So no changes to specs like range etc?

    • +4

Updated to show the new range.

      • +5

        LR 0 - 100km in 4.3s. I think the last LR was 5.0s

        • +1

I wonder if acceleration boost is included already now… or if its still an option to get that time even lower!

    • +15

It doesn't need it, there is a new badge and suede. Perfect cure for range anxiety right there lol

Great discussion point when your charging next to an inferior badge less previous gen

      • -7

Always the case, but it feels better when your charging next to BYD lol

        • +9

Not when you have two Dolphins next to this Tesla.

          • +2

@z28: Or you can Seal the deal for a bit cheaper.

      • +6

Also, not mentioned by the OP, "Metallic paint is initially included in the purchase price, as well as upgraded 20-inch wheels – features that are likely to become cost options once the "limited release" Launch Series has sold out." (drive.com.au)

      • +1

This is the 'updated' model, mate

        • My bad

  • +35

    How is this a deal?

    • +7

You are getting Mars colonisation free.

      • +1

awesome… one way ticket to certain death included with your purchase!

        • +1

Describing a trip to mars? Or life in general?

          • @ASR-Briggs: well we'll all die one day but can fast track that with a trip to Mars with Elmu…

            • @scud70: You would have said that to Columbus.

              • +1

@Grok: lol comparing Elmu to Columbus… ok then :)

            • @scud70: Age old debate of whether a long, unremarkable life trumps a short, adventurous, pioneering one.

              • @ASR-Briggs: i'll spend a hopefully long life seeing the planet i'm on … as much as i'd love to go to space, i'll take a pass on doing that with that nutter :)

                • +1

@scud70: Today I had to show someone (not that old either) how to type an underscore on their keyboard for a warranty claim. And I was the customer. I’m pretty done with this planet :-P

                  • @ASR-Briggs: hahaha nice… i've worked as a head of IT Infra in the retail sector for the last 7 years, so that doesn't surprise me, the stuff i've seen and heard, i lost hope for our future long ago… but i'm hoping those are the people who follow Emlu to Mars and leave the planet to the rest .. lol

      • +3

You are getting Mars colonisation free.

Don't forget the free UK electoral interference.

  • +58

    What is the normal price?

    How is this a bargain?

    Read the posting rules.

Summarise briefly why it is a bargain - why did you buy it or consider it worth sharing? How does the price compare to elsewhere?

    • +16

      ‘Special rear badge’ 🤣

      • +11

        Tesla for tramp stamp

      • -2

        Collectable editon for Tesla simps

      • +1

Ask @pegaxs how to debadge this in a couple of easy steps.

  • +6

Woohoo, price drop for existing Model Y will be coming soon..

    • Doubt it, these have had a $10k increase over the old model

      • Doubt it, these have had a $10k increase over the old model

Never say never. If you look at the timing of this 'announcement', it happens right before BYD's Sealion 7 upcoming release. Plus with the other manufacturers like Xpeng, Kia EV5 Earth/GT-Line etc, the competition will be quite fierce for the mid sized SUV segment.

    • +1

It's already reduced for existing inventory.

    • +1

its there. Like 3k-4K discount. But you lost 3k bonus from novated leasing and fours time referee bonus.

  • Surprised to not hear any news! Guess the launch is the "offer"

  • +1

Nice, I wonder if it can do the Knight Rider KITT front light thing?

    • All we need now is the HOFF to do some promo..

  • -3

Launch series was a few years ago. You mean the Juniper version? Ah, clicked the link and that's what Tesla are calling it (pretty silly).

Any colour no extra cost, but grey is gone. No 19" wheel option (boo). Acoustic glass, better suspension, new lights.

  • +29

Love how they try to claim additional branding as features. Are any of these things people would actually pay for?

    • +29

You're underestimating how pathetic the Elon simps are.

      • Elon simps would be putting all their money into cryto, lithium,Telsa stocks etc. Folks that buy Tesla's are the same people that buy other EVs or otherwise need a new car, and most of those are the total opposite of a savvy consumer.

      • +3

Comments like this is why OzB has really lost its way. If you have nothing good to respond with to the parent comment, just don’t say anything at all.

    • At this point in time Tesla is a brand name. You pay more for the badge and to show off, so I imagine some would like these changes. Otherwise there are much better cheaper options like BYD.

  • +5

Basic sale tactic: if sale is slow, change the cosmetic, (in a clothing/watch world) put Snoopy on, in this case: new badge, and keep selling.

    • +2

Hmm none of my clothing or fashion items has 'Snoopy' on it. Maybe I am not hip enough..

      • +2

You could see this tactic on brands like Uniqlo with their U T line up, or Oodie

    • -1

Snoopy dogg has entered the chat 💨💨

"Drop the price like its hot, drop it like its hot, drop it like its hot, when chinese EV's dominate the market, drop it like its hot, drop it like its hot, drop it like its hot, when the consumer gives you attitude, drop it like its hot, drop it like its hot, drop it like its hot"

  • +3

10k more than what I paid for the current model Y. Interior looks almost the same and not really digging the exterior look either. Don't like the new light blue.

  • -1

No vented seats like the Model 3?

    • +1

Yeah it does: "Take any seat. Front and rear touchscreens put all your comfort settings within reach. Ventilated seats, power recline and soft-touch textiles will make you feel like you’re floating in space." https://www.tesla.com/en_au/modely

  • +31

How is the regular price here a bargain? If Tesla want to advertise on Ozbargain, they should pay for it like all the other advertisers.

    • +6

They just sacked their marketing team again…

      • In U.S. or in AU ?

      • +1

        There was a marketing team?

    • +1

      Yes, where's the bargain?

    • +2

How is the regular price here a bargain?

What irony… when you up voted regular EV prices here and here 😉

  • +3

    Still no roof shade…crazy

  • +21

Isn’t $69k driveway more expensive than the current model? Is a price increase a bargain these days? Is inflation that bad?

  • +4

All EVs are getting cheaper after a couple of months. Congrats to the first buyers.

  • +35

Price increase as other electric cars have price decreases 😂

    • +6

Off poorer year on year sales

    • +1

A car for the fan club. Wait a few months and it will drop in price once the cult finish buying them.

      • -3

It ain't the Brick MGs lol

    • +1

Everyone knows the Mercedes AMG is the only high yield option.

    • +1

      Yep no bargain.

  • +3

    still no 7 seat option?

  • +19

    "Price increase" != "Bargain"

  • +4

I think newer Telsa "cars" are now all leaning to the right.
They used to lean left, or at least, that's what they wanted owners to think.

      • +11

Hahahahaha oh wait you're serious? Hahahahaha

        • -7

          oh wait you're serious?

When you grow up it will make more sense.

    • +1

Telsa "cars" are now all leaning to the right.

      Need a wheel alignment. 😉

  • +20

Given the way Tesla sales are tanking in Australia, and the precipitous depreciation, paying full price seems daft.

    Not a bargain.

  • +4

    OzRRP

    • +2

At least when PS4 was on RRP in Ozb, those days you could hardly get one for the price lol

  • +5

Looks like they increased the price to take advantage of the initial demand, not a business practice that I'd condone.

  • +4

In what way is this a bargain??

  • +2

I really wonder if they have V2L (V2x). This is sort of a dealer breaker now, with upcoming option to have car power houses.

    • +1

No they don't. V2G would cannibalise their powerwall sales.

If I was Tesla managment, I would actively lobby to remove V2G as a concept altogether.

    • +1

it's probably the main thing that keeps me from a Tesla at this point, it's nice to be able to plug a portable fridge or use it on a road trip to charge your laptop / make a coffee at a picnic

    • -3

Why would you want to wear out your car battery quicker for some convenience?
every charge and discharge cycle will degrade the battery.

      • +2

No evidence that a properly managed battery should degrade. Ive used powertool batteries daily for over a decade without any noticeable reduction.

You can also refer to the commonly cited byd taxis in china doing over a million kms.

        • Yet my Dyson battery is fkd, as is everyone's.

Many of your tools are probably used here and there as needed. You need to be using something until flat for it to be measurable.

      • +2

Laptop, small fridge or even a kettle every now and then would be using such a tiny amount of the overall power that it would make almost zero difference to the overall battery degradation.
