Ordered Single Phase Home IQ I/N: 0708246. Got fulfilment email.

Then original order cancelled on the website, another placed to CHARGER LEAD AND CT CLAMPS 7KW OCULAR IQ HOME SINGLE PHASE I/N: 0708249 involuntarily. The photo and Powerpass app shows this as the LTE version.

Today, status changed to "Processing & Packing" and the got the email / SMS saying it was ready for pickup (Preston VIC).

Picked up the item as per original order (thankfully not the LTE). Received IOCAH30-7TE-RW. Opened and confirmed Home IQ with CT clamps.

Receipt shows 0708249 CHARGER LEAD AND CT CLAMPS 7KW++OCULAR IQ HOME SINGLE PHASE

    Good luck!

Picked up my OCULAR IQ HOME SINGLE PHASE.

    • Same. Sounds like it would be safest to get an ocular approved installer for warranty.

The solarquotes website has a “3 quote” thing to find someone. ~$1200 install likely according to them.

  • I just had a Ocular 3 phase installed at my home which only has a single phase powerboard. Highly recommend the installers who were priced reasonably and did a very good job. DM me if you wany their details. I am based Metro Sydney.

    • What was the cost and the cable run length if you don’t mind.

    • Oh great so that confirms the 3 phase can be setup on a single.

      • i can confirm this too!

hooked it up with a test plug (15a) and limited the charge current to 10a.

thought it wasn't working as the default charge current is 6a but you need the app to update it to whatever you want.

        • a touch over $1000 for 6m. was a bit higher than expected but was because they had to do some work on the meter box

  • Just called my store and they haven't received any stock yet. Apparently they want to follow up tomorrow. But it looks like not all stores have received stock yet nor do they get any updates from HQ.

  • Anyone else new to EVs like me, and amazed at how infrequent you need to charge (every 2-3 weeks for me), and shocked by the quotes for installs $1.5-$2k with ugly conduit runs.
Likely going to be sticking with the "granny" charger for a while and not rushing into an install any time soon.
Draw of the Granny charger is well below my Solar output, so no smarts needed.

So if you feel bad for missing the deal, don't you likely saved yourself some money.

    • Depends on how much you use the ev… a charge every 2-3 weeks is pretty infrequent so the granny charger is enough for you

    • +1

Yeah, granny charger is totally sufficient for a lot (perhaps most) people. Just depends on your usage/needs.

Granny charger can give you roughly 12kw of cheap charging (12-6am), which is enough to replenish say 50-100km or range (depending on the car). Double that to 24kw (100-200km) if leaving the car to charge overnight for 12 hours. Unless your commute is unusually large / you drive around a lot more than the average person, then that should be sufficient for most people. (Noting: For most people, they won't need to replenish the full amount used every day, because you're probably not driving the same distance every day.)

Granny charger wont work if you do a lot of back to back days of long driving - but if that is infrequent, you could pay for quite a bit of fast charging with the installation costs you saved! :)

"Chargers" like these are more about convenience and flexibility, not necessarily about cost (unless you are doing a lot of kms and need the faster charging to maximise solar / cheap off-peak charging, and/or keep up with your usage).

Just comes down to your personal circumstances, so you need to consider your own usage/needs. For most, installing a charger like this is probably overkill - a luxury that you may or may not be willing to invest in.

      • +1

with solar you want to throw the charge in fast when the sun is up

        • +1

I feel like that is exactly what I said:

unless you are doing a lot of kms and need the faster charging to maximise solar / cheap off-peak charging, and/or keep up with your usage)

You also have to have sufficiently sized solar AND usage (ie. used up battery in your car to charge back up) to make use of that faster speed.

But yes, that is exactly what I mentioned. Will depend entirely on your own circumstances whether it is worth it or not to you.

  • Have decided granny charger is suitable for me, so I don't need 3 phase LTE Plus 6m cable.

Finally got my ready for collection SMS and will pick it up in the evening. I got the tracking information this morning and it looks like Australia Post stuffed it up. It was due for delivery last Thursday and then got delayed several times. I've ordered IQ 22kw, fingers crossed that's what I'm going to pick up. As long as it's 22kw I won't complain.

Ordered 7kw IQ and received the IQ despite order updating with picture of the LTE.

  • picked it up yesterday and is exactly what i ordered, IQ 22kw. Just noticed that it says V2 does anybody know what the differences are to V1?

my bunnings price error order arrived today, so did this email from Amber. lol.

Great news! Your application to receive a free charger has been successful!

Thank you for participating in our Amber EV Automation Trial, we are keen to get you up and running with your Zappi charger to take advantage of wholesale prices and cheaper/greener charging.

I have cheap/free chargers up to my ears.

  • my single phase one was delivered and is in the classifieds

Just received dispatch details for LTE variant. For WA folks

  • I got the CHARGER PLUS THREE PHASE 22KW
OCULAR W 6M CABLE AND APP
Anyone know if this is able to be installed in Ipswich with Energex?

    • probably a job for an electrician

      • Definitely. But QLD has rules with what chargers can be installed if you’re wanting to be able to use your solar.

  • picked up from Armadale
0708247 CHARGER PLUS THREE PHASE 22KW++OCULAR W 6M CABLE AND APP

  • Have just had mine installed but can't seem to add the station to the app - it just says device is offline even though i can get it to charge (also seems like my serial number also doesn't start with AW). Has anyone had the same issue or had success with it?
    (7kw IQ)

    • Same here - just got the unit installed 15 mins ago and I told installers that I'll configure it myself. Found out that the charger needs to be connected to the network (Wifi or Ethernet) before you can add & configure the unit. Refer to page 14 of the installer's guide for the required steps: https://ocularcharging.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/IQ-…

Feel free to PM me if you need more assistance.

      Cheers'
      Nish

  • Anyone still waiting for their unit? Ordered the Ocular LTE Three Phase unit for pick up and haven't heard back other than the updates in early/mid dec saying the advised ETA by the supplier is late Jan to early Feb

    • +1

Yes still waiting Sydney leppington store.

      • Thanks - I'm in no rush so will wait until mid Feb to check if I don't hear from them

        • i ordered a single phase one and a 3 phase one. the single phase one has been delivered, no word on the 3 phase one yet.

  • EVSE confirmed that the 3 phase LTE can only be run on a single phase on L1.

can anyone confirm what is the minimum charge current you can set the charger at via the app?

    • Probably 32A given it's a 22kw charger

    • On the app minimum is 6A and max is 32A.

So in theory you can run this on a 10A single phase supply as long as you have a 10A breaker on the supply.

  • +2

Received mine in WA. Bunnings are the best - they’ll continue getting all my spare cash…

  • I just spoke to Bunnings support because I'm going overseas soon.
They confirmed my three phase LTE is expected to be delivered around the 21st of Feb, and I was able to change the delivery address and contact name.
I'm in WA. Home delivery order was assigned to Midland store.

  • The website only has reference to an SKU: IOCAH30-22TE-RW however the unit i have received is marked IOCAH30-22TE-CRW4

    Anyone know what's different?

  • I'm in WA and just got notice that mine is available for pick up. I ordered the Ocular 7kw single phase charger.

  • I got quoted $850 for installation of the Ocular 3 phase charger in SA. Is this about right?

    • with RBCO or just a circuit breaker?

      • Yes, with RCBO.

        • +1

depends on your current main switch board set up and cable run but dont think it's a bad price

          • @superbass: Suggested he will have to put a small box in besides the meter as not enough room in the mains box. More $$$

            • +1

@killabob: Yeh will need a new enclosure for the RCBO regardless. external enclosure would be more $ but Internal enclosure (within main) are cheap enough, so it should be included in $850 but depends if it has room in the main or not

  • so after getting a sparky to put a 3 phase plug on it and test it out, I realised the BYDs max out at 7kW (one phase) anyway.

still useful for those 3 phase wall sockets though (for some reason all the Perth CPP carparks have them and they are free to use)

    • I realised the BYDs max out at 7kW (one phase) anyway.

Just fwiw, Sealion 7 supports 11kw. I believe it is the first BYD that does.

  • Also got my IQ 22kw installed yesterday. I'm just wondering if anybody else has that same model and the reading from the CT clamps looks way off when you are not charging your EV.
Since i don't have an EV yet (for another 2 weeks) to test what it would look like under load. I've checked all the settings and clamp position/orientation and everything is according to the manual.
What I was wondering, is the charger going into some kind of sleep mode while you are not charging and whatever the app is showing, is just some kind of artifact and can be ignored.
I know that the numbers are wrong because I'm able to compare to my solar consumption meter and at time I was exporting more than 9kw, yet the ocular app is not even showing a negative value. L1, L2 and L3 are always hovering around 0 - 1.5A.
