          • +2

@armageddeus: Yes most of them are the solar panels reviews but still if u check closely there is one who has bought the power station some time ago and part of the comments as below:

We bought the LX PS600 power station from Yardforce some time ago and are still impressed by the small but nice power storage device.

Better than nothing 1vs1 comment tie

            • @aussiebg: Probably going to regret it, becos I chose this (no name) instead of the Ecoflow Delta 2 for $749 (after cashback). Sigh..!

              • @armageddeus: You will regret it, just ask those people who bought cheaper office chairs instead of the discounted $2,000 Herman Miller chairs ;-p

  • I feel sorry for anyone that jumped onto this deal.

For these at the moment, brand is everything. You really shouldn't look at anything other than Bluetti. I've extensively tested all the no name garbage about a year ago, and Jaycar finally replaced one of their own brand units with a Bluetti EB3A… OMG, i can't put into words the difference in quality. I paid the difference to upgrade to something bigger.

For power stations, it's pretty simple:
    1. Bluetti
    2. Ecoflow (though these can be loud)
    3. Allpowers "R" series.
    <huge gap>
    4. Everything else.

I'm happy for someone to prove me wrong with these units, but i wouldn't even take the risk.

    • +2

Factored into the price I guess.
What were the issues with this brand in general/ product in particular or are you just giving a blanket statement.

      • This was on regards to a cheap Jaycar unit:

The inverter wouldn't work after a while. This happened a couple of times on different units.

On top of that the fans are loud in these things and i suspect they are prone to overheating. I don't believe that they are actually pure sine wave either.

Power conversion is extremely inefficient too, a 268wh Bluetti EB3A will last much longer because the inverter is much more efficient. Remember these have to convert voltage no matter how you use them, 240v, 12v, 5v (the 12v may actually be pass through from the 14.8v battery, but it still didn't last as long as the Bluetti when i used it in 12v setup either).

Save the hassle if you are getting this just to run 12v and get your own battery plus a Victron Smartsolar 75/15, the quality and battery monitoring on the Victron are incomparable.

If you must have a portable power station with 240v too then go the Bluetti. Jaycar price match brick and mortar stores and stock Bluetti.

I've owned this powertech plus the 500wh unit they've discontinued, I no longer have either of them. I've also had and returned a couple of Ecoflow units (river, river 2 pro). I currently have a Bluetti EB3A, Bluetti EB70, and an Allpowers R600. The Allpowers is the quietest of them all, but nothing I've used comes close to the quality of the Bluetti. My 12v setup has a Victron Smartsolar 75/15 and the bluetooth app let's you monitor charge and power levels, though I've put a Renogy shunt on this to monitor my battery, which is a cheap 100AH Kings Lithium that's done the job. Spend the extra $$$ on quality brands, or spend $199 on this powertech unit to learn that lesson (if you return it within 30 days as per jaycar policy then the lesson is free, that's what i was lucky enough to do).

        • +2

I know there are better quality power stations on the market, but you have to realise this is OzBargain, people come here to buy products on sale. So unless you know a good deal on Bluetti power stations such as 50% discount, no point just telling people to buy good quality product and pay the retail price at OzBargain.

    • +3

Sounds like just a blanket whinge, no actual facts about this product. I've used Bluetti as well and they fail plenty, look up the reviews. Everything fails. As Stevie said, factored into the price, it's 1/4 of the Ecoflow equivalent price.

      • +2

Yep or because they missed out.
My coofly has been exceptional so far.
Got this because of anderson plugs

        • +2

Got this because of anderson plugs

Your house will be off the grid soon

        • Is that Anderson plug a standard size 50A one or some special mini type?

            • @easternculture: Not an electrician but it says 12a max and 30 vdc. The ITechworld cable says 50 amp 30 amp. The snowies one below doesn't really specify. Worried 30 amp mini cable is too much when the manual says 12A max. Asked ITechworld over phone and could not answer specifically as not their power station. Does that mean the 30 A cable is OK the mppt regular will just reduce to 12a?
              Worried about the aliexpress quality.
Anyone got a link to an exact match cable from a physical store or reputable supplier or know for certain if itechworld is the one?

              • @exulted: The iTechworld adapter seems like the correct one, but quite expensive at $39. The AliExpress option cannot ship to Australia. Snowys's adapter is also correct but no longer in stock. I have googled and cannot find elsewhere to readily sell this adapter anywhere, maybe I have to make one myself.

                • @edfoo: Cheers, was more thinking if we pump more than 12a (ie 30a) through whatever connector/adapter we make will the mppt in the battery just dumb it down or blow a butt gasket. Also, the snowies looked like 10a when I read it, which means we're short changing charging speed of an extra 2 amps?

                  • @exulted: I think as long as your solar panel/blanket does not provide over 30A current, you should be fine. I have a 200W solar blanket which can provide maximum of 11A current, which is way under the 30A limit the mini Anderson plug can handle. As for the 12A limit, are you referring to the maximum current the built-in MPPT solar regulator?

Edit: Just saw a YouTube review on G Power U1000, seems very similar to this Yard Force unit - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7SFQ0NNhls

                    • @edfoo: Yep the manual says 'max 12A' for the anderson port. First time using battery solar, bought the kings bi-facial panel which says 16.6A and ITechworld 200w raptor blanket which says 10.64A, so will see how it goes.

        • I don't need another portable power station at the moment. I just wanted to give people a heads up. My recommendation on the stuff like this is give it a thorough test and return it if you're not confident it will actually perform as claimed.

      • +1

I posted the Allpowers R600 for $199 deal about this time last year, and you should have seen the number of those that had errors. I even sent mine back as a warranty claim and it has since been flawless.

I got burned by several no name brands that claim certain levels of output, but then fail to achieve. If you do the groundwork and test it out yourself you'll find that the Bluetti units are much more efficient at converting from their battery to your desired voltage. My EB70 lasts about 3 times as long as my Allpowers R600 because it has more efficient 12v conversion (roughly 80% efficiency vs 70%). Also note that the EB70 gives a constant 13.4v output on the 12v cigarette plug, so similar to what a car will do. The Allpowers R600 gives 11.8-12.4v and sometimes triggers the low battery alarm on 12v devices like fridges. I get constant 14v from my 100AH 12v Kings battery and there is no conversion loss at all.

I'd like to know the problems people are having with Bluetti, as most of the issues i know people have had with the EB70 are the noisy charger (i fixed this by charging with a 230w HP laptop charger instead), and over voltage on the solar input. Mine has been flawless so far.

I agree about things being factored into the price. Everyone has a different use case for these devices, and for me silent operation was a priority. Equally, i needed a unit that would just work as it stated, and the Jaycar branded units couldn't achieve the levels of output claimed from the inverters for sustained periods of time.

  • Mine still just says processing
