homeopathy = quackery. anyone with even the slightest understanding of chemistry would realise that. do you dilute your aspirins 30x as well when you've got a headache?

    • +5

It's not diluted 30x, it's diluted to the power of 30, which is equivalent to 1 ml diluted into sphere 131.1 light years in diameter.

        thanks for clarifying!

Negged - a minute amount of stuff diluted in water isn't medicine, it's a scam.

Guys, Don't neg because you don't believe in Homeopathy medicine, neg it if you think its not a good price.
I don't want this forum to debate on the merits of Homeopathy,

    • +3

I agree about the "Don't neg" - but for quite a different reason: Much better to point people to useful, informed SCIENCE about this quackery than just making it 'disappear' from OzB.

    • +4

Personally, I think it's a bad deal… you can get bottled water for much cheaper than this! :V

If any product offers poor performance, is crap or over priced then we neg it as bad value for money. Homeopathy should fit the same rules.

Sadly because many who promote homeopathy products are also anti-vaccination campaigners there is a strong justification for labelling homeopathy as dangerous.

If you are part of the anti-vaccination lobby then I suggest spending some time in the third world or talking to your grandmother. Nobody questioned the value of vaccinations when measles, whopping cough and polio epidemics killed many children. It is only now when herd immunity protects the majority that the need for vaccinations is being questioned. Sadly the crackpots are lowering the herd immunity putting many vulnerable people in the community at risk (especially young babies).

That's because homeopathy has no merits.

Voting guidelines allow for a negative vote for a defective product. Homeopathy is a defective product (with the science available to prove it).

    • +1

Ah, no, I'm going to neg because it's quackery and, as a result, the product will not be fit for purpose. I'd rather neg this deal and risk offending your delicate sensibilities than let it pass by and risk someone damaging their health. Take your snake oil elsewhere.

Homeopathy is bunk, and you making money off it is sick.

"Not sure how many OZ bargainers would use homeopathy medicines"

Hmmm… I'd be hoping that no-one would be.

Science helps - Have a read of the most excellent Ben Goldacre on this form of quackery:

There are much cheaper placebos available, so therefore this isn't a deal in my opinion.
lostincanberra's links are worth a read for anyone who disagrees. Ben Goldacre clearly explains why homoeopathy products are a waste of money.

    • nzdan wins the internet! I hadn't thought of the approach of suggesting that there were cheaper placebos available…

      Dogbert: This'll cure you immediately.
      Dilbert: Really? What is it?
      Dogbert: A placebo.
Dilbert: A placebo? Now that you've told me it's a placebo, it's not gonna work.
Dogbert: It will if you think it will.
Dilbert: But I already know it's a placebo!
      Dogbert: Maybe it isn't.
Dilbert: You just said it was!
Dogbert: That's precisely the power of the placebo.

Why not get yourself a placebo bracelet? Much better value

A scam is not a bargain. Even if you 'believe,' it's still not a bargain.

The claims of these products are outrageous and the ingredients list for these products in particular are very difficult to find.

      • there's a simple solution to that - lets come up with something right now…

what would you like to cure/treat/solve?

        • OK. I think that we should definitely pursue the idea that correlation is equivalent to causation. Works for me. Every time. Snap!

  • they even offer treatment for radiation sickness from leaking japanese nuclear plants….. http://homeopathyplus.com.au/radiation-sickness-and-poisonin…

Treatment: If radiation sickness has developed, your homeopath is the best person to advise on homeopathic treatment – remedies, dosages and potencies – as these will depend on the symptoms you are experiencing and their severity.

    • +1

I agree with the last part…. your homeopath is the best person to advise on homeopathic treatment

the rest of the world would not have a clue :P
