Pretty sure IKEA's ethos is 'A KALLAX in every home."

  • What area are these available in? Can't even get it shipped to Brisbane

    • +2

Nvm turns out its just stock in random Ikeas around the place

Found 2 of these in great nick in hard rubbish a couple months ago, one with doors/ drawers. Try trawling the streets.

    Damn… High gloss white RRP = $179. White RRP = $99.

    That's some expensive gloss finish.

    • i dont understand why the gloss is RRP at $179

      • It does look nicer, not sure if it looks that much nicer. I wanted to get the non gloss but my wife said no. Ended up getting a brown one instead so I'm using it a different room now. Ends up better for me.

        • +1

yea ok…. but if the white is $99 retail the gloss surely cant be $179 being more expensive then brown and stained oak……

          • +1

@smeng: The brown is just a laminate isn't it? The high gloss must be some other more expensive material I guess and it's one of those things, people are willing to pay that price so they just keep selling it at that price.

            • +1

@ozbs25: it also says its laminate within the material section i dont see it being a special finish

              • +1

@smeng: I assumed it was just a more expensive laminate. We have some high gloss red ones and they do look nice.

      • I don't think there is a gloss white so they must have come out with one and put on an outrageous RRP.

    • Just need the white one on discount. Idm if it's gloss or not.

      • You’ll pay $10 more for non-gloss white right now. It’s still rrp

        • +1

Was to add it to my cart until I saw a comment saying it's rrp. Guessing I can buy it at that price at anytime later

    • I saw this and believe I bought the matte white for $99. Ikea has some real creative geniuses doing their RRP.

    • And they still don't even provide a cap for the ugly screws on the end.. ridiculous markup over the matte

    Great for vinyls.

3 of these, 2 vertical with a horizontal in between makes a sweet turntable setup. Horizontal with legs even better:

Vinyl Cover Art is the perfect size for the KALLAX doors too.

I wish they mate a Gladsax Door for Kallax!

Just don't overload it too much, and remember that it has more integrity in one direction then the other.

        That photo will haunt me!

But it's Ikea, they use cardboard for filling so I would never load it that much.

      • +1

Vinyl is super heavy isn't it? I can't imagine filling up an entire cube let alone all of them. I suppose bottom row would be fine…

        • +1

I have a 1 x 4 and I fill the cube to maybe 5/6 full, leaving room to flip the album. I also have a thin bookend to keep the pile straight, cant image why you'd stuff the cubes since you can see the covers.

        Lmfao @ that pic

  • anyone knows why the 3 X 4 KALLAX has the same RRP as the 2 X 4 KALLAX?

      Your're comparing the non-gloss 3X4 with the glossy 2X4

  • lol Currently unavailable for delivery to 2066
Currently unavailable for Click & Collect at Tempe

  • I wish Kallax openings were maybe 20% larger. Would be ideal for storing backpacks
