Nice bit of kit. Pity it's Intel
Is there something wrong with the 226v specifically?
Isn't Intel better than AMD at this price?
I think in this generation (at least before any post release patches) Intel is better for battery life, amd is better for performance. Not sure if that applies to every CPU however.
If you compare the Intel CPU in this deal vs AMD's previous generation Ryzen 5 8645HS, the Intel 226v is about 17% slower in Passmark.

Unfortunately the lack of hyper-threading slows down this Intel CPU. I have tried laptops side by side with these CPUs. You can definitely tell the Intel CPU is slower compared to the AMD, because it just looks sluggish when loading applications compared to even AMD's previous generation in the Acer Swift Go.
Lunar lake was never meant to be a performance beast. It was meant to be a battery machine and I think they largely delivered this. I got the 8540hs of this machine, was $900 from officeworks, pretty happy with it, but for my use case, I'd definitely sacrifice the performance for battery personally.
Things I think could be better though, trackpad and o wouldn't a 2in1, so I could flip it over when I'm on my desktop.
With Lunar Lake, follow the rule of 8:
228V - 32GB DDR5, Arc 130V
258V - 32GB DDR5, Arc 140V
288V - 32GB DDR5, Arc 140VThe 16GB models - like the 226V here - are only deals if pricing is similar to the CU5-125H and CU7-155H
Will the 258V gaming performance way better?
