After the very successful Singles Day and Black Friday sale AliExpress are hitting us again with a Christmas sale and more coupons. While the discounts aren't as big as the previous two sales it's still good if there's anything you need to get.

These coupons will not work on phones as grey imports are banned by Australian phone networks. If you don't like it complain to ACMA. This is OzBargain. Not OzBlameClearBargain.

Coupons are 1 per account, do not stack with the new user "Welcome Offer" and Big Save "Limited Deals". The minimum spend excludes GST and shipping.

You can "Collect" the coupons on the sale page (when it's live) so that they're tied to your account and will auto apply at checkout.

Do you know if the Aliexpress cashback wars will make a return for this sale?

    • I've not heard any goss on whether not AliExpress are giving them upsized cashback.

I was wondering if there was a sale coming up… Clear coming in again with the coupons!

This deal was right up your ali.

I expressly look forward to it!

  • Just missed this after spending $200 on Black Friday lol

  • I think it might be time for a redmi note 13 pro plus 5G purchase, looks like they're finally unblocked !

    • Have you considered the Iqoo Z9 Turbo?

Interesting to see item prices during the sale, they seem to have boosted a lot in last day or so!

    • as in prices have been jacked up?

      • +1

Yep, for most of the items in my wishlist

        • +2

Perhaps because nearly a month long sale ended 3 days ago?

    • +4

That's normal. Prices just going back to their everyday non-sale prices.

  • is it time to ditch the samsung and get the vivo x200 pro?

    • Don't buy import phones at the moment as there is a good chance it will be blocked by the telcos.

      • Why? Technical limitation or "Western democracy" thing?

        • +13

Cos it might not work. I'm surprised people are still unaware 500,000+ phones have been bricked in Aus since Oct 28. There are massive pages of discussion here on OzB:

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/873158

as well as multiple news stories and channels covering the absolute shitshow this is:

          • @Iggemo: Is there a list or something..? My Poco hasn't missed a beat

            • +1

@BaccyChan: There's no list; that's part of the problem, it's all opaque and guesswork. Phones are arbitrarily blocked. Some ppl attempted making lists ie : https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/36yz4vrw#google_vign…

but we really dont know. It is completely arbitrary if your model will work one or more carrier or be blocked by one or more. There is an AMTA IMEI check https://amta.org.au/3g-closure-old/check-my-device/ which is meant to give you info but at best it has also been found to be flaky. Telstra has their own checker https://www.telstrawholesale.com.au/3G-Network-Closure-Block… and that seems to at least be somewhat reliable as to what will work on Telstra network but there's no such thing for Optus or Vodafone.

That all being said, yesterday i bought a Redmi Note 13 Pro + 5g Global because i have seen enough comments from ppl saying that they have had theirs unblocked - and Optus actually sent SMS to owners saying "due to information being provided by the manufacturer, your Redmi Note 13 + 5g is no longer non-compliant and is unblocked" that i thought it was safe to buy that particular phone. I wouldnt necessarily gamble on many other models, though.

              • +1

@Iggemo: There are lists based on GSMA device/IMEI registries and other similar databases that are meant to be accurate based on manufacturer information. Where its going wrong im not sure. Whether some operators are just careless or those global lists contain inaccurate technical information, i would say both are highly probable. /telco insider for over 20 years.

  • these sales happens more often than I take my shower, lol

  • Can never really figure out what I'm doing wrong with these. "Your order amount, after discounts and excluding shipping fees, doesn't reach the minimum spend requirement for this coupon code. Once you reach the minimum spend requirement, you can reapply this coupon code." None of the items in the cart are the big save, limited time or new user etc deals. Even if I add $1200+ of items, even the $5 off code doesn't work and gives the same message.

    • Any examples of products that aren't working for you? And what their listing price in USD is?

      • https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008198055189.html?spm=a2… for example. $709USD but the $75 off codes now say that it's only for specific items. Is there an easy/clear way to shop only products that are eligible?

        • +1

Is it only phones that you've tried it on? Given phones that aren't whitelisted by carriers won't work I wouldn't be surprised if it's been excluded from coupon usage in Australia.

          • @Clear: Good point. There was always a phone in the cart (tried various different ones). Just tried on a tablet and the codes work. Bit frustrating but it is what it is. Thanks for your super helpful and super quick help.

The post says it commences at 6 pm tomorrow.

That said, the "big save" sale that just went active about 13 minutes ago seems a scam, the phone i wanted only reduced $13 - coincidentally from above 550 to below 550. Seems the "big save" sale thing is just a scam to make you pay more? I need to wait for the sale to end now to get an actual sale which is a bit of a weird situation but okay..

      • Similar thing here, item price decreased but shipping increased making the pre-code/pre-sale price lower. Also going to have to wait for the "sale" to end.

  • codes are live for me now too

  • +2

Item I had my eye on has increased shipping by 4 USD, making it more expensive than before AUGS05 went live

  • "Sorry, this code is for specific item". Can't get any code to work for the phone i want at any seller, be it a big save or not, not sure what's going on.

  • Does this stack with PayPal $10 off?

    • +1

      Yeah seems to track fine

  • +1

One day before sale campaign (8th Dec) they did show what would be the sale prices (which is lower than the current price) but then when I checked yesterday, no sale price like what they promised. All higher than the previous price which makes the discount voucher doesn’t mean much.

  • Worked and got $10 off with PayPal too. Conversion table was very useful. Cheers.

  • Thinking about getting a tablet, but have to decide between Redmi Pad Pro/Poco pad or Mi Pad 7….

  • Trying to apply AUGS05 at checkout but nothing is happening - no error message, no discount shown.

    EDIT: OZAF5 doesn't work either.

Never mind, my item lacks the tiny icon saying "coupons applicable".

  • +1

Get your gst back more or less..

    • +3

Less because they incorrectly calculate the GST based on the non-discounted price 🙄

  • Sorry, this code is only for specific items.

    • -2

If it was a phone it would have been a $2000 paperweight since grey imports are blocked in Australia.

      • Global version and willing to take the risk to save $1000 on the AU markup.

        • -1

And if it didn't work then there would be complaints all over my deals and the forums.

        • Yeah i was looking for a deal for Redmi Note 13 Pro + 5g Global but this deal didnt help at all. Ended up buying from spectronic which is a semi-shady dropshipper but has an ABN at least. Out of interest what phone are you looking at?

If it's a new compliant phone and is global version - especially if it is a larger brand like Xiaomi (cant talk to Vivo etc) it's likely to either (a) be okay now or (b) be okay shortly when it's verified. Optus seem to be the main jerks in blocking these kinda phones atm, Telstra and Voda appear to have a more reasonable approach. Unfortunately all of my family are on 365 day plans which are cheapest with MVNOs on Optus (Catch Connect, Coles Mobile, Amaysim) !

@Iggemo: Asus ROG phone 9 Pro

Instead of creating laws and bans, Australia should be working with the manufacturers or, crazy idea, maybe even being proactive and helping to refine the volte tech.

Nope, they just did what they do for every problem in Australia. Create a new limitation, and the telcos are loving it too because it forces us to pay insane prices and get phones on loan through them.

Kids on facebook too much ? Ban them
VPNs and encryption make it too hard to breach the privacy of your citizens ? Forced backdoors.
Religion being attacked ? Religious tolerance act
Kids are being bulkied online ? Anti-bullying laws

It goes on and on and it is getting tiring. One thing I know about Aussies is they don't give a (profanity) about anything because if even a fraction of the laws that have been passed over the last 20 years here were floated in any other Wetern democratic Country, shit would of hit the fan.

      • $2k phones? Damn Samsung and Apple must have really got that ingrained into your brain already

  • "Sorry, this code is for specific items only"

Got duped again, thanks Ali 🤓

  • any suggestion on high thrust kg fan blower guys? such as below, I am looking for powerful ones, I saw some of them up to 8kg thrust.
