.
NB for those who use eBay gift cards: not more than 8 gift cards or $1500 in total per transaction

Australia Peso is the problem, how a government can go from 1.10 USD to 0.60 cents in 10 years is what makes me sad..
Aud has gone to sht, but it still doesnt mean we need to get ripped as well. Maybe HP need to make less profit.
Easy - just don't buy HP.
The Australia tax only works because we are sheep and keep paying those prices
Save the Housing Ponzi, Save Australia. Oh whoops.
The gov/federal bank literally don't want it at 1.10 to USD, believe 0.73-75 is the target to ensure Australian exports remain competitive whilst still having some purchasing power overseas. Australia runs large current account deficits.
You started looking at computers recently and determined to regurgitate mouth breathers or something?
The parts in the pre-build are already around $500-600 off what you'd pay for comparable hardware if you were to purchase each part individually, and that doesn't even factor in the labor and time to put it all together, the cost of the OS (if that's your thing), and the warranty support.
Hey mate, I'd be interest in a pcpartpicker parts list if you've got one.
@Joker042: Well using Centrecom pricing, the cheapest 4070 Super card is ~$919, and the 14700F is $498… so that's about $1,417 just for those two parts alone. He needs to build the rest of the computer, including the Windows 11 licence, for $374.20. That's pushing it!
Without a Windows licence (ahem… massgravel), it's likely possible to get a cheap case, PSU, RAM, HD etc with that amount though. I'm always wary of budget PSU's though.
I'd personally go for a Techfast (or equivalent OzB build), likely easier to manage and upgrade later.
A 14700F + 4070 is relatively high end no?
I thought you were trolling but you might just be one of those fairies I never believed were real.
It's not comparable hardware. Alienware, hp, etc often have custom motherboards and cut down custom cards with smaller heatsinks, average ram timing, and the list goes on.
You couldn't buy a card as bad as the….20 series? Alienwares top right aftermarket if you tried.
Agree pre built with after sales support OS bundled is now better value unless you tinker your own gear. this is fine
Not 500-600, I recently (Dec 2024) built 2 full PCs (one black and one white) all parts from local brick and mortar stores with these specs:
MSI B550M (wifi 6e +bt5.2, pcie4), 5600, thermalright assassin spirit 120 evo, RTX4060, 16GB 2x8 3200CL16, 1TB Evo Plus, MSI bronze 650w (C tier), case with 4 argb fans with mesh front and glass side panel, and official windows 11 pro licence.
Total cost was just under $1,000.
Yes, there's been similar performance TF builds for a bit less (~$100) but not with win11 pro licence and usually lower tier parts, especially the SSD/PSU/MOBO and RAM.
Also, yes I'm aware AM4 is a dead end platform, but can still drop in a 5800X3D if want, and the budget didn't cater for AM5.
Why not post any of that if you were able to get it all so cheap?
"My Yaris cost less than your Camry"… What are you comparing? Why are you listing irrelevant hardware that again isn't comparable to what is on offer here? What are you trying to achieve?
Congratulations on your build, I'm proud of you.
@Evanlet: Sigh, the point was clearly in response to the other guy saying that pre-builts save $500-$600 I was showing that isn't true.
/Sigh.
@Grish: The custom build spec list you put together is obviously cheaper than the pre-build because its inferior across the board. Now put together a like-for-like pcpartpicker list.
@Evanlet: It's not comparing "this" pre-built (which also doesn't save any where near $500-$600 either!) But rather any pre-built.
@Grish: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/863879
So you're saying the above deal doesn't save any money? The GPU alone cost the asking price.
@Evanlet: According to pcpp there were 4090s under 3k way back in August.
Still, my point is that pre-builts almost never would be $500-$600 below DIY.
That was always my only point, lol.
Realistically their biggest shortfall is cooling.
Followed by Configurability and Expandability.
If gaming isn’t your primary focus and you have no intention of overclocking or upgrading, they offer a viable option… like pizza for dinner.
However, this significantly limits their longevity.
Does it have Windows installed?
yes, windows 11 home
No USB-C on the top. Pretty strange for a modern PC.
You wouldnt buy a case without USB-C up front in 2025, so im not sure how HP thinks thats cool for an $1800 system
Old shell new internals
No extra sata and pci-e, be careful if you want to upgrade
how to get the hp omen 25l glass side panel?
Replace the case.
The only thing REALLY wrong with HP Omen 25L/30L is the case.
The MB is usable, with standard ATX connectors. The only proprietary part is the RGB daughterboard, which is not necessary if you aren't going RGB.
GPU is ok.
PSU is good.
CPU cooler can be replaced if you replace the case, but is fairly good if using their really bad chassis… i.e. hard pressed to find better that will fit in the case as it only fits low profile or 120mm AIO.
Now the bad things about the case:
1. Half the psu intake is completely blocked. other half can hardly breath with fine non-removable mesh. If they opened this up with a full-sized detachable mesh, it would solve the largest problem with their chassis.
2. Only a few fan slots. 2 x 120mm + 1 x 80mm… and the 2 x 120mm aren't even together so 240 AIO isn't even an option. It's an oven.
3. Very limited in CPU cooler options due to available space.
4. IO Panel
If they only fixed 1 + 2 (i.e. extend the opening for the psu intake to full size, and use a detachable mesh rather than glued mesh + add 1 x 120mm bottom, 1 x 120mm front and 1 x 120mm top in addition to the existing 120mm front, 120mm top and 80mm back), I wouldn't suggest replacing the case.
Better off with a custom pre-built imo
Landfill…
Still waiting for a decent 4090 deal
Checked out the other HP products.
The only decent thing I found seems to be the 4050 laptop for just under $1k (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364849796933).
Not sure, but I think there might be better options out there especially with the upcoming 50 series laptops.
This one looks to be similar (the same?) for just under 900. Light on the details tho.

Seems to match this one:

15-fa2721TX
15-fa1113TX
They're different models
I would buy it for $179, not $1791
Where’s the 4060 deal for $880
I used to have 16GB Ram in a computer 10 years back, its amazing we have hit some kind of wall with it.
New PCs in other deals generally do have 32Gb. This one is an older model being sold off.
There is a dearer version of this model mentioned earlier (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/879519) with more RAM and more powerful video card. Out of stock ATM.
Anyway, extra 16GB cost around $70. Luckily, this model has 16GB in a single module.
HP's website says that model is discontinued. Guess we're stuck with the lower quality option
Available again.
Kind of sad, compared to this last year..
