Would this be a better deal ? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/878377

    • this is an amazing deal. If they have improved their privacy protection controls this is the best sim deal I've seen in years

Cashrewards have been unreliable from my experience

        • Agreed, especially with Optus cashbacks

    • It is if cashback is guaranteed. Reading comments from that deal doesn't sound very promising.

Runs on optus network as a second class citizen, the service is sh-thouse.

Optus prioritises their own customers over resellers on the same network. I had this last year, hated the service and went back to Boost. At times you were bumped off the network or there is no data throughput at all in areas were you had connectivity prior.

    • I can confirm this. I switched from Coles Mobile to Optus, and my data usability improved significantly. I no longer have to wait for sites to load. While it’s likely that Optus has a higher priority on the network, the availability of 5G (which Coles Mobile doesn’t offer but Optus does) also plays a crucial role.

    • Amaysim is on the Optus network and previously I had a good experience with them before I moved to Boost

  • is Coles on the Optus 4g network or 4g plus network? The Critical info summary suggests the standard 4g, can anyone confirm?

  • shame no esim

  • Need one for new school year, may be too early to buy.

Previously they were okay to activate after 30 days, probably need to re-check if still the case.

  • Great deal….but my Kogan expires late May 2025 :(

Anyone know any yearly plans that can be activated in late May?

  • Can you receive calls and sms while overseas?

    • There will be roaming charges for calls and sending SMS.

      • But how do they charge you when it's prepaid?

Do they just deplete available data or shorten the service date?

        • You need to purchase the extra service. Can have a look at Amaysim, several options available.

  • Can I transfer my current Coles phones number to this new SIM?

    • You would need to port out & back because obviously they want you to recharge at the normal price being an existing customer.

    • No, you need to port out and back in.

Coles regularly have short expiry Vodafone SIM cards on sale for a few dollars, get that.

Avoid any $2 SIM, you will need to add credit in order to activate, end up costing more than $10.

  • Any cheap plans to port out to ?

  • May be a stupid question, but can I use this for data in my tablet with SIM card?

    • From my understanding since the 3G shutdown all devices need to be able to make emergency calls unless buying a data only sim.

      • Optus blocks my Data only SIM also FYI
