Used to be a gold coin at the gate!

  • +67

Absolute bargain for where this match is positioned. Going to be an unforgettable final day!

    • +8

Absolutely, what a game. So genuinely tense and exciting.

    • Oz is gonna steamroll this one, no question!

    • +10

Rip off, should be gold coin

      It is!!! 😜

  • -7

This will be a good day 4

    • +3

      It's day 5 lol

      • +8

Oh yeah. Must have missed a day being on the booze

  • +14

    It's going to charity lads…

    • +14

Thanks for the warning, I’ll pass

  • +4

Even if you don't particularly love cricket it's gonna be a relatively exciting afternoon for the last couple wickets that will possibly decide the series. Maybe head in for the afternoon unless they are already 5 out in the morning.

    • +1

Plus if Australia wins this they'll prevent India from winning three consecutive test series in a row.

The series is presently tied. India won Perth, Australia won Adelaide, Brisbane was a draw and rained-out. India retains the trophy in case of a series tie but, as I read it, they need an outright win to satisfy the stats nerds above.

      • There's 5th one happening at sydney b/w 3 & 7 Jan, that'd the decider if the current one results in a draw.

      • This will be 5 in a row for India if they win, they have won the last 4 in a row, home and away.

    • +1

Head has already batted twice so can’t go in during the afternoon. Head still could take 4 wickets bowling like Travis has done before at test level

  • -5

India is in a good position to win.

    • +5

If they can Score 334 on a fifth day wicket they deserve the win. But I doubt too many would see that as a good position. Bookmakers will give you generous odds now if you think it's a good position lol

      • +5

I made the comment before I saw the last partnership ..lol

        • Only 155 on a 5th day wicket. Shows how bad their position was when you originally commented anyways

          • @Ronnnie: If they built a good platform in the first session, they could have chased down the total in the last session, if they had wickets in hand.
400 would have been almost guarantee, 350 is an outside chance.

      • +1

It's definitely a tough ask but a possibility.
Most runs scored on Day 5 (last day) to win a Test match:

        404 - Australia v England - Target: 404 in Leeds, 1948
        344 - West Indies v England - Target: 342 at Lord’s 1984
        325 - India v Australia - Target: 328 at Gabba, 2021
        317 - Australia v India - Target: 343 in Perth, 1977
        317 - West Indies v England - Target: 322 in Leeds, 2017
        311 - England v Australia - Target: 315 in Leeds, 2001
        302 - Pakistan v Sri Lanka - Target: 302 in Sharjah, 2014

    • +3

      this didn't age very well

      • +1

India has failed to finish off the tail in both innings. Cost them lots of runs and made the total Australia has near impossible to get..I wonder how often a team has managed to chase that sort of total on a 5th day. Mustn't happened very often lol

    • +2

Statistically you are very wrong but I like where your heart is at.

  • Going to be draw ✍🏿

    • +20

      Is that you Virat?

    • While Gabba victory was historic, things to consider the pitch's decoration on a last day.

  • Does this include members guest pass?
    Anyone know?

  • +2

Should be an absolute banger of a final day! Aussies will probably only see put a couple of overs at the start of the day (maybe get to a 350 run lead) and then it will just be down to Australia to try and get them out. Shame we didn't go all out with a lead of about 300 and India having a few overs today - they will likely play for a draw now…..what's the most runs ever on a 5th day boxing day test??

    • +5

The highest successful fourth-innings chase in Test cricket at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was achieved by England in December 1928, when they chased down a target of 332 runs against Australia.

      • Tomorrow could be history made ;)

      • -1

3.5 ~ an over impossible for Indian batsman ,
Lyon should ball more and no silly catch drops…

  • +1

Which section for families which is alcohol free? Ponsforth.?

  • +4

    and free spam!
getting lots of " Free NRMA recovery kit" emails to my Ticketek email address in the past 2wks.

Would have been nice they told us about it!

    https://www.nsw.gov.au/id-support-nsw/learn/data-breaches/da…

    • +2

AHA! I was wondering why i started getting so much "recovery kit" "safety kit" spam the last week or 2.

Getting real sick of all these breaches.

  • its long shot for India now….but weird things have happened in the series so may as well. thinking to drive with kids, I assume MCG parking is on and shouldn't be too painful.

    • No parking at MCG

      • +1

        There was today

    • +1

Likely parking available. Check the MCG website as I think you can pre-pay.

      • didn't goggle it before…you are right, parking is available. No option to pre-pay, not sure if i should take chance with kids in case if parking gets full

        • Highly unlikely to

    • If a few wickets drop with the new ball, then they will play for draw. Most likely outcome is draw or Australia wins

  • What time do they open up the gates for free

    • 5pm ish

  • why it doesn't allow to pick seats but going in as GA

  • Can you exit and re-enter throughout the day?

    • +1

Yes. You need to scan your ticket on the way out so you can scan again on the way back in.

    • +11

Sometimes you can just put the internet down for the evening

        • +5

12 countries with full ICC membership and a further 96 with associate membership.
So yeah, just a handful of the former English colonies! 🤣

    • Please leave some tickets for me!

  • +4

Ticketek are so shit, chugging so hard couldn't even check out with tickets within the 6 minute window

    • +1

so true. finally got General Admission tickets on 3rd attempt….no idea how the seats will work with that, lol….

  • +3

    General Admission Seating
General admission seating will be available in the following locations for Day 5:

    Shane Warne Stand
Level 1 (M1-M2 no alcohol bays)
    Level 2
    Level 2A

    Olympic Stand
    Level 1
    Level 2

Level 4 and the Ponsford Stand will be closed for Day 5.

    • +2

I wonder if the demand might be higher than expected and they might reconsider the Level 4 closure?

      • +2

Doubtful, closing Ponsford and top level is about keeping costs down/less staff on unfortunately

      • Glad to be wrong here, they've opened up the lot!

    • Bay 13?

    • -1

It seems somewhat disrespectful to his legacy to have alcohol free bays in the Shane Warne stand

  • +4

Fantastic value for what should be a great day of cricket. That’s a true bargain.

  • +1

This will be over in 6 hours includ break.

    • Target of circa 350 overhauled in 50 overs.

    • +1

      Don't worry.

      I understood.

    • +1

When they turned comments off it was a dark day

  • +1

Looking forward for some W⚓ chants!

  • -2

Off topic - I love ESPS cric info. But look at their commentary, it’s all biased towards India. Always.

Like an umpire should be clean, so do these sites as well. But not.

    • listen to Grandstand and tell me its isn't biased towards Australia

      • -1

For your mood, compare Apple to Apple and not oranges.
And, for the facts, exactly my point. Be it ESPN cricinfo or Grandstand, it has to be neutral. Just that I pointed as cricinfo reaches to the masses and as an example. Can’t say Indian umpire did bad so Aus umpire should do bad. Bad is bad. So shut up and relax.

      • Yes but that’s on the ABC, Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Why wouldn’t they be slightly biased? I’ll be my life savings that if you listen to an Indian Broadcast in Star Sports or something, they’ll also be biased towards India.
