You guys got a steal in that case. Missed out, but glad to see it's decent for the lucky ones.

  • Is anyone else's order still stuck in 'processing'?

    • Yep, delivery order(Hobart)

    • Mine is .. Sydney buyer for what it's worth.

  • +3

Apologies for being the bearer of bad news, I have had my order cancelled and a refund in process. I called the head office and was told it is now a discontinued item and won't be stocked again. They have since over sold on the black friday deal and will be sending cancellation emails out. You may be lucky and still receive it when the final stores receive stock next week, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • +1

I ordered 2. One came through. The other one just got refunded today

  • Pretty average customer service. Zero correspondence in over a week, order is still processing wtf 🙄. Time for a PayPal dispute I guess

    • Did you do a C&C? It might still be going to the store and waiting to be processed by them. Maybe ring the store and ask as well?

This might also apply to you

  • +2

I got mine, but it was doa. I took it back and they gave me a new one. 😉

    • +1

I was lucky to get a replacement. I'm happy that there are no other reports of them not charging like my initial one, but surprised I was the only one. I was thinking I would get a refund, but glad they gave me a new one, one that works. I'm now on the lookout for a good car fridge and solar panel for my car's roof. 🌞😎

      • You got lucky. I had that with an ebay deal Powerbank but just got the refund unfortunately as sold out

        quickly via OzBargain.

    • What store ? 🏪

      • Mitchelton.

  • Is it normal the charging brick gets ridiculously hot while charging? The fan on the unit is also going while charging.

    • +1

mine get pretty hot but not as hot as VoltX M2000 charging brick which charges almost double (115W v 215W)

Cygnett GaN charger gets hot charging 100W too

  • +1

Sadly my order was cancelled and refunded today after I ordered it on 2 December (Pendle Hill Sydney store)

    • +1

Sorry mate. My condolences. I'd be pretty bummed too.

  • Charging time on this is ridiculously inaccurate. The last 26mins to 100% on the indicator took an extra 2 hours to reach full.

  • Interesting to see if someone out there does a teardown

  • My order got cancelled:(

  • It’s been radio silence but just got a “your package is on the way email”. There’s still hope!

        • Argh 😫
          I'm sorry 😔

        • Yes, what a shame, if they don't have enough stock to sell, why have it listed for the black Friday sale?

  • +1

Mine was sitting at my front door when I arrived home from work. Zero tracking info or email notifications. Possibly delivered by the local store as the invoice was sitting loose on top of the package with no sign of any AusPost or courier labels

    • Probably was cheaper since it contains battery and would require road transport all the way.

          • @22slurpee: Solar noob here, is this all i need to get solar charging on the yard force

  • Got an email update from local Mitre10 store, to stay I won't be getting the order until next year, early January due to their shutdown period from December 19th to January 9th

  • Does anyone know if I could reuse a decomissioned domestic solar panel to charge this? A friend is getting the old system replaced and I can grab as many of the old panels as I want. Some of them are damaged but I've been told there are a few that are working 100%

  • +1

?? Most house panels are over 30v which is the highest it will take read a post that a guy went over it smelt burning and unit stopped

  • +1

Open Circuit Voltage Voc (V) 36v

    Unit only takes 10-30v

Is this hack real? You can charge your power station faster by using 2 inputs. How? This guy on YouTube says the USB-C PD port can be used as a second input. For example, plug your AC charger into the power station to charge, and then use your USB-C AC charger to charge via the power station's PD socket. Has anyone tried this?

    • interesting - the USB C does say output but it is a USB C 100W PD

    • +2

I just tried it, it doesn't charge via the PD port under any configuration.

Edit: And that video isn't even the same device lol.

      • -1

So why did you try it? Lol

        • Why did you even think a totally different device would work in the same way? let alone make a post about it working.

          • -2

@stumo: I didn't say it was working. I'll ask you the same question, 'Why did you even think a totally different device would work in the same way?'

            • +2

@shoppe: Because you didn't say it was a totally different device? This is a thread about this device. Any sane person would think a post describing how "You can charge your power station faster…" would apply to this power station we are all talking about.

But no, it turned out to be some random power station that you somehow thought might apply to this one we all have, without even a hint that it is a totally different device in your post.

I didn't find out about this insane situation until after I tested it - hence the "EDIT:". My device was sitting right there, and I had a USB-C charger sitting right there, so it was quicker to just plug it in and see, rather than sitting through adverts then watching what turned out to be a random youtube video. The video may as well have been a rick-roll lol.

              • -5

                @stumo: … without even a hint…..lol
                …insane situation…lol
                …rick roll….lol

I don't think the situation is the only thing/person insane? 🤔

Bought this to charge the unit - https://www.bcf.com.au/p/xtm-160w-folding-solar-panel-kit/69…

When I plug it in, the battery charging animation on the unit starts but doesn’t show the watts input nor the time needed to reach 100%.

    Any ideas?

    • +3

EDIT: All sorted. I had to bypass the regulator on the panels. 👍🏻

      • What's your max input watts achieved so far ? Thanks.

        • I have seen 109W but there was a little bit of cloud about. I’ll try again on a full sunny day.

          • +2

@ShortyX: So it was in full sun today, and still 109W. I did see it peak up to 143W for a little bit then come back down. I'm assuming the unit is regulating the power going in?

            • @ShortyX: Set it up again today and it was sitting at 144W for a bit then 132W.

            • +1

              @ShortyX:

I'm assuming the unit is regulating the power going in?

Nope, I put a 230W 20V laptop charger on the solar input of mine, and it pulled in 225W continuously.

Note that it will taper off once the battery is above about 90% SOC, due to the cells, not the device.

        • Im getting 180watt on a 200w kings bifold panel at 2:50pm. Also got ITechworld 200w raptor skin blanket, not ideally positioned got flat on ground with minor shading and is pulling 79watt, but that unit is 95% charge so that one was only getting about 65w on the kings as well

      • +1

I assume you are referring to the MMPT on the panels? That isn't required since the Power Station has one built in.

        • +1

          Yep 👍🏻

  • +1

Keep coming here to educate myself on the unit have not found a teardown video yet

Long time lurker, first time commenter - but hey, I snagged one and did a partial teardown and tests on my unit:
    https://goughlui.com/2024/12/24/review-teardown-yard-force-1…

In my opinion, everyone who managed to grab one has done very well for their money. Thanks @relentlessM8 for posting the deal!

    • +2

Great teardown and exploration into your gadgets & gizmos.

      Keep it up! :-)

    • +1

Loved this too. Some of it was definitely above my pay grade, but it was well written and a great education too 👍🏻

    • +1

      wow thanks for the teardown

  • +2

Read the review very good very technical
You should get companies to send you units for review and keep them for your labour

  • +3

We had a power cut in our street 2pm yesterday.

By 8pm the power company were still working on it. Replacing a transformer so pretty big job. Saying it would take all night.

I was worrying about the stuff in our fridge by then. Then I remembered about this power pack. It ran the fridge perfectly and saved our fridge full of food. Probably paid for itself that one time.

    • +2

Wow…that's an excellent product endorsement right there.

  • Bought the allpowers 200w solar panel from Amazon, however was incorrectly specced. Listing advertised Open Circuit voltage as 22.2V, but when tested it was 44.4V. Luckily did not "ruin" the Yard Force power station limited 30V input. Fingers cross.
Anyone know what is the solution to get this solar panel to work? Do I get a mppt to regulate the 44.4v down to 30v?

  • +1

For those who ordered C&C and are still waiting for their order… check your order status.

I never received an email notification to say it was ready for pick up, but did get a sms reminder. When I checked my order status, it said complete (apparently completed for click and collect orders means it's ready for pickup).

  • Still checking would not mind getting seconds/ faulty

  • Hmmms i think my one just died. Stop charging and got this funny 19 u14 message when the charger is plugged in.

    • Oh no! Keep us posted. I haven't used mine much yet. What have you been using it for? Any heavish loads?

  • +1

no heavy loads, just used it in inflate deflate mattress, the max was using small 600w kettle a few times and mostly just charging my powerbanks and ryobi batteries.

  • One store said they went back up in price thus they should have a replacement

    • So they said to bring it in for a refund, a replacement wont be given as the price have went back to 1299. Apparently their cost price is 2.5x of the selling price. Going to try and contact the manufacturer and see what they can do.

      • Oh that stinks. That doesn't seem quite right in my books. It's the product they are providing a warranty on, not the price paid. I mean, if the Yard Force was currently retailing at $400 for example, would they see fit to replace it on the spot, as then they weren't "losing" so much? It's a bit of a weird outcome.

      • +1

Buy a new one at the full price, then return the original one for full price refund.

        • The problem is each store operates differently. I tried to call other stores which were more nice about it, but said its really up to the individual owner of the store. Bob from the liverpool store just said no exchange, just refund and he wont be ordering from the head office as all stores dont stock them anymore.

  • +1

Wow, they made me waited since Black Friday and said order will be fulfilled mid January, now they cancelled my order and issued refund. Unbelievable…why not cancel my order back in December.

  • I picked up the following to used with the solar buttery box. No luck. Solar panel blanket works fine on car battery but did not seem to recognize when plugged into the battery box. Is not compatible or was it maybe DOA? Thanks

    https://itechworld.com.au/products/50a-anderson-to-30a-ander…

    • Check the cable with a multi meter. There is a continuity test you can do to check everything is in order..

  • Reading on Ozbargain on other power station deals there seem to be returns of these

  • Just wanted to ask, out of curiosity, has anyone discharged and then fully charged using the solar input yet? My solar input possibly seems a little flaky. No probs charging off 240v ac adapter. It might be just my home made power pole lead I am using, maybe I need to source a better one. Anyone else having issues with the solar input? Thanks folks.

Discussion] Yard Force 1200W Solar Power Station

    geekcohen on 27/01/2025 - 06:31
General Discussion about the Yard Force 1200W Solar Power Station product to avoid thread takeovers and to start fresh with feedback/issues/concerns. It seems based on the recent Ecoflow RIVER 2 Portable Power Station deal that a number of the Yard Force buyers have had some issues with theirs.

luigough posted two writes ups on the product. He posted a tear down(goughlui.com) on the device which was great. But this month he posted about his failure of the power station(goughlui.com).

Woosta has also had a failure after 1 month

i didn't miss out on the deal, the yardforce lasted 1 month and died.

I was having mine sitting there for the odd occassion and backup. But now prompted me to use it a bit more to try and see if it can get it to failure before the warranty ends. Yesterday it worked okay. My solar blanket has crapped itself, so was only charging 30W and I was drawing 100W. Time for a new solar panel for this.

    Anyone else with issues?

I would imagine that these units were being sold off cheap (below cost) as I suspect a manufacturer in China went out of business and this stock was just bought up cheap. It wouldn't be worth a business attempting to repair these, assuming suitable parts were available.

I suspect that using the device while charging was too much for some part of the system and that is why it gave way. Of course it could be a faulty capacitor, but given the age this is less likely.

Seems like they might have overloaded the charging circuit to me reading the update. There was no talk about the size of the solar panels connected to the system.

My guess was too many volts/amps that the little chip couldn't get rid of the heat and gave up the ghost. Which is what the OP said looks like happened.

So stick to the stock 100w charger and don't put a crazy amount of solar panels on it, and you'll be ok!
