wow - EV markup - https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-wall-mount-ev-charger-cano… - $169 for some powder coated steel

    • somehow, we're "the professionals"

    • +1

Might just 3d print one, business idea.

      • Choose filament that is UV stable. Or just print a new one after it crumbles.

    • where is an unmarked up one?

  • +1

Out of curiosity, anyone out there has a Tesla Charger purely just for its app functions without a 3 phase power?

    • Yes, i run it on single phase.

    • still charges fast on a single phase I read, just not as fast. And without the wall charger, I can't schedule charing time etc? is this right?

    • you also need a tesla car for a lot of the app stuff

  • I got the Ocular for $210 including trade discount. Its real people

    • +4

      In your hands?

      • +2

Yeah in your hands or it didn’t happen

        • +3

Ill keep you posted. We do like 1m to bunnings each year and they keep stuffing up.

They are on a tightrope, swear to god.

  • did anyone get the tesla wall charger for $710? looks like its back up to $800 now

    • +3

      yep. Picked up one yesterday

  • +1

Didn't these used to have a 22kw limit? Why does this Bunnings ad only say 11kw? Just a typo?

    https://www.revcharge.com.au/product/tesla-gen-3-wall-connec…
    "7.2kW or 22kW Power Compatibility"

    • +3

M3 and MY only have 11kW charger onboard.

EVSE is technically capable of 22kW output with certain vehicles.

  • Why do they call this a charger? Isn't it just an interface box and the charger is in the vehicle? Unless it is DC charging?

    • +1

its more like a phone docker. It also have built in wifi and lets you control the charging.

  • +1

Wow, the more I read into the Ocular IQ the more it appears to be quite poorly implemented software-wise. Really hope they take on board some feedback to improve it. Two areas of concern (from the FAQ):

    1. "DO I HAVE TO BE PLUGGED INTO THE CHARGER BEFORE A SCHEDULED APP CHARGING SESSION? Yes, you must be plugged in before the start of the App scheduled session to have the schedule function work. Eg. if you set a schedule from 6 pm to 7 pm you must be plugged in before 6 pm for the scheduling to start. If you plug in after 6 pm then you need to press the start button on the App to start a charging session. This will override the schedule for the individual charging session for the day"

      • This is horrible. Who would want the scheduler to work like this? Just have it as a simple "if time is in the scheduled on time, enable charge anytime it's plugged in. If not, don't". Why would they make it so that you had to have the car plugged in at the start of the scheduled time? The scheduler on my simple wifi smart plug on my current granny charger works better than this.

    2. "WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHARGER GOES OFFLINE OR LOSSES INTERNET? If the unit goes offline the charger will actively try to re-connect. The app will not work if the WI-FI has dropped out. If this happens charger will not work unless "plug and charge" was set on the app or until the WI-FI signal returns."

      • so if you are using the scheduling function (which requires you to turn "plug and charge" off), the charger won't work unless you have an active internet connection. So they've clearly implemented the scheduling function in the cloud which just tells the dumb charger to turn on and off. Poor form - this should have been implemented in the unit itself. Again, the scheduler on my simple wifi smart plug on my current granny charger works better than this.

    • +1

Yes. Cloud based so if the company goes bust then no charging unless you enable plug and charge. You can do this via the local web portal

      • doesn't enabling ocpp disable most of the app stuff anyway?

        • Yeah but too bad the OCPP integration via Home Assistant doesn't work with Ocular

    • +1

I wonder if it’s in the standards/regulations. I have limited EV exposure, but on my EV it works the same when you schedule via the car, regardless of charger/wall connector. Plug-in later and it won’t work.

    • This actually sounds really shit

  • Has anyone received anything or shipping notification of anything that isn’t Tesla or Arlec?

    • +2

      Status still "order taken"

    • +2

Negatively, they would normally have progressed to "processing" by now.
Positively, I've had price errors before from Bunnings, cancelled within minutes to hours.
Perhaps they are trying to negotiate

      • You might be right. Bunnings has confirmed it is a pricing error (Ocular) and going to get a new price from the supplier. Be interesting to know what that price will be.

        • Did they email you or you contact them

        • What does this mean? They'll offer them to us at a new price?

          • +1

@devize: Ill know more tomorrow. Cant speak for everyone either. It was via their builder service team.

I am not a regular customer.

            • +1

@Korban Dallas: Any word? Sorry, I’m impatient lol

              • @WhyAmICommenting: Nope. I am too¡

                • +1

@Korban Dallas: It's pretty poor form that they haven't even contacted people yet.

                  • @Aureus: To be fair we’ve made payment in full and had a clear description of the item purchased as well as estimated timing for collection. I’m taking it to mean the orders are locked in so we won’t hear anything until ready for collection. And if that’s the case the form is great! Haha.

                  • +2

@Aureus: No response today. Probably in damage control.

            • @Korban Dallas:

"So i did a combo of delivery, click and collect, trade and direct trade enquiry."
Your earlier post implies you had 4 cracks at this cherry

So going to go out on a limb here, and suspect the email was in response to either your "trade" or "direct trade" enquiry and that no one that placed an actual order has received any comms other than "order taken".
Talking to others for special order items, seems completely normal for the status to stay "order taken" and not change to "processing" until the stock arrives at the store.
No actual experience having special orders posted, so unsure when they change to processing.
We likely won't know until mid next week.

              • @UltimateAI: That is correct. It was night time when i ordered online. Next day emailed trade.

          • @devize: Wouldn't surprised if canned, i bet if you messaged now it would be "we can offer a refund"

Anybody else noticed that Bunnings changed the order? I purchased the ocular 22kw 3 phase IQ charger for 230. Now it's claiming I just purchased a 10m, 3 phase cable.

PayPal still shows the correct snapshot of my order and I've got screenshots of the whole product page and item number which clearly states the charger.

    • Nope. I checked the order under my account and it still shows the correct description

      • +2

That's good. The thumbnail is still correct, but the headline has changed. And if I click the product it leads nowhere. If anybody actually receives the charger at that price, please post a prove so everyone else has something to relate to. If they fulfill one order they have to do all of them.

    • you are correct. The title of my order of that very item has been changed to that same cable as well in the online order history. I am sure they are fixing their stuff ups, however we bought a charger, not a cable.

    • Whats it say in your order confirmation email?

      • +2

My Bunnings confirmation email also has the headline for that 10m cable, but the photo of the charger and the SKU for the charger, which I took a photo of that day. I photographed that whole website + PayPal confirmation email has the actual charger headline. In my case everything is pointing towards the charger😁.

        • +2

My email shows: Ev Cable Type 2-Type 2++Ocular Three Phase 10m I/N:0708252

Bunnings order page: EV CABLE TYPE 2-TYPE 2 OCULAR THREE PHASE 10M I/N: 0708252

          Paypal shows:

          Purchase details
Ocular IQ Home Three Phase 22kW Type 2 Lead & CT Clamps
          Item number0708252

But still no update from Bunnings

          • +2

@LHSolutions: exactly the same. I also got an SMS from my store, that my order will be ready by the end of next week. unfortunately it only states my order number, no product description.

          • @LHSolutions: Ditto here.

  • Still no updates from Bunnings. At this point I expect the order to go through, otherwise why would they be taking so long?

  • CS confirmed it is just the leads/clamps for IN#0708251 (Ocular LTE Three Phase 22kw wall charger /w 6M cable)

Was a glitch with no ETA from supplier.

    Got a refund

    • +1

Clearly a pricing glitch, but note on the marketplace they still have "Ocular LTE Three Phase 22kw wall charger /w 6M cable", and crystal clear this is for the wall connector NOT just a cable.

    • I think it's more confirmed that it was SUPPOSED to be just the leads/clamps but that's clearly not what the product description said.

I won't be asking for a refund until they tell us more.

  • +1

That would be cool if confirmed true :)

    • +2

found that post too. Fingers crossed it is going through.

    • +2

Not so much for the guy who cancelled their order. 😆

  • -1

I only bought it for the compensation voucher. Can I use the 3 phase ev charger in my single phase house to charge my phone

  • Starting to think due to the time delay they are going to honour it. Why last week did they not just cancel everyones orders and move on?

    • +1

I’m still pretty positive - the advertised price and product was very clear and we’ve paid in full. It would be odd to sit on everyone’s money only to cancel late in the piece. My indicated delivery timing was end of this week so I reckon it’s just a matter of products needing to arrive, hence we’ve not yet heard further. Bunnings are usually really great with stuff and probably know they’ll make it all back in repeat business as a result. Let’s see!

      • +3

Yeah 90% off drones and $2 plasterboard sheets are much worse than this.

  • Also - the advertised pricing drove a fair bit of online awareness for their entry into EV products… there’d value in that and a consideration for then cancelling the orders that resulted. Who knows though!

Hey everyone just thought I'd provide an update with my order.

Called Bunnings this morning to check what is happening with my order "Status: Order Taken" for almost a week now.

Put me on hold for a few mins while they "checked with the supplier". Came back and said supplier was packing the order today and should be ready for pickup within a week.

    • +1

Great news, thanks for the update

    • +1

Forgot to mention, I ordered the

CHARGER LEAD & CT CLAMPS 22KW OCULAR IQ HOME THREE PHASE
      I/N: 0708251

      for $250

  • +4

Scheduled for the 12th still yay

    • Are you seeing that on your order history? Or your special account portal?

  • Any updates, anyone? :D

    • I paid with paypal and today they actually took the money out of my bank account. Before it was just pending. I would assume if they really wanted to cancel the order it would have been a lot easier/cheaper while everything is pending.

What I'm currently seeing in my bunnings purchase history is that cable. Again that changed after I bought the charger and the thumbnail is still clearly showing the charger not just an overpriced extension cord.
      https://evse.com.au/product/10-metre-type-2-to-type-2-ev-cha…

  • Still 'order taken', but interesting in my Trade account if I 'reorder' and "add to cart" from the order summary, a message pops up stating that the item can only be purchased in store
