    Also reporting back. Bought $1000 Activ Visa card yesterday, split over 7 cards and paid $29 on the last card, staff was cool and processed super quick. Then bought Colesmyer on the last card to make up to $140. Cashback email received for all this morning :)

      also checked flybuys, no base points received for gift card purchase (unlike at Coles), so no bonus points with Onepass either. Only points received were for some small in-store purchases I made on the same day.

    Reporting back - spent $1120 over 8 cards on Thursday morning. Only received emails for 5 cards over the course of 24 hours. All 8 credits paid out this morning.

    I did a test purchase on Wed buying 1x CM GC for $140. Received no email but received $30 cashback yesterday (Fri).

    Went back yesterday and used my remaining 12x Amex cards to buy CM GCs….no issues with split payments at the store I visited but from this OzB thread split payments are a definite YMMV.

    Have received some emails but not 12!

    I bought 840 worth apple gv’s across 6 cards and the store guy was very upset and was reluctant to do split but he had already written denomination on the GV’s. Kept telling me he won’t do it EVER again! Waiting for Cashback now

    I went to Camberwell Officeworks yesterday. Plenty of stock of Coles myer giftcards and staff were really helpful, manager ok'd use of multiple Amex cards for purchase of gift cards.
    Just something to be aware of there was a $500 maximum limit on those Coles Myer gift cards. I had 3 cards and 3 supp cards so split it over 2*$420 gift cards but all in the 1 transaction for $840 debiting each of the cards for $140.

    i) Can I do split payments of A$140/each for 2 times?
    ii) Can I purchase Coles MYER gift card from Coles store, and still be entitled for the discount? That means I am not purchasing directly from OW

      You should be able to, as long as the staff member allows you to do this. Apparently, staff may see a warning message if they attempt split payments if you are wanting to purchase a gift card.

      No.

      You must purchase directly from Officeworks (in-store or online) in order to use this cashback offer, because that is what is contained in the offer's terms and conditions. Coles and Officeworks are completely separate businesses.

      Since it's not clear in your comment and you said you're not familiar with this so just wanted to make sure you understand it correctly but to get the cashback 2 times ($60 total) you will need to have 2 amex cards. The cashback can only be used once per eligible card.

          You can only claim this offer if your AMEX was specifically targeted for this deal and you activate it (either on the AMEX website or through the AMEX app). This is the reason the moderators have marked this deal as Targeted.

          I would be extremely surprised to see an overseas-issued AMEX targeted with this offer.

    Tried to use it on my 3 cards at OW Glen Waverley today and they wouldn't allow me to split payment so ended up having to buy 3 separate $140 giftcards which is a small annoyance but not a big deal I guess.

          Coles group card can be used in store at Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market, Vintage Cellars and Shell.

          But those booze and petrol outlets might not have the best deal. Agreed, Visa card has virtually no limit to where you spend it

      No fees on CM cards. You can also set the value so you don't have to buy more than you need just to get the cashback. They can also be used at other places like Kmart, Target, OW not just Coles.

    Got 5 out of 6 credits for buying Apple GC within 2 days of buying. The other probably didn’t get triggered properly, but amex usually will credit later if not just have to call them to get it credited.

      The Coles Group & Myer gift cards I have seen have white cardboard packaging, and the gift card itself is either on top of the packaging or inside it. Coles Group & Myer gift card text is emblazoned on both the packaging and the left-hand side of the front of the gift card.

      The gift card itself can have many different designs, and you can see some of these designs on the Coles Group gift card website.

      If you want to see a real-life example, have a look at this image I took a few weeks ago at a Shell Coles/Reddy Express and see whether you can spot the Coles Group & Myer gift card.

    can confirm that the split payments is dependent on the staff. Just managed to split the payment into 12 cards to get an Activ visa gift card and the balance on a coles myer card!

    Wasn't allowed to split. So I just got 5 x $200 Visas on 5 different transactions. Took them longer to sort. I don't shop at Coles/Myer so wasn't doing that
    Paid the $7.95 x 5 fee. $110 profit.

        Additional (supplementary) card holders. You can usually get up to 4 supps per primary personal card. I have 2 personal cards and 6 supps for a total of 8.

        Back in the golden age you could order additional cards without any real identity verification of the cardholder, this led to many family pets becoming supplementary AmEx holders. People used to open a couple of different fee free primary cards and load up on the supps to get 10-15 cards easily.

    I see everyone getting Coles Myer but they’re not much use to me.

    Can’t remember last time I set foot in an OW. Any other good cards? I’m thinking $560 of Apple is my best bet. Do they sell Woolworths group cards?

      No Woolworths at Officeworks. Just got to buy to suit your circumstances, they have heaps of different types of cards, usually at the queuing payment point.

      You're better off opting for the $500 Visa Gift Card and paying the $9 fee, which effectively gives you a discount of around 15% on "cash." In comparison, the $560 Apple Gift Card, at 21% discount with the OW promo, typically sells at a 10% discount. This means the additional value is only about 11%, making it less advantageous than the Visa Gift Card.

      I know the numbers aren't exact, but that’s the reasoning behind my suggestion.

      What I do with barcode-based cards is to take a photo of the physical card and save a shortcut to my phone's home screen next to my Flybuys. When I need to pay, I simply open the photo with one tap and scan it at the self-serve register.

      Try another time with a different staff member. Be explicit that they're different cards, apparently they can get into trouble for allowing the same card to be tapped more than once.
