  • Top price, I paid $1000 for a Samsung 32in 1080p not long ago. To be fair the Samsung is awesome and I really did want 32in display @ 1080p

  • nice price. but the contrast is a 1300:1 Contrast Ratio. Worst ive ever heard of.

I wonder if you will be able to clearly tell the difference of the lack of contrast.

Heres a review of the 40" model. Sounds like a good TV for the price. Only major negative being the contrast & HD:

You can't noticeably tell the difference between the 1300:1 and 20000:1 contrast ratios. Those extremely high numbers are "Dynamic" where as their actual contrast ratio would be closer to 2000:1.

I've seen this TV right next to a Panasonic TX37LZD850A and an LG 37LG30D, and of course the Panasonic tops them all - but you are paying close to $1900 for it. I'm sure anyone would be very happy with this set for $999 with a bonus 7" frame. I tend to not to recommend them over the LG, but the LG is $200 more expensive and doesn't have the bonus.

    • Hmz, I can't find this 37" model on the NEC website, the only 37" there is the NLT-37HD1 which has worse specs and is under discontinued models, while the bonus photoframe is via redemption for 3 models http://www.nec.com.au/docs/BonusPhotoFramePOS.jpg

  • Bad Contrast Ratio. (but companies measures it differently)
    No 100Hz/200Hz support
    No 24frames support.

My 2 cents? Its a so so deal.
    Not a bargain.

at $999, i can't see there are any better Full HD LCD, so it is definitely a bargain upgrade. It is a Branded TV as well plus 3 year warrantee, even Sony only comes with 1 yr. Besides, those extra Hz are just calculated fake frames, which makes most movement appear animated.

  • Considering price and everything. It's a good bargain! Just in time to buy it for my Wii.
