Probably because many of those sale fares are recycled Jolly Jetstar Sale fares - deal posted 2 weeks back http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/87777
You do know you can book one way each way ?, and save a ton !
I guess I do now!! Thanks.
Jetstar turns out to be more expensive, but return on Airasia or Tiger/Scoot to SYD then MEL, can also turn out to be cheaper, depending on your dates…
I feel you should put the lowest price with baggage per person in the title or description, i.e $641.62 (3rd Mar - 8th Mar). baggage cost was an additional $82 per person., price with only carry on was $555.62.
Sometimes. It depends on the destination, airline & if flights to Oz are on special.
For some destinations the flight dates on special often precede the flight dates on sale out of Oz (eg Japan flights - the sales target Japanese coming here). Booking those Jetstar flights 1 way is no cheaper in my experience.
Looks like their sale Melb -> Bangkok is $199 each way too, but alas it's not in March.
But it's $249 Jan-Mar though.
http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/special-offers#/?from=melbourne%20(tullamarine)&to=bangkok&date=&sale=&price=Some interesting additions in the Boxing dale Sale:
Cairns-Osaka Return $330 (Sept-Oct) $179 over & $150 back is what I was waiting for to go to a 1240 year old Shinto festival in Oct.
Was $139 to Osaka a few months back. Add about $50 each way from Gold CoastMost fares are on sale only 1 way.
Japan-Oz sale flight dates usually preceded the Oz-Japan flight dates, so often only good for cheap return from Japan.
But there is always Tiger, AirAsia etc Japan to SIN/KL & cheap flight from there.Bought return to Osaka 10min before sale ended. Price was $500 return dearer minutes after sale.
But food & baggage charges where so much dearer than my flight last year: $53 for 1 meal with 1 hot & 1 cold drink; 15Kg baggage $60 each way. (Adding Starter Plus for $55 includes food on international flight, seat allocation ($7), Qantas points (4500 in my flight - about $30 worth) and no fee to change ticket.) If your carry-on is over 10Kg, there is a $160 fee!!
Will bring some snacks in my pockets, water bottle, wear on most of my clothes, & just 10Kg carry-on (6 week holiday) to save about $230!
sounds expensive as their current sale has $199 flights to Singapore.
Weirdly enough no one posted the jetstar sale
