  • Wow wow wow

  • Hope the supplier staff price/discount is worthwhile!

    • Anyone know what the discount is on electrical products?

  • Depending on the prices, anyone keen to voluteer to buy stuff for the rest of the us and ship it out? :D

  • +1

Why is it just for the auburn store?

  • HN is a franchise so it's likely to be a initiative from the proprietors of the store.

The Liverpool store does this every now and then as well and their discounts are exceptionally good.

  • Anyone know how much the discount is? Just called HN and asked, they refused to tell.

    • Of course they won't tell =) But based on previous sales, they'll have dozens of absolute crackers across the store, but only on specific models/lines. For everything else, they'll either have a generic % off or leave it to the discretion of the sales team.

      • +2

How would you find those "absolute crackers" though? They won't be advertised because you need the flyer to get access to the discount. Do you just have to ask the salesperson what the supplier price is for every product that you're interested in?

        • Wow, that's exactly what I wanted to comment when OzBargain went down for a few mins, very hard to tell whether you are getting the best deal talking to sales people :P, with or without the flyer, you probably get similar outcomes. Unless they offer you a pair of special glasses where you can see hidden prices!!

          Good find though Scotty

        • The best deals will be right in your face… the flyer is just an advertising stunt to get you to go to the store ;)

I spose you could try to get a little more off by showing them the flyer and asking for a better price, but I wouldn't expect an extreme discount off (eg: 50% off) the ticketed prices.

  • I have been to similar sales before and its generally cost + 5-10%. Bear in mind this is the cost price not including any manufacturer rebates the store normally gets.

    • that would be 5-10% after mr harvey slaps on his 10% commission before it hits the floor

  • Nice scotty keep up the great bargains!!

  • anyone been there yet? only thing I would be after is a 1TB ext HD or a Wii

    • Just got back from HN. Picked up the Tom Tom Rider V2 GPS for motorbikes for $599. JB HI FI has the same GPS for $749 and Dick Smith has them for $749! I didn't get an extra discount for showing them the flyer though - they said the price I'm paying is already the same or better than what they're paying.

  • Not a "Staff Sale"at all. Just standard discounts in disguise. Not worth the petrol to get there.

    • +1

Have to agree, the place was packed and the small discount wasn't worth the trip - i could get cheaper prices at JB or GG. On the upside though, petrol was cheap at BP Auburn so i filled up and saved some money, wasn't all bad lol

      • lol yeah. The petrol price in there is quite cheaper than other regions in Syd. Damn eastern suburbs.

  • I have to agree with the last few posts. I went on Tuesday and the discounts weren't great. The current sales and specials around the place are cheaper than the supposed "staff prices" that harvey norman employees pay. I asked about a xbox 360 pro bundle and the price that was quoted was more expensive than the current prices at target and kmart ($398). If that is the staff price then harvey norman employees are getting a raw deal.
