In short: it won’t do anything. You need to drive the car for like 30min once week at something like 80km/h for the DPF to do its work (check manufacturer’s recommendation).
I thought the product description stated: "Especially suitable for short trips and city vehicles"
So you're saying this product won't work effectively because I'm doing short trips everyday?depends on your vehicle - make, model, year.
some models have auto DPF regeneration
others require manually driving the car for a certain period of time above a certain speed so the DPF is heated to a high temperature to burn off the soot particles.Yes that’s what I’m saying. Additives have little (at best) to no (most of them) effect and regardless you still need to have that 80+km/hr for 30min+ every couple of weeks at least. Meaning you can’t remove the need to that drive by this (or any other) additive.
This is true for all diesel passenger cars as they only have passive regeneration (that drive). Trucks have active regeneration mode that can be activated manually. Bottom line, virtually all additives are snake oil and you don’t need them in most cases.
Sorry mate , not sure how you got in to that info. I drive a 2.0Liter Ford Diesel Wagon, and i drive 1000km evey 9 days on Higway , i used to think excatly like you , i tried it once and monitored the DPF Regen Frquency using Fpdf app and OBD2 . My car was doing regen every 200km before using it and after i used it was doing Regen every 400km. I do have data to support this . So give it a try and then decide.
now i add it to the tank every 5000km and car drives much more easy …my BMW does a DPF regen every 960km
@Wiadro: thats pretty good , a nearly new vehicle ???
Mine is 9 years old and 185K on spedoo, so i am happy wiuth my 400km regen
Thanks for that info. I'll see what I can find out about the LDV T60 2018 vehicles on this. 😊
HiLux owners will need to buy a pallet load of this stuff.
c'mon mate it is not that bad lol i have a Fortuner too (Silently i agree with you )
I had my DPF replaced via a service procedure from Toyota, along with the 5th injector, after the white smoke. So far so good. My understanding Toyota has extended warranty on DPF to 10 years, she'll be right.
Petrol engines FTW.
You don’t need these additives if you drive above 80 km/h for at least 30 mins every couple of weeks.
If you want to use this, pls add in fuel tank and go on freeway for Italian tuneup mode for 30 mins at least.
Diesel engines with all enviro crap aren’t viable for short trips only. Best to buy petrol or hybrid if you only do short trips.
Normal average DPF regen interval is around 800 kms.
I have a diesel vehicle and I'm not too familiar with what products are recommended for general maintenance. I only do short trips so I will try this product in the fuel tank as recommended. Are there any other products I should be aware of to help with efficiency and general engine care?
