It doesn't have a stand. So keep in mind that this is the screen only.

    • +2

Is there a particular stand to get, or will any vesa mount do?

      • +3

        any vesa

      • +28

I have the exact same monitor. If you are getting a vesa mount make sure it supports heavy monitors as this one on its own is 8.44kg.

        Dell UltraSharp U3415W Specifications

        • +1

          Good point. Thanks!

        • +1

          any recommendations for this?

          • +2

@cerealsmok3r: Sorry I didn't check too many monitor arms after I tried it with my existing VESA mounts, but it couldn't support the weight. So ended up buying this Universal Floor TV Stand as I wanted to position the dell above my main ultrawide.

Though this one seems good VIVO Premium Aluminum Heavy Duty for $89.99. It supports up to 20 kg's and if you were to upgrade to a 49'' the you can still use it

      • +2

If you are using a mounting arm, any that are VESA compliant will work as long as it can handle the weight. But a standard monitor stand that sits on your desk is unlikely to fit this monitor. Those desk stands usually have proprietary dimensions, outside of the mounting bolt holes (which are VESA standard).

  • Ok thanks will update still heaps off compared to last sale so still a bargain

  • Depend on what game are you playing, could be a good option. Just make sure people do some research before buying.

    • +8

Not really suitable for gaming, only 60hz with 5ms response. If you have a gaming GPU you would want a higher refresh rate or you are just wasting your GPUs potential. Great screen for productivity tasks though.

      • Is the 5ms response the problem or the 60hz?

        • +3

          Yes

        • I've got one of these and it gets lots of screen tearing on certain games like iracing, so I use the 100hz monitor instead. I wanted the ultra wide for a bigger FOV but now just use it for productivity.

      • Some RPGs don't need too fast response time, and high refresh rate.

      • +2

This is misleading as it totally depends on the type of game. Cities skylines, stardew valley, factorio etc will be no problem.

        • Minesweeper would be fine too.

  • 60hz good enough for gaming

Hardly, especially the 5ms response time.

This is a productivity monitor at best.

    • +31

60hz is fine. Not everyone cares.

      • +7

Fair enough - I guess I'm in the care camp then.

Most average computers would struggle to get above 60fps with that resolution anyway.

        • Yeah my card would be lucky to hit 60 in most games at this res, so 60hz would be fine.

        • +1

I went from a 34" 100Hz VRR screen back to a 34" 60Hz non-VRR screen and it awful, I just stopped playing games until I got a 2nd screen for gaming.
I think VRR/G-Sync/AdaptiveSync on a 60Hz screen would be OK but without it, the lower refresh rate and the tearing is terrible once you've lived without it. YMMV

    • At a sub $200 price point, it is definitely fine.

Keep in mind it's a second hand more than decade old monitor…

  • +28

Keep in-mind this now 10+ years old tech…

Better off spending the extra $ and buying below new for $299:

Note that the Dell monitor has an IPS panel. It may be 10 years old, but it'll still look nicer than a VA panel.

      • +3

100hz and 1ms makes it a better choice for gaming though.

      • +6

I owned a couple of these ~2016-2019 and they were great screens.

Paying $215 (without stand) for something 6-7 years old (going by what the seller has previously said) in 2025 is throwing money away.

10 years old IPS tech isn't superior to the VA panel of the linked screen, that retailed for ~$550-$600 before their current run-out sale.

        https://i.dell.com/sites/csdocuments/Corporate_secure_Docume…
        https://storage-asset.msi.com/datasheet/pro-monitors/global/…

Dell has inferior viewing angles, colour gamut, contrast ratio, response times, refresh rate (60 vs 100 & no FreeSync).

Spending $80-$90 more buying a new screen with 3 years manufacturer warranty is a far better buy.

      • +2

        No it's not.

IPS has better colour retention when looking at off angles, but that's why people make VA curved at this size. Instead, you'll have better colour.

That's just the panel differences. All the other extra spec (especially hdr and 100hz) will be a huge improvement in visual quality.

    • +4

Dell monitors often have some very nice productivity features, this one especially has built-in KVM that allows you to share keyboard/mouse/USB devices between two computers based on which source is current displayed. Also this one being old Dell monitors (yes, being an old one) also supports DP MST, means you can daisy-chain multiple monitors for cleaner setup (though DP 1.2a bandwidth limit is still in place means no 4K monitor in the chain).

      • +3

Bought this in the last deal, and the KVM was a really nice addition to my setup. Not having to think about swapping my peripherals between my WFH laptop and PC was something I didn't know I needed.

  • Thank you for the post, going to give it a go!

    • -5

Spend $5 more and get new in the post listed above yours

I’m currently in the market for a monitor that I can also use vertically for signage, advertisements, and similar purposes. Would you recommend a flat monitor over a curved one? Additionally, how much curvature is too much for this type of usage?

    • +4

Nope. Curve is not for vertical usage

      • Thx =)

        • Dont just trust me, google it :)

          • @CyberMurning: GpT says "A curved monitor might not be the best choice for vertical orientation because the curvature is designed for horizontal viewing. It might distort the display when used vertically. If you're aiming for signage, a flat monitor might be more suitable."

            • @Temptation: Common sense and logic agrees with ChatGPT on this one.

    • You want a commercial / digital signage monitor if it's anywhere with sun, and you want it to "pop" / run 24x7.

      • Nah just for pop up events signages for now and then, will be under cover then after can use for home.monitor afterwards

        • +10

No signages should be curved unless you hate what you are trying to advertise

  • +1

Great monitor and good condition from previous deals.

These monitors are heavy though, needs the beefier north bayou arms

  • I bought one of these, slow shipping but the monitor itself was fine, in good condition and works perfectly. This has a lower curvature than newer models e.g., U3419W. This was my first curved monitor so wasn't sure of what to expect, but actually the curve is quite subtle and a slightly higher curvature would make sense for typical viewing distances. I upgraded from a 27" monitor, the size feels surprisingly natural. Would recommend

    • Any difficulties with the aspect ratio / higher resolution ?

  • -1

Looking for a monitor that meets the following filters:
    32"+
    UHD/4K
    IPS
    Type C
    Below $400

    • +5

I had a look for you and this is the cheapest I could find

      https://www.umart.com.au/product/lg-31-5in-4k-ips-myview-sma…

If you have your heart set on sub $400 I suggest checking Facebook marketplace / Gumtree / eBay for a used model.

      • Much appreciated mate. I'll keep an eye on this model. 🙏

        • Hi sol3x this just came through in an email I got

          https://www.australiancomputertraders.com.au/dell-c3422we-34…

Seems like something you may want to consider. When you first sign up for this site you get emailed a $10 off coupon too.

          • @Agret: This one is not 4K though.

            • +1

@Averell: Yeah closest compromise for the budget that I've found so far though. Same resolution as the screen in this deal.

Other option might be to just get a normal screen and connect a USB-C dock to it so you can still hook your laptop using one cable just with an extra little box.

              • @Agret: Thanks for taking that extra mile looking for a monitor for me mate. I truly appreciate it.
i'll keep an eye on it. Happy to even pay for $500.

    • +1

      This one
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/884402

It was sold for $399 quite a few times in 2023.
In 2024 I saw it went down to today price only once (I might be wrong).

      • There's a good find

  • -1

    THESE ARE VERY OLD

    • +4

YEAH, IT'S A 10 YEAR OLD MODEL. BUT AT THIS PRICE I RECKON IT SHOULD BE OKAY

      • honestly, disagree. the ghosting from VA panels from back then would literally cause migraines. You could buy brand new modern 144/165hz ones for $200 more. Yes it's literally double the price, but how long do you keep a monitor for? $200 is worth 3-5 years of less migraines to me.

    • well, i don't mind at this price

  • +1

Any downsides for using this for work when working from
home? And for general internet browsing?

    Currently use a Dell 28” 1920x1080.

    • The downside is you have to spend money

  • Bought from last deal, happy as it replaced my aged Dell U3011 Ultrasharp from 2011 (still working). Quality is great, mine came almost perfect condition.

Recommended if you don't want to blow 1.4k on a brand new modern day Ultrawide Ultrasharps.

This monintor will do for now for me, I am waiting for a deal/drop on the Dell Ultrasharp 43". Takes time to get use to the reso on Ultrawides

  • can this fit on an existing Dell monitor stand? (As in take off old monitor but use old stand)

    • Will it clip on to older Dell stands, yes.

Will a Dell 24" stand be able to support it's 8.5KG weight & weight distribution, I wouldn't recommend it. You'd want at the very least a Dell stand from their 27" or larger size screens.

      • Dell 2405FWP monitor weighs 7kg, with the stand at 3kg. Compared to Dell 2707WFP, which is 8.5kg and the stand at 4kg.

  • Hello there,
Just wondering this monitor will be good for editing videos with a Mac mini.

    • I use a Dell monitor with this exact screen size and resolution (just a newer model) for video editing off my MacBook Pro and there's no issues at all. Works well

  • -8

10 years old monitor is not worth this much.

    • With an arm and a leg delivery this could reach $300 easily.

  • this is their normal price for last few months

only get if you like bleed, glow and no warranty protection

(try your luck at oc'ing the refresh rate to 80-85hz)

  • Wouldn't something like this be the better option for $239? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/886448
    Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ1A 27" QHD IPS 1ms 170Hz G-Sync

    • +1

      20% less inches

  • Was wondering what happened to the original stands, would have been a huge waste to chuck them right out of the box, and they don't really have a resell market either.

Turns out certain Dell monitors have without stand option, makes more sense.

    • +1

Most of the time they sell them seperatly. Sometimes these are used in an office on pre installed desk stands and the originals are lost.

  • +2

I purchased two of these last week to complement a X34P. The monitors were well-packaged and arrived in like-new condition.

    • Is that a DVD on the front right titled 'dirty'?

  • Good for Civ VII

  • can i use a 144hz 21:9 as centre monitor, and 2 60hz 21:9 as side monitor for a triple monitor sim set up?

or will this just look shit

    • Probably will look okay, trickiest part is just playing with the brightness/contrast/color profile trying to make them look pretty similar.

  • +1

    Good deal

The noobs above talking about it being 10 years old - this is why you need the specs:

    LM340UW2-SSA1
    LG Display AH-IPS panel
    Made in Korea
    100% sRGB

    12S4P WLED edge lit backlight
    Min/max life: 30,000 ~ 50,000 hours

As a realistic worse case scenario, if you get a 10 year old model that has been on every working day (250 days) for 8 hours per day that never entered power saving mode, that's 20K hours which means you have 30%+ life remaining

    • lol and is that the LED half life, or is the half life at 15k hours?

  • Curved screens we can not see. Too many years of staring at flat screens. Blind and ignorance is bliss.

  • Just in time to replace my dell 2405FPW that just died. Can probably reuse the stand as well

  • +1

Do you think these businesses were obtaining them from Dell without the monitor stand, or did they just send the stands to landfill?

The stands that these came with were very good and adjustable in height.

Where are people buying suitable stand for these monitors from? I haven't seen any on FB Market Place.
