This previously popular tablet is back on sale and while a bit higher due to the worse exchange rate it's still excellent value. Especially when you consider the non-Matte version sells for $499 at JB Hi-Fi and the much lower end Lenovo Tab M11 sells for $284.99 at Amazon.

While this is the smaller brother of the high-end Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025 it's still an excellent choice for gaming thanks to the Dimensity 7050, as well as general usage and of course media playback with Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix. The Matte display helps to reduce glare from light.

Features include Android 13 with Google Play (Android 14 & 15 coming), 12.7" 60Hz 2944x1840 IPS Matte display, MediaTek Dimensity 7050 CPU with Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, Widevine L1 DRM, 128GB Storage (microSD support), 8GB RAM. 10200mAh battery with 30W fast charging, 4 JBL Speakers w/ Dolby Atmos, 2 inbuilt mics, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, fingerprint reader, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB-C connectivity, magnetic attaching place for Lenovo Tab Pen Plus and pogo pins for a keyboard.

This one has been flashed with the Lenovo P12 Global ROM (though some reviews show CN ROM with ZUI) and given that the P12 is identical except for the non-Matte display this should be no issue. Bootloader is reported to be locked with Netflix HD, OTA updates and Google Play.

  • The description on Aliexpress seem to suggest that it comes with a case.

    • +2

Refer to "Color" when selecting the bundle. The one with the case costs extra.

  • +2

    Thanks @Clear

Does anyone know if the GPS on this is any good? I'm looking for a tablet to use in the car for mapping. As far as I can tell it comes with a GPS.

      NavIC

    • +1

why not just mount your phone and use it

      • +3

If you are using mapping tools, navigation via raster maps or trip planning and similar phone screens are too small (I personally use both depending on what sort of navigation I am doing, phone for simple on road vehicle navigation, tablets for other types of navigation)

  • Does it come with the pen?

    • +1

Only if you select a bundle with it.

      • Whoops - looked at everything except the item picker lol

  • What kind of games would take advantage of this spec?

    • +11

pretty much just non-3D titles, or some emulators… but emulators also runs better on snapdragon chips, mediocre on dimensity chips (GPU optimization differences)

on top of that, this would work more like a browser machine than a gaming machine due to its size and heaviness.

the performance of this chip is somewhere in-between Snapdragon 845 and Snapdragon 855, which is the flagship mobile chip around 2017~2018.. maybe 2019

we are at 2025 already.. that's like the flagship from like 8 generations ago: 845>855>865>888>8gen1>8gen1+>8gen2>8gen3>8elite (yeh I hate their naming convention)

also, FYI, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025 (China ROM) @ AU$348 (deal expired) performance is somewhere between 8gen1+ and 8gen2.

  • Is this good for emulation, android games and streaming games?

    • It'd do a fine job but imo for emulation I'd look into the anbernic or miyoo devices. I've got an rg 35xx h I paid next to nothing for and it's great for that side of things (much smaller screen though obviously)

      • It's obvious you haven't seen me comment in any past handheld posts on here over the past year or two. I've got about 20 or more of them at this point. The reason i wanted something like this is for the bigger screen.

Anyways i seen videos of it for emulation and it seems like the cutoff point of emulation of this is Gamecube games.

        • hahaha, yeah clearly more seasoned than my comment made out.

If you were to choose a favorable anbernic / handheld out of your collection what would it be? I only have a MM+ and the rg 35xx h.

          • @knk: Hahahahaha all good.

Well I like the Rg556, the Rg406v and the Rg cube xx. Also like the Trimui Smartpro and Brick. I have multiple R36s which are the best bang for buck and also make great gifts. The Powkiddy X55 and V10 I also like too. I am going to sell off most of the other handhelds i have.

  • +1

    If only it had LTE

    • +10

Fortunately we all have phones with such thing :) I personally don't see the point in buying an extra SIM when I can hotspot.

  • +4

Note that the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 flashed to the global ROM can't install the latest OTA update because it says the hardware is incompatible. It seems Lenovo might be trying to stop people loading global ROM onto Chinese hardware. Keep that risk in mind.

    • +1

Seems the firmware from Lenovo RSA for the 2022 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon version. They either have to downgrade or load ZUI (which enables more features like turbo charge). Hopefully it's just a case of wrong firmware and not blocking.

      • +1

I hope so too. I bricked mine, but thankfully managed to salvage it with SP Flash tool.
I tried ZUI briefly, but Google Services wouldn't work properly and I didn't get OTA to ZUI 16. Apparently that's not straightforward, and ZUI can give wifi issues. I'll stay on the global one for now.

        • +1

As long as Google Services is enabled in settings and Google Play sideloaded it should work fine.

          • @Clear: Long shot - do you know whether I can do anything with my global rom flashed Lenovo Yoga Pad Pro (Yoga Tab 13)? it's stuck on Android 11 and can't find much info on how to get it updated (also Widevine L1 disappeared).

            • @frogduck: Whats the model number? TB

              • @Clear: After some googling it shows Lenovo YT-K606F, but Im not sure if that's only the US model equivalent (what's what also shows on my tab)

          • @Clear: It didn't quite work for me, though it is possible my ROM wasn't a healthy one - I wasn't picky as my device was a paperweight at the time 😂. Any time I'd try to access settings related to my account, it would fall.

        • Sounds like a lot of work to get this thing going

          • +2

@luminair: My same thought. When I was younger, I loved tinkering with these kinds of things. Now a days, I just can't be bothered because I have so much other things that needs to be done. I've been eyeing to buy this, but with all these comments, I'm a bit hesitant… I just want something that can run smoothly out of the box and not have to worry that 2 years down the road, it becomes paperweight.

    • +3

I restarted mine 3 times, it reverted to the older ROM, disabled updates. Saved.

      • +1

Thankfully had the same experience - was otherwise looking at 3 hours of I spy with the kids.

  • How do you get it for $267? Cheapest i can get it is $280.19

I checked out and used code AFAU20

    • Refer to the bottom of the post re USD.

  • -1

Hey Clear, love your work. I'm after a high performing smaller form factor tablet and I see most signs pointing towards the Y700 (2023) to be the top option. Do you reckon around the $285 USD after the discounts/taxes to be is a decent price?

    • +3

They've just released it internationally as the Lenovo Legion Tab for US$499 so US$285 seems reasonable. Just make sure you get the CN version as attempts to reflash it with the Japanese version (rebadged) has been blocked.

Alldocube are releasing the iPlay 70 Mini Ultra next month with a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. No word on pricing yet.

      • Cheers for the info, might keep an eye on Alldocube

      • The Legion tab has snapdragon 8 gen 3 , the y700 2023 has snapdragon 8+ gen 1,

        • Yes

        • Yeah that's the Lenovo Legion Y700 (2025) with the SD Gen 3 but yeah guess they made it Lenovo Legion Tab for global

  • Thanks @Clear, any chance for a deal on the xiaoxin pad pro 2025?

    • +3

With the upcoming CNY holiday I can't get any lower prices currently. Especially with this bad exchange rate.

      • i see….thanks anyway. Guess I will wait out for that then :)

  • Would local P12 cases and screen protectors fit this?

  • Can anyone confirm if the matte finish is a simple screen protector or is the glass etched? Thanks

  • Sorry, just as an aside. I got the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025, as per this deal, but I choose the 128GB and am running out of space after installing some games which are relatively big. Should have chosen the 256GB, doh!

Does anyone know, and/or if it is even possible, to make the microSD card as internal memory or to transfer apps to the microSD card?

I've looked thru the developer options, and tried this to no avail.
I've google and some said that Lenovo, after updating past a certain version of ZUI, has disable the ability to use microSD card as internal memory and also disable the ability to move apps to the microSD card. This is true for me so far with my Xiaoxin Pad Pro. Not sure if it will be the same with this Pad Plus.

Has anyone had this issue with the Lenovo tablets and was able to overcome it?

    • +1

Try this app to move apps to sd card.
Last time I tried, some apps didn't like it after moving like Opera browser. Be ready to reinstall apps if it does not work/gets corrupted.

      https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.a0soft.gph…

      • Thanks for the suggestion. I installed the app but unfortunately, to move apps to the sd, I still need to format the sd card as internal memory. Which is the problem I'm having. That is, not being able to format the sd card as internal memory.

        • Afaik Android removed this as a feature a few android versions ago so for the most part it's not possible.

And yeah I agree that 128 internal storage is too small if you install a few too many big file games

My xiaoxin pad pro 2020 SD730G only has 128gb as well and it fills up quick

For the most part I just gave up on having any big apps on it besides one or two and have an sdcard to download any shows/movies i wanna watch.

  • I've been messing around with remote desktop and Android and something like this, with a portable external monitor probably fits 90% of my travelling requirements for a laptop. Email, general stuff on device and remote desktop when I need more of something. Still need to find a better RD client.
Does anyone know if this can connect to a USBC monitor?

  • +1

I bought the same from the last deal but it's impossible for me to use the Play Store…
When I try to launch it, I have a mistake error saying that it's impossible to reach Google servers…
Do you know what can I do to use the Google services please ?

    • +1

I've got the prior version of this pad.
As I remember, under Settings > Google, there's an option to disable and re-enable Google Services. Once you restart Google Services there, the Play Store should become functional.

    • Was yours running ZUI? Tranquiliser's answer is correct if it is.

    • +1

I followed this YT video after I got mine and it worked for me.

      • Thank you ! I needed to switch on the Google services in the settings, I didn't know that…

  • Hi which year model is this

  • Do you need to pay extra GST on top of this price?

    • +1

      Titles are always inclusive.

      • Thanks however in the description it says tax will be added at checkout..

        • In my description or the listing? OzBargain requires tax and postage to be included in titles, so I include everything.

          • @Clear: Hey clear, in the description of AliExpress listing

  • +1

Does anyone know how much this model weighs? Trying to decide if it would be uncomfortable to hold while reading newspapers/magazines.

Edit: I found it says 615g

  • Do you have any Nz compatible coupons Clear?

    • Check the home page on the AliExpress website or app and it should show you the codes for your region

      • Yeah got that one, I was just wondering if there were any others. Also any chance of 5700X3D deals soon?
        Thanks

        • I fear the time of cheap 5700X3D's is over, as stock has been limited amongst the usual resellers and the prices have been high.

  • Nice deal, Any deals on gloss screen?

  • Anyone know of a case with cover and pen holder that fits this model. Seems pretty hard to find one.

  • Would anyone be able to advise whether this is an upgrade over the Lenovo M10 Plus, specifically for Roblox - the M10 Plus struggles in most games for my daughter. Was looking at the Samsung A9+ (8GB) for ~$100.00 more and wondering if the Xiaoxin Pad is a better option for Roblox. Cheers

  • Does the ROM support any sort of multiwindow? I'd like a large format tablet to use as a dashboard showing multiple apps at once in a fixed layout.

  • @Clear what's the flagship Xiaoxin these days Clear please?

    • +2

In the Xiaoxin lineup it's the 2025 Pad Pro while overall the flagship is the crazy expensive Lenovo Legion Y900 with a massive 14.5" OLED display.

  • What do you guys use for?

    • Hunting for treasure

    • +2

      Portable OzBargain

    • Might be ok for having your security camera on all the time….

  • I bought one in December. Love it.
But i came across a bug. If you happen to enable and subsequently disable developer mode. Your bluetooth headphone will receive no audio. You will have to erase and restore the system. Good luck!

  • Is this a good tablet for kids?

    • My kid uses the M10 3rd gen I bought a couple years ago from Aldi for $99. No complaints. In fact, he's happy with the upgrade from iPad mini 2, as life as an Apple user is an inferno of constraints everywhere.

  • neat

  • Are the screens on these any good for HDR video? Deep blacks?

Coming from iPad Pro 12.9” 2018, which has good colour but very bright black level in a dark room.

Literally just for movies, I don’t care about any other capabilities. Thx.

    • +1

Ideally for deep blacks you'll want OLED.

  • +1

Would love something like this that can switch between being an extra monitor and a tablet without having to use a streaming service like Moonlight.

    • Stremio for movies

      • +2

        yarr mateys

  • Is this sold by Lenovo on the AliExpress platform or by a third party retailer?

    • +1

      They're all 3rd party resellers.

      • Are they trustworthy?

        • +1

          Yes.

          but then… am I trustworthy?

  • Bootloader is reported to be locked with Netflix HD, OTA updates and Google Play.

What does this mean for the uneducated? Can't be rooted?

    • +1

A tablet shipping with an unlocked bootloader is a security risk and easily loaded with malware. You can unlock it or root it yourself no problem.

      • Thank you legend. I think i'll wait for the pro offer again.

  • I want to get this tablet but currently a bit confused. I intend to use this to mainly browse the internet, share trading and watching trading videos.

Noob Question: If I get this tablet, do I need to load the different ROM to get google play working and receiving further updates? and what does it mean by this " Bootloader is reported to be locked with Netflix HD, OTA updates and Google Play"?

Is that mean by default Netflix HD, OTA updates and google play will not work?

    TIA everyone

    • +1

      See Clear's comment above ☝️

  • Are these any good with keyboards or better off getting a thin laptop?

  • @Clear How are you getting this price? After discount at checkout, I am getting US $181.71

    Am I missing anything?

    https://imgur.com/a/gzmq4y3

    • It would seem they've increased the price. The party is over :(

Disappointing because AliExpress coupons are 100% AliExpress funded, unlike store specific coupons which there are none.

      • Oh bummer! Any good price on the pro model?
