its actually a decent price for a full array LED backlight TV
though it is a damage box so that also bring the price down significantlySony warehouse staff certainly do damage a lot of boxes….
probably how they try to "sell discounted" stock
Box damaged not item damaged, still have same rights under Australian Consumer Law if anything wrong with TV
So only risk is the slightly higher risk of item not working properly on arrival and needing to package it back to Sony/waiting on replacment. Hassle but for this saving worth the small risk.
Noting that Sony has recently added $99 shipping fee to their TVs. I tried various capital city and suburban post codes, even in the same city they were shipping from "Located in: Sydney, NSW, Australia". All incur $99 shipping. Their description still showing "Free Shipping Australia Wide"….
yeah I wonder if you can dispute that later?
When I enquired, Sony CS said "free delivery for selected locations only" but could not tell me which locations LOL….
Maybe if you live next to the distribution warehouse or above a Sony store /s
LOL how silly of them….."free delivery is for…..to the end of our warehouse loading bay ramp."
I bought a "box damaged" TV from Sony's ebay store about 6 months ago. Arrived in perfect condition (both the TV and the box) and has worked flawlessly.
I strongly believe that Sony does this to move stock at a discount without going through other retailers.I strongly believe that Sony does this to move stock at a discount without going through other retailers.
I think you're on the money here. Listing them as box damaged also means that retailers won't price match with them on it as well.
If you're trying to buy gift cards to save further, you can buy "Your Pick" gc via Rewards mobile app to get 3% discount then swap to ebay gc. (+ 6x rewards points, i think thats only on the first $500 you buy).

Sony need better box handlers
How does this compare to TCL C855 ?
From reviews and what people have said on previous threads, all specs seem better on the TCL 855, brightness, contrast, dimming zones etc, however X90L may have better upscaling and motion processing. They are both Android TV, but Sony may also have less system glitches.
Thanks

e.g.
Promo Code Number: SSCVDEC10-XXXXX
10% off coupon (-$182.40)Before using the coupon and with a clear browser, you could try go via shopback first to see if you can get the 7% too - https://www.shopback.com.au/sony
and possibly knock it down further depending on whether or not they reject the cashback due to coupon. Best case you get back another $120 or so - worst case you have paid $1641 for the TV new versus $1484 with the ebay box-damaged approach.
This was okay when I saw 90 in the code before I saw the 65 :'(
