Opps, my onepass $20…….. shittt. can I get that back? I used onepass only for catch, I don't want, kmart, target, since can do c&c

    • Now you know why they give it to half price $20, lets see how many dislike you are getting, that means you are not along

I reckon you might have some luck. It is a significant change in the product offering and Wesfarmers should be aware of their obligations under Australian Consumer Law. OTOH, if you leave, you'll miss out on whatever sweetener comes next. It could nothing, could be made available to everyone or it could be good. Who knows?

Turned to sh*t after they changed the business model to a department store. Should’ve just stayed small offering those once off deals.

  • I bought a new laptop from catch about a month ago. What can be expected in terms of warranty now?

    • Manufacturer will assume warranty.

  • +1

Glad I didn't end up buying a OnePass subscription.
I missed the old "Catch of the Day". Last thing we needed was yet another marketplace.

  • I just bought a catch connect 12months starter pack via catch last month. I only want to activate the new sim later half this year. wonder if this will be affected

so wasted the onepass purchase even it is only $20

  • still waiting for my refund from last order. hope they settle before end date

  • Gonna miss it. I remember there was a really good deal for morning fresh soap and I bought over 100.

So…. OnePass price reduction? I mean, free shipping and Catch member pricing is a pretty significant part of that offer….

    • -4

Guessing the half price promo they run is pretty generous already

  • +2

When’s the fire sale? Might be the first time I get a real bargain since they launched all those years ago

  • To me this more look like a legal entity simplification.

  • +1

Never good when competition disappears esp when it is locally owned

    • -1

It's just badly priced garbage you can find elsewhere.

      • 80-90 percent of the time it is the same as anywhere else but there has been a number of good deals on catch i'd jump on that where posted on here

  • -6

Who or what is Catch? A fishing store or a phishing store?

    • Next you’ll be asking what Google is…

      • Well, that went over your head.

But you made me remember where the name BING came from=> Because It's Not Google.

  • Noo :( Catch was the only one in my area that I could get practically any supplies delivered the next day! I literally just made an order with them yesterday too.

Oh this sucks… And you're telling me Kmart is gonna take over operations? Hell no! R.I.P Next day delivery and hello 2-7 days delivery and most products will disappear.

I hope another website like Catch appears in the near future. Also most stuff was cheaper on Catch compared to Coles and Woolworths… For F Sake. Now Coles and Woolworths will celebrate this by increasing their prices.

    • +1

Something like Temu Prime, Chemist Warehouse Perks with next day delivery 😂

      • +1

Hell no… Temu for cheap garbage? (Insert throw up emoji here) / Chemist Warehouse for medicine at rip off prices compared to other stores? (Insert yet another throw up emoji here). Also Chemist Warehouse is getting too strict to get anything delivered these days… Most stuff is becoming "click and collect" I feel sorry for the people that really need medicine due to this.

  • The only few things I'm gonna miss with catch is:

    • Getting cleaning supplies or anything related to supplies delivered in 1 day!
    • Using Afterpay on the platform to get supplies because Woolworths and Coles doesn't allow Afterpay
    • Stuff being cheaper on catch compared to Coles and Woolworths
    • No minimum spend! You could practically get a $1 item delivered and if you had OnePass it was free delivery!

Coles and Woolworths will be the only stores celebrating their closure cause now more people will flock to their stores to be RIPPED OFF!

  • From my experience the goods sold and shipped by Catch seemed shop soiled, felt like seconds, and were very poorly packaged for shipping. This was case early on. They improved a little after some time when Wesfarmers bought them but if you wanted to grab a deal on that site it was best to only buy from reputable third party resellers.

  • Lucky i stocked up on bin liners.
If it has one more sale I'll buy enough for a year.

  • -1

    Any deals

  • Time to invoke the Catchbargain reverse takeover

  • +2

I have one pass and had recently started buying from catch again. Bulk house stuff mostly. Often the stuff I buy is delivered by Amazon. The marketplace industry must be a mess.

  • It's interesting given how many other markets they own they'd actually shut this down completely.

I'd have thought they'd have kept the catch name / brand around at a 0 maintenance sort of way that Kogan have done with Dick smith. Just a mirror of another site and keep it running in some capacity.

    • I would say duck Smith had more presence then catch, particularly with the older crowd.

  • +2

Aww. Where am I going to get my yearly supply of Quantum dishwasher tablets from now?

  • Why dont they flip it back to what it was good at?

Literally "Catch of the Day". One deal, once a day, at midday, that was a cracking deal.

Instead of being a marketplace of overpriced junk.

    • Doubt that’s a profitable business model either

      • yeah too little profit if just selling one thing a day even though the quantity is high.

      • Fair enough.

Probably not with their current bloated cost model, but that's why they are losing $100m a year.

They need a turnaround specialist, strip the costs bare, go back to their roots… even make the 'catch of the day' five products but bloody good & at a bloody good price. It was an awesome website… now its a shit show of junk that's virtually impossible to use & the amount of shit they must have stacked in warehouses must be massive. Go back to the excitement of 12pm being when the 'Catch of the Day' was released.

Sometimes these companies can't see the wood for the trees.

        • Their focus is on Kmart and the Anko brand which they are taking global now and selling to other retailers

  • Catch used to be good when they were called "CatchOfTheDay", now I barely use the website.

  • Uncompetitive and seemed last few years didn't give a shit even trying to compete.

  • Good time to stock up on catch gift cards?

  • Hadn't used for years then got a good deal just after Xmas on earphones. Good deal and quality. Planty of same same around.

  • I only found they were competitive for dishwashing tablets with free shipping. I'm not sure why?

  • What You Need to Know from ShopBack with Your Gift Cards and Pending Cashback from Catch.

  • Surprised Ruslan Kogan isn't trying to acquire Catch to turn it into Kogan (Like he did with Dick Smith)

Funny comments on reddit saying they were running their business via google sheet and upgraded over to a excel spreadsheet.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/australia/comments/1i678t7/aussie_r…

    • Thanks for that reddit post. I just went through some of the comments and found a tampermonkey script to auto-hide marketplace crap from Woolworths!

Another annoying comms team at Catch apparently - why is the email titled "An important update from Catch" rather than, say, the same as this thread?

  • I know most of you have not seen the letter so here it is for the first time:

We are writing to you to share an important update.

I'll actually miss Catch. Even though their website is poorly designed (like filtering, sorting, some items only appear if you click on certain promotional banners, etc) but I had a few orders here and there that were great value.

  • Are we going to be a country where the people are going to buy from a few major retailers?

  • Half the problem is the marketplace sellers and the non-enforcement of their pricegouging policy.

Searching for Zooper dooper's…..$17 plus $10.98 delivery….and that's what a potential customer sees when they're looking for a product. It's a huge turnoff.
Amazon has a fair pricing policy which I think tries to mitigate this sort of thing but Catch seems to not really care.

Another product I searched for. Sunkist. 1.25L…$15.64 plus $17.99 delivery. I mean, come on.

If you can't sell it for close to retail price, then why bother? No one is that stupid or desperate (I hope) to pay such exorbitant prices….and it damages the reputation of Catch, even if that's misguided.

    • +1

I've always wondered why they even bother listing products for sometimes an order of magnitude higher than the normal retail price. I suspect it's a method of money laundering.

      • +1

100% money laundering which in today's society means laundering drug money. It's like anything that can be resold quickly for clean cash like Alcohol, Sneakers, Laptops, Electronics. There is a huge ratio of dirty money flowing in and out of the economy that would surprise even the most cynical person. eBay is king of the hill in shady sellers, then comes all these other marketplaces where they can list stuff to be resold, and last but not least, they even set up their own shopify web shops to resell gear.

  • I got my PS5 from Catch back in 2021 when they were still pretty hard to get.
I'll at least give them that credit that their small stock drop of PS5s back then worked out well for me. 😊

  • Farewell to Rivers now

  • They used to sell gshocks from malaysia but sold by catch. I got few turn out they are limited edition. Worn few times, stay in the drawer for a year, then sold on ebay with profit. Lol

  • +1

    when are the firesale ?

  • Seeing as these guys are closing down is there another website out there that accepts Afterpay for getting stuff? Snacks / Cleaning Products / ect.. It's the only reason I use catch due to Afterpay. Woolworths / Coles / ect refuse to add Afterpay… and don't mention DoorDash.

  • Kmart taking over ???
I find that hard to believe … As KMART themselves are winding down.

As per news after last few years.
Infact here in WA … We've now had our LAST EVER services to regional NW KMART stores.

  • What would platform do when counterfeit product is sold on these platform? catch, mydeal, bigW ….
