  • Can we generally expect more discount or offers while buying or these are fixed prices witg discount? Wondering what more can be negotiated :)

Dont be afraid to ask for the usual extras. Free full tank of fuel, carpet mats and if you're lucky, free tinted windows.

      • Free tint would be worth $500!!

      • I wouldn’t ask a dealer to tint windows. Dealer tint is universally awful and expensive.

Yeah you can easily push for more, my sister ordered an ultra hybrid a couple weeks ago before this promotion (when it was $42990) for 40k drive away, that included the extra paint cost (ayres grey), faux leather floor mats, bonnet protector, cargo mat, weather shield kit, full tank of fuel, slimline plates, etc. I was urging here to push for more (tint & paint protection) but she was happy paying what she did.

They're a nice car in person, not amazing on road but you get a heap of kit for your money. If you're the type of person that keeps your cars for ages and doesn't care about depreciation or the way a car drives you'd be happy with what you get for your money.

      • Thanks guys. It encourages me to ask for more from dealer :)

Toyota must be very happy to see so many Aussies loving their products, as this allows them to sell more cars and earn more profits to subsidize Chinese!
Source: Rav4 hybrid now is 38k AUD in China mainland, Corolla hybrid 22k AUD — sales are still declining rapidly.

  • for those who said fuel consumption, currently driving a lexus is200t 2016, website said its 7.5L per 100km actually experience is 11 litres per 100km, the whole tank is about 50 litres and only last 460 km

    • Fuel economy is highly dependent on the type of driving you do, and your driving style. Official figures for Lexus 200t are shown below, but these are in a controlled test environment, with air-con off and driven very gently. If you drive mainly in city areas, you should get 9.7 L/100km, but then if you use air-con it will be a bit more, and also if you put the foot down, it will be a bit more again, so 11 L/100km is not too bad.

      Fuel Consumption Combined‡
      7.5L/100km

      Fuel Consumption Highway‡
      6.3L/100km

      Fuel Consumption City‡
      9.7L/100km

  • Where's the diesel option?

  • We own a h6 hybrid ultra which is about 8 months old now.so far so good. We felt it represented good value compared to Toyota rav4 we were looking to buy and also was available for delivery sooner.

Interiors and features are pretty good . Drive on hybrid electric engine is pretty good . The 1.5L engine is turbocharged and isn’t as powerful though. But does a good job.

We love the features and comfort included in the price.

What put me off buying this was the centre screen was angled to the left, for the left hand drive market. For Australia, they just moved the steering to the right, but didn't change the centre console, so it's still angled to the left ever so slightly. Not that I have OCD, but that would really bug me.

Settled for an Atto 3 instead and couldn't be happier!

    • Not that I have OCD

My take on the GWM Hybrids with actual experience rather than the keyboard warriors above in the comment section.

My sister has the H6 Lux Hybrid. I was also a Chinese car skeptic but post 2020, the new models have caught up with Japanese engineering. This car (Hybrid version) is torquey as hell and also making 190kw of power, it has some scoot and in normal mode the fuel use to 6.0L/100km on bog standard 91 unleaded just driving normally. In Eco mode with no AC or Heating, driving gently, it sips only 5.0 - 5.2L/100km driving in metro / city areas (sub 80km/h). Hell the Hybrid system even kicks in at 100km/h that my Rav 4 Hybrid never can do. Also the refinement, smoothness and the tech rips my Rav 4 Hybrid 2021 model to shreds. My Rav 4 Hybrid is very tinny and noisy at high speed, lack of refinement. The H6 Hybrid feels a lot more solid especially at high speeds and has less noise.

Saying all that, my Rav 4 Hybrid has super tight resale value and the H6 will drop off the cliff after even just 3 years of ownership but if you are planning to keep the car forever or run it into the ground, it has 7 years of warranty so that should be ok. Trust me my dudes, I used to bad mouth Chinese cars but after borrowing my sisters H6 Hybrid for quite a while, GWM has nailed the quality and refinement. I recently drove the H6 Hybrid from Syd to Melb and back, rock solid and you can actually have a conversation in the car at 115km/h, in my Rav 4 Hybrid you have to raise your voice due to the high road noise at 115km/h. 1 Tank filled to the brim 62L if I remember and it did 850km with 20km left in the tank to Melb from Sydney and that is sitting at 105 - 115km/h all the way which is not the best for efficiency but it still did it on 1 tank. (I did have a spare 10L jerry can with unleaded just in case as I was getting nervous towards the end) but it was a good test and it passed on 1 tank. In metro Sydney, I have easily done 1120km on a single tank without too much grandma mode driving. 1 negative is that due to the high power and torque and FWD, in the rain it will chirp the front tyres on take off breaking traction for 1 second before the stability control reigns in the power. Better more sticky tyres would be a good upgrade.

I don't know about MG, BYD but GWM seems to be the most 'grown up' Chinese car manufacturer currently in Australia. I am so impressed that I am thinking about getting the Hybrid Cannon Alpha, that thing is a beast especially for $60k. No I am no GWM employed shill, credit is due when a car is good and people who have never driven it start to bad mouth it with zero on hand experience. (I used to be that person).

the H6 will drop off the cliff after even just 3 years of ownership

Sounds like the actual bargain is buying a 3 y/o H6 then. Sign me up for that!

      • I had a look too unfortunately for a 2022 model the cheapest on carsales is 35k, granted there may be room for haggling but it doesn't sound like much of a deal

  • Thanks for sharing.

Though I don't buy them, they’ve helped keep Japanese and Korean car prices from rising too fast.
    That’s a contribution in itself.

  • I think that the Chinese car industry is where the Korean's way back 20 - 25 years ago. But I remember some of the brands did have early teething issues too. Just like GWM etc now.

They were admonished, for exactly the same reasons as the China cars now.

Look at the Korean vehicles now. We all compare them now to MB and BMW (some models).

If you dont think Chinese can build quality. Look at your iPhone..
