Good price on this mid-range Lenovo Android tablet that's the Chinese version of the Lenovo Tab P12, except it offers a Matte display that'll reduce the glare from light. The non-matte P12 is available locally from JB Hi-Fi for a whopping A$449 "on sale", although it does have double the storage at 256GB. For those who are after a Lenovo stylus pen there are bundles on the listing with it included for more.

The Xiaoxin Pad Plus is the smaller brother of the high-end Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025 and as such has more mid-range specs. This is still perfectly fine for gaming and general usage, but if you're after the more serious gaming get the Pad Pro.

Features include Android 13 with Google Play (Android 14 & 15 coming), 12.7" 60Hz 2944x1840 IPS Matte display, MediaTek Dimensity 7050 CPU with Mali-G68 MC4 GPU, Widevine L1 DRM, 128GB Storage (microSD support), 8GB RAM. 10200mAh battery with 30W fast charging, 4 JBL Speakers w/ Dolby Atmos, 2 inbuilt mics, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, fingerprint reader, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB-C connectivity, magnetic attaching place for Lenovo Tab Pen Plus and pogo pins for a keyboard.

This one has been flashed with the Lenovo P12 Global ROM and given the same hardware I don't believe this to be an issue. From my research there's no unlocked bootloader, OTA updates, Netflix HD and Google Play out of the box. This was the case with the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 1300T that ran the same hardware as it's global counterpart.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate at time of posting, GST inclusive and doesn't stack with cashback.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

  • Are they Lenovo official store? I meant selling genuine products?

    • They're all resellers and "Big Save" products have been verified by AliExpress. There's also no such thing as a fake Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Plus.

    • +1

Selling genuine Lenovo products, yes, but official store? I don't think so

    Thankyou legend @Clear
I looked at this in Officeworks today for 449 on sale.
I got it with the original case and after coupon it was 273.50
I didn't bother changing to USD or anything to get that price

    • How was the tablet when you checked it out in person?

      • +1

Great screen, basically the same size as the iPad air 13 inch.
        Android looked pretty stock.
        Build quality was great.

        • The Officeworks one has a non-Matte screen so it may look a little better than this one.

    • did you think of getting it with the Pen? I'm surprised Officeworks had this in matte.

      • I'll just get a pen later.
I mostly browse, use it on the plane and play balatro on my tablet

        • fair enough, it looks like it's cheaper to add at the time is all

          • @chid: The price jumped again after i ordered.
Before discount and tax It was 283 with case now it's 300

            • @opelcalibra: I think that's because the coupon code can't be used but yes it does look like between my "cheaper to add" comment and yours - I bought it and now prices are up.

  • sorry for this question - i'm an android tablet newbie.

For the missus, general web browsing usage, note taking and mainly streaming media - would you pick this or the google pixel tablet (currently still on sale for $348 @ JB) ?

    • +2

I think really it depends on the size you're after this one is huge (comparably speaking)

      • oh yeh good point, i completely overlooked that!! this would be too big for her - thanks !

    • +2

      Either will suffice
As a non android person you might want the ability to return it or know you have google support.
But this one is almost 2 inches bigger screen

    • +2

You could also consider the TCL 11 from Harvey Norman

      Or the Lenovo M11

Both are $100 cheaper than the Google pixel

But for simplicity the pixel is probably a good choice

    • Thanks for the replies - really appreciate it!

  • Why oh why your Lenovo tablet deals are usually from an affiliated store :(

      • no stacking cash back which would take an additional $30 off the cost.

  • "Free returns within 90 days" - You might pay for the shipping cost…

  • How is plus compare to pro

  • The coupon code AUBF40 seems to no longer be working?

  • I bought the Chinese rom version costing slightly more. It'll receive more OTA updates/longer support, only thing is Google isn't installed by default. Just has to be enabled in settings and downloaded via Lenovo app store.

Great value tablet either way, just do some research regarding Global Vs Chinese ROMs.

    • +1

Couldn't see the "non-global" ROM. What's the search term? Chinese ROM,…. PRC ROM - or just no mention?

Edit: NM - I gather it is "China ROM".

  • Any cheaper tablet deals in the $100-$200 AUD range?

    • Take a look at the teclast t60 potentially
Or maybe the TCL tab10L at Harvey Norman

  • Now ~$265 after coupon code applied.

    • Did you pay in AUD? USD166.10 came to exactly AUD255.89 just now

  • Would this be any good for Uni basics? Taking notes, marking up PDF’s, zoom calls?
It’s a lot cheaper than an iPad.

    • +1

      Yes it would dominate this.

  • Can anyone please comment on using this for note-taking at university (with the stylus? or buying third party pens?) and how that might compare with galaxy s-pen or apple pencil experience? mainly just using goodnotes/one-note,

  • Thanks. $293 bundle with pen and case.

  • what is a good keyboard case for this? The ones that use the pogo pins?
does Aliexpress sell the genurine Lenovo Keyboard pack?, i.e. https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/tabl…
    Would it even be compatible?
Open to suggestures for a budget friendly solution

AUBF40 not valid anymore but you can use OZBF30, for whatever reason there was a $10 discount for using PayPal Pay in 4 so I did that, taking it down to $265.97. Not as low but not $300 :)
