Bought one, thanks for the post.

    60Hz though

    • It's not a gaming tv

      • +3

        not good for sports though

        • +1

It's not that simple. Not advocating for this tv, but a lot more factors impact how sports present than just hz.

    • What would be the next one up that has 120Hz and HDMI 2.1?

      • +2

I am looking for a TV around 55" at the moment, and TCL C745 or C755 generally seem to be the cheapest with 144hz and HDMI 2.1 from what I have seen.

    • How does a tv change the Hz it receives? We are on 50Hz , so how does it crank up them Hz ?
I work in an industry that uses machines to change Hz so I’d like to know how a TV does it.

      • It's just how many times the panel refreshes per second. Hz is just a measurement.

      • Think the TV just fills in the in between frames doesn’t it? Which helps smooth our fast action. And make it look a bit like daytime soap.

      • +1

When you hear people refer to 100hz on tv they're referring to the field rate of the display, not the input power.

    • Generally, if you use free to air, basic Netflix et all, your source will only be 60Hz (ie most of the public). Its only people into gaming consoles (your kids) or premium streaming services that may have higher Hz input source.

I paid $1588 for the 85” a few days ago and got delivered today. Came across this post and check the price again and it was now $1288….damnit!!!
Did a quick search on google and call JbHifi asking for a partial refund on the price difference, she lady was awesome, did a $300 refund on spot after confirming my name and phone number.
What a bargain for 85” TV.
I owned a 65” like 4 years ago and still going strong, great budget tv.

    • Hi what do you think of the 85" I'm about to get one the picture quality looked great in store but im not sure if it was just their images…

How does a normal movie look if you've watched any?

    • +2

How much cheaper can a tv get? I recall 32" was below $1k and still working fine. Then 40", then 50", then 60", now 75" below $1k. My room size cant keep up. Any bigger and I'd need to watch my tv from my neighbours room.

Not sure this tv is Mini LED?

      • +1

Thanks, Hisense and their stupid model names. I don't think I could ever touch a FALD panel again after owning Mini LED.

        • I’m still hanging onto my Hisense 55PX OLED from this deal… it’s got the ABC news logo burnt into the bottom right corner but be damned if it still doesn’t look amazing in 2024!

          • @jackary: That seems like a dent price for OLED back then

            • @DannyBoy: Oh man, I thought I’d hit the jackpot so I bought 2!

        • Why?

        • How our the blacks on the Mini LED units?

          • +1

@DannyBoy: Outstanding. I have a QN90A and it’s bloody brilliant. I also have an S95B but prefer the peak brightness of the QN90A.

No stock anywhere around Sydney it seems. Factoring in delivery, kinda comes into the ballpark of the Kogan 144hz qleds delivered at ~800 — no idea how it stacks up for the faster refresh.

    • Would love insight into the Kogan tvs

Is it worth taking the risk with a Chinese brand?

    • +8

Your phone is made in China and most of your appliances are too. What is your point?

Do your research on the spec and quality. Not where it is made. People nowadays.

      • -3

I bet you were the person who bought a Teac TV back in the 90s just to save some money.

        • I bet you are a ignorant hypocrite. Just like the "just stop oil" people. Stop oil and then drove home in a petrol car.

Look buddy, all I am saying is we need to stop double standards. If you have concerns for product made in a particular country, then you should first check yourself to ensure nothing in your life is made from that country. Then, and only then, you would have to right to bag that country. Don't be a hypocrite.

          • @Mydc5r: You're missing my point. I was referring to Hisense being a Chinese brand. That's completely different to an American or Japanese brand that builds in China. Are you suggesting that a Mercedes or BMW that's made in the USA is the same quality as a domestic Ford or Chevy?

            • @Mondorock: You are missing my point.
You judge the quality of the item and not the country where it is made. Period.

Depending on the item, some country will make it better than others

              • @Mydc5r: Yes, but this like all Chinese brands are all too "new" to have any trust in them yet. Other established brands have been around for far longer.

                • @Mondorock: Since we live in a free market, I say let the bad companies die and the good ones thrive.

                • @Mondorock: Sharp have been around since 1912 and made good TV's >20 years ago. I would buy a Hisense over a Sharp today.

Is this good enough for a main TV in the lounge??

    • -1

What's with the downvotes? Seems like a valid question?

  • +3

have had a hisense for 4 years now

once you realise the worthless premium m charged by the Korean TV brands, you never want to go back

    • +1

Me too. 2020 model (75Q8 with FALD). Its been outstanding. PS stuck a shield on it for even better 4K up scaling 1K streaming netflix etc over inbuilt.
Also followed the "fad" and got a TCL C845 last year. picture quality is bright, but not as natural as the highsense. My next 85 will be 85U6NAU after seeing one in a shop today. Those Qdots really knock out the colours !

      • Wonderful information thanks for sharing, I will look at 85U6NAU closely!

  • does it have local dimming ?

  • +1

    $685 is absolute bargain

  • +1

Wife said no. 😂 still rocking a 10yo kogan

    • +1

Time to trade in your wife 😶‍🌫️

  • reckon this one will start up faster than a 2015 or 2016 Hisense?

    • Yes, tried the interface, pretty smooth to the point that a Firestick seemed redundant

  • +2

Price beat is up to $712 now.

  • the link is down, does that mean its out of stock? i was planning to get it tomorrow
