Just bought 10 going to flog it off to the family for $20 each

    • +7

      true ozbargainer behaviour!

    • Username checks out

    • +3

I think you should also consider selling them to your family after you are done with that whole flogging off bit.

  • Don't they add in the shipping costs? The other people charge almost $15 for delivery.

    • nope, this code didn't

  • +8

Recently used this on a second hand car which had a musty smell everytime it was turned on. It worked great but I made sure to fill the plenum and cover the condenser. The citrus smell of the product lingered for a couple of days but after that, no more smells.

I'd recommend removing your cabin air filter when using this.

    • +1

whats a plenum? AC / Radiator shop tell me they just put in the vents :(

      • Yeah where do I actually put the hose?

        • +4

You put the hose into the air vents then hold the trigger until the vent is full of foam. Make sure you remove the cabin air filter. These will make foam when out of the can and will slowly tan in to water. I have used these many times. Smell is similar to hospital grade disinfectants.

        • There is a YouTube video about it. Also fill up the place where water drops on an

      • +2

Where on the body is the Plenum?

        • There's multiple types of plenums in a car but the one required for this product in your case will likely be in front of the windscreen.

        • +3

          Next to the plumbus

        • +2

Between the windshield and firewall. Pop the bonnet and you should see vents for where air enters into the cabin.

      • Normally we might call this the air vents next to the front windscreen?

      • +3

Pop the bonnet and between the windshield and firewall you'll most likely have a plastic grill where air from outside of the car enters into the cabin. The tube didn't fit inside of the grill for me but I was able to aim the foam down the cavities on the drivers and passenger side.

You can just go through the vents inside the car but you might find water dripping out of your dash. With all the electrics, I didn't want to chance this.

The most effective place for this is on the condenser which is where the mould usually accumulates. I had to remove my glove box to access the fan. Removing the fan allowed me to feed the tube far enough to reach the condenser. It may sound complicated but it was actually very straight forward and only involved removing three screws.

        Obviously each car is different.

    • @chigga which places do you spray into? I've watched a few youtube videos but they all do different things. Some say spray into the plenum (under windshield), others spray directly into the space where you put the cabin filter (after removing the filter), others spray directly into all the interior air vents (outlet).

  • Nice. Got 4 cans, they work really well

  • +1

i dont recommend i think the smell is worse it may be the scent its hospital grade disinfectant, my radiator shop has a similar product but is vanilla scented that he recommended

    • +3

True. I switched to I steam cleaning . I connect the steam cleaner hose to the drain tube and send steam. No more nasty smell.
According to a video posed on carecarenut ( YouTube channel), you are supposed to open all doors and crank the can’t max to get rid of the smell.

  • +1

Looks great. Is there a similar product for a split system house air con?

  • Have used this before. It's good stuff and works! Thanks for sharing 👍

  • Can this be used for dusted systems

    • It won't really remove dust

    • -1

Maybe don’t get the dust in there in the first place.

  • +2

Dont buy it if your AC doesnt stink. Not worth it as a maintenance clean

  • It works very well on my Toyota which only 2nd year but got sewage smell very time car turned on. Toyota service did air con cleaning using bombing can but it was useless and told me nothing else they can do to remove the smell also persuaded me it's normal just open window for a few seconds it'd be fine. I used this product following youtube and bad smell gone completely. The chemical smell will linger a few days but all good after that.

  • +2

Look at changing your aircon/cabin filters first lol

    • You mean the filter that's at the front of the car under the bonnet? And then I spray this cleaner into the filter box?

      • in the glovebox

      • +2

        No.
That is the engine air filter.

The cabin filter is usually in the passenger seat footwell

      • +2

Depends on the car. The cabin filter is usually behind the glovebox, though on some vehicles (especially Euro) it's under the hood but close to the firewall/base of the windscreen area.

If you're referring to the filter box close to the front of the car near the headlights that'll be the engine air filter. Never put anything there as it'll go directly into the combustion chambers.

        • If you're referring to the filter box close to the front of the car

          That's the box I meant.
The can says it's flammable so if the liquid is already there it can't be too bad now can it?

          • @spaceflight: Bro, just don't spray it into your engine air filter box. The cabin filter is found by removing your glove box, then a plastic cover possibly kept on by a screw.
            *Do not spray under bonnet"

            • +3

@SonOfATightASS: There's no filter behind my glove box.

After a lot of cranking and a minute of not being happy I think my engine is fresh and clean. The exhaust smells better now too

  • Can we clean house back to back air conditioning unit grills with this please?

  • Is it 1 can for single usage?

    • That depends how much you need to use

    • No. I've used it a few times. Should last for several applications

Waiting for a forum thread on Monday….

My car won't start after using AC cleaner. I start work in 20 minutes. Help!! Google search has told me that cars have several filters. What is a cabin filter?

    • Cabin filter is a little filter located inside the dashboard glove box. It filters the HVAC system and has nothing to do with the car not starting

      • Cabin filter blocks scents. Cheers

        • Check the battery connections and wriggle to see if starts. Plus make sure your transmission gear lever is either neutral or park

          • @vinni9284: Thanks. Tried that. Still not starting.

            • @MS Paint: Pop the bonnet and locate the starter motor Tap it a few times with a screwdriver or wtench and try to start. The dash cluster lights up?

              • @vinni9284: That was it. A technical tap on the starter motor and she roared into life. Thanks legend.

                • +1

@MS Paint: Yep. Starter needs replacing. You're welcome. I'm glad i helped

                  • @vinni9284: I'll get onto it after work. Thanks again.

                    • +1

@MS Paint: Check starter connections if they are not loose or corroded before replacing. Cheers

                      • @vinni9284: Perfect. I'll try that tomorrow morning.

                        • +1

@MS Paint: If they are you able be able to ziptie some alfoil to the connections and be on your way.

I used this for a mouse infested car I picked up lol. Mice entered via the aircon and it (profanity) stunk. I have used multiple cans. IMO it is much better to inject it straight up the tube that drops shit when you're running the aircon. (Forget what it's called at the moment)

    It works well.

    • Evaporator drain line?

  • The instructions are not clear. Insert into the air inlet of the AC system is very vague. Also AC system is full of foam. Really unclear about where to foam. Have watched a video on YouTube. Any help would be appreciated.

  • +1

    Thanks Op. Grabbed 4

  • Didn't even know this existed… But now I want one!

  • The place where you want this foam to go to is the evaporator. It is usually hidden deep under the centre console. I usually get the tube to the evaporator via the cabin filter space. So remove the cabin filter (one of the potential causes for smelly aircon), use an endoscopic light that connects to the phone screen to see where you are going, find the evaporator and wiggle the tube there and spray.

Should work on home AC? The code is still working.

  • My ac stinks like rotten eggs when I smash the pedal. Even with the windows up and the AC on recirculating. Dealership claim it’s normal. Kia Cerato btw.

  • +1

Yeh code still works just grabbed a can to do the outside coil of the home air conditioner, not sure about using it on the car, there are some scary reviews on the SCA website for it

  • I've also used this on multiple cars and highly recommend. If you follow the instructions properly it works fine. If you aren't confident watch a youtube video first to get a better idea of the process.

Valvoline used to have a really good one years ago but they stopped making it for some reason. I liked the smell, the CRC brand has no smell after a few days so might be preferred by some.

  • +1

This works and an official link too, on how to use

  • Has anyone tried to request another price beat code?
