No evidence that a properly managed battery should degrade. Ive used powertool batteries daily for over a decade without any noticeable reduction.

You can also refer to the commonly cited byd taxis in china doing over a million kms.

        • Yet my Dyson battery is fkd, as is everyone's.

Many of your tools are probably used here and there as needed. You need to be using something until flat for it to be measurable.

      • +4

Laptop, small fridge or even a kettle every now and then would be using such a tiny amount of the overall power that it would make almost zero difference to the overall battery degradation.

      • if occasional V2L use deadens your batteries you have bigger problems to worry about

Not a bargain. Price jack for early purchases. Pretty sure they'll do the usually price drop to match current MY prices few months after release.

Plus with the launch model higher price, colours are no extra, 20" wheel upgrade, and LR gets powerboost. The best pic IMO

Sarcasm? Honestly can’t tell with Tesla discussions.

    • Thanks, that’s actually a good contribution to the comments here. I’m not interested in buying an EV at the moment but I have been wondering, while reading the comments here, what the actual (as in factual) difference is in the new model. Because I’m pretty convinced that most people commenting here and negging the deal don’t have the foggiest what it is and just wanna hate Tesla.

  • does it have cooled seats like the M3 refresh? my main concern :P

    • +4

      yeah it does

    • +8

M3 will always be a BMW.

  • -2

Even not a 0 cent to finance Greenland, Panama Canal invasions, or wherever those psycs want to!

  • their design is always gross and lackluster

    • You should really neg the deal itself not based on whether you like the 'look' of an item or not.

      • +2

The deal does look somewhat lackluster.

  • +2

Not a deal, more like a pre-order announcement for Juniper

      • I see a pattern, somehow Aussies like to buy Tesla for Xmas lol

        • I get the comedic effect but I was wondering how can you determine a 'pattern' from 2 occurrences, ie. 2 x Christmases ?

I guess people just like retail therapy around Christmas time and to drive around, in the summer holidays.

@whyisave: Patten doesn't matter. Currently, other EV brands are killing the market. Elon can't just reduce the price; that could still kill the entire EV market. I get it, but something has to give. Slightly improved but a pricy tin can not win the market.

            • @boomramada:

Currently, other EV brands are killing the market

Tesla is selling more than twice the next competitor (2024 Sales - Tesla 38347, BYD 14260, MG 8239, then peanuts…)

To put that into perspective Toyota sold 58718 RAV4s last year. So Toyota is selling more of one model than ALL non-Tesla EVs put together.

              So who is killing who?

              • @1st-Amendment:

                Toyota is killing Tesla.

                • @brotherfranciz: Toyota debt $241b
                  Tesla debt $5b
Toyota is killing the entire car industry

            • @boomramada:

Currently, other EV brands are killing the market.

              Which brands are these?
I'm new to EVs and see the Tesla software as the most mature.
              ( I'm no Tesla fanboi )

        • +1

It’s due to increased cash back offer and low interest rate

  • +6

This is not a bargain….just an ad really :/

  • delivery in may, does it still qualify for zero novated fbt?

    • +1

BEV is fine, it's PHEV that will miss out after March unless it gets extended

      • +1

Ah the may 11th is the WA 3500 rebate… not the novated stuff.
That would be too close to risk aye

  • +2

    Just an advertisement

    • If so it was not by Tesla itself so technically not an advertisement.

  • +2

For some strange reason whenever i see the Tesla logo I think it looks like a blade attached to the ceiling, like the Sword of Damocles.
That makes me smile and I don't understand why….

    • +1

For some strange reason whenever i see the Tesla logo I think it looks like

That logo is rumoured to be a female body part.

      • That fits, I've heard people call the CEO a female body part.

  • +2

    Not a bargain

  • Musk is expecting dividents from his friendship and exlusive rights to American market. Naturally prices will go up.

  • -2

Anyone know a good power bank to charge these? Asking for an orange friend

    • Another Model Y?

  • Selling around 60k now.

  • +2

    What bargain?

  • +1

Doesn't even have any pre order specials like Samsung :P

  • +4

    Not a bargain. Launch price

If you want bargain, wait for sales to tank then price

  • +2

Compared to other Chinese made EVs this is not a bargain in fact I would say it’s the opposite

  • Prefer the current shape tbh! This looks like such a generic car from GTA V lol

  • +2

    Not a deal

  • +3

    Lol

  • +2

    "paid for" ads.

  • Special rear badge?

    Cool….

  • +1

    Am I missing the bargain.

    • +1

Nope! There isn’t one, this is just normal pricing

  • +1

No bargain normal price this is not oz advertising

  • +1

Significant price increase from last years $55-60k, without any significant upgrades to the car.

  • 4 Year warranty, lol.

  • Can't believe they still haven't added MagSafe to the wireless charger.

  • Xpeng G6 looks better, feels better, goes better, warrantied for 10 years, already has all the enhanced autopilot/FSD built in, comes with free Sydney Airport domestic terminal parking, and is about $10000 cheaper.

    • +1

I have my eyes on this too. Quite like it. Have to be pretty cautious though fact is we dont have a time machine to see that the company survives here 10 years, and that its not got major issues after some time.

  • +3

come on fellows, your contribution toward to MAGA
    we are the 53rd state.

  • +1

Surely this cannot be considered a deal. It's just a product release.

  • WA 3500 rebate ends 10th of May, would be very tight…. thats the only thing holding me back

    • +1

For the price, get two Dolphins and $7000 rebate.

  • Not a bargain

  • There some inventory for old model $55k DA which seems alright. Think that's the deal, not this.

  • +2

fyi… maybe can be considered a bargain.
    Acceleration Boost $3000
    20' Rims $3000
    Metallic Paint $2600

Plus all the other updates over the current Model Y

$8600 value included on the updated Model Y LR (Juniper)

Im not in the market for Model Y LR , but if I was, i think is a good deal.

edit. Bonus! the new Model Y has "Indicator Stalks" that the new Model 3 doesn't. (aftermarket Stalk kits RRP$750 + Installation)

    • Is white metallic paint?

      • pearl

If I wanted to spend this amount of money on an EV, I'm not sure that I could bring myself to buy a 'Muskmobile' now that he's totally lost the plot.

    • -3

now that he's totally lost the plot.

What is the plot? Do tell…

      • The original plot was to create EV cars and travel space.

        He's legit Dr Evil now.

        • The original plot was to create EV cars and travel space.

Just checking he's still doing that right?

          He's legit Dr Evil now.

Which part exactly? He stole nuclear weapons and is holding the UN to ransom? Or he travelled back in time to steal Austin Powers mojo? Or he's using a tractor beam to pull an asteroid to earth to destroy the world?
Or is it as I suspect, he just said some words that triggered you and you got offended?

Here's something they used to teach us in kindergarten that might help you deal with this 'threat': https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sticks_and_Stones

            • @Ryanek:

              Lol you Elon fan boys

  • Has anyone here ever bought a new car without the on road cost?

    • When I bought my flying car, I didn’t need to pay on road costs.. just on air costs

  • Wow where are all you neggers when reps / associated members post fake bargains?

    • -3

That's not how you use the neg function.

The fake bargain posts are reported and removed.

You've been a member for a long time. You should know better.

      • +3

The ‘fake bargains’ are not removed by mods. They are only removed when it is a case of sockpuppeting, or another issue.
