      Pump it!

    • +3

I love Papa Elon and uncle Trump

    • Bluesky is a good alternative people are moving to.

      • -1

Like who? The few left loonies who are mad at Elon ?

  • +11

Did not know a premium tier existed.

    • +18

Wait until you learn about Premium+…

    • Who doesn’t love Elon

      • +25

        Sane people.

What do you like about him?

        • -5

Well he's a little better on censorship for one , but he has still worked for the military industrial complex.

          • +52

            @Murkymerv: Better on censorship?

Only if you agree with him. If you criticize then you don't have free speech, he will censor you.

            • -6

@TangoCharlieAlpha: Is Elon in the room right now?

            • -1

              @TangoCharlieAlpha: How about an example?

                  • +17

@mick123: What you have presented is your opinion, while I have presented facts.

As a right winger myself who has never voted for Labour/Greens, it appears that X has turned into a cesspool of extreme rightwing rednecks and conspiracy theorists. Algorithms have been rigged to promote absolute shite and remove critical posts.

I don't like Guardian either but I'm not ignorant to deny facts.

                    • -2

@TangoCharlieAlpha: Some level of censorship is really important. I definitely don't want my children exposed to beheadings or pornography or anything in their juvenile state.
If you want uncensored stuff just go use Tor browser and search til your heart's content.
Mainstream public media should have elements of censorship. This world is falling apart and will end up in anarchy as boundaries aren't set anymore.

                    • +7

@TangoCharlieAlpha: I run multiple X non-political business accounts which only post to our subscribers.

And literally every single one now shows ultra right wing US political content on the feed.

It really isn't subtle just how much Musk has manipulated X to boost Trump.

                  • +6

@mick123: Guardian is rubbish? What a bad take. Have you actually read their work? They make most other journalists look like amateurs.

                    • -3

@trentgibbo: The Guardian are masters at presenting cherry-picked facts to support ideological half-truths masquerading as the whole story.

                      • +6

@Mr Plow: Care to provide any actual facts or examples? I own 3 investment properties so don't tell me I'm left wing.

                        • -3

@trentgibbo: The fact that you read that slop is enough information.

                          • +7

@Vita85: Continually saying something is slop doesn't make it so. Try some reasoning.

                            • -5

@trentgibbo: Left wingers don't own properties. How many does Albo have? If there was a competition to figure out who lies more between a politician and the guardian, they wouldn't be able to declare a winner. Lying by omission is still lying.

                              • +5

@Vita85: You know there is such things as generalization. The majority of left wingers don't own properties. Yes I realize there are some that contradict this, like the prime minister (what a great example! The most powerful man in the country!)

                    • -3

@trentgibbo: Guardian and journalism in the same sentence is hilarious. Let me guess. "They represent my left wing views, so they're great journalists". The Guardian doesn't represent anyone but themselves and their 50 readers. When people say "You don't hate the media enough", they're talking about slop like the Guardian. Digital toilet paper.

                      • +2

@Vita85: Pray tell what news do you read then? My guess is daily mail and news.com. Lots of amazing articles such as "is Bigfoot real"

                • +4

@TangoCharlieAlpha: X under Elon Musk has also removed posts critical of authoritarian leaders like Erdogan and Modi. Coincidentally, Twitter had in the past refused to remove any posts under pressure from Turkish and Indian Authorities.

                  https://www.theverge.com/2024/9/4/24235213/x-brazil-suppress…

            • +1

@TangoCharlieAlpha: I'm all for criticising everyone and anyone that makes excuses for censorship, including Elon. Without it society as we know will be dead, the state will have sole authority over information and probably everything else.

Fact is big tech driven censorship has impacted thousands of hugely popular groups/pages for absolute nonsense reasoning (if they even got one), let alone the countless number of individuals. Massive scale. Too many turned a blind eye to it simply because they aligned with the socially progressive theme. Lipstick on a pig, its grossly inappropriate censorship. Further, government driven political censorship was also exposed by the Twitter files after Elon bought Twitter, and since admitted to by the Zuck for FB even saying it regrets it. Immeasurably worse than anything Elon has done to date, but even so, he should be held accountable from going down that path too!

We all need to understand its perfectly fine to disagree, a healthy democracy thrives on competing ideas and views. The only way WE the people win is keeping things open as much as possible. You do that by protecting the rights of those you disagree with as much as much as those you agree with. Our parents and grand parents understood this. If we do not, inevitably the system (censorship, govermnent policy etc) will turn on us.

              • -1

                @Xizor: Good take 👍

              • @Xizor: @Xizor Twitter under Musk has gotten markedly worse for censorship.

A good example is Turkey. Twitter used to fight censorship in court, not it just blocks all posts that are critical of Erdoğan. Now it commonly removes any tweets critical of Authoritarian governments.

                https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-65609123

I miss the good old days where you could criticise the government freely on Twitter. It used to challenge Erdoğan in the Turkish high-court, under Musk it just caves to Authoritarian governments.

            • +2

@TangoCharlieAlpha: Well he's in good company then , with the government here and abroad , haven't you been taking notice of what Labor is trying to do with media and censorship?

            • @TangoCharlieAlpha: That's blatantly false. He's had dozens of community notes put on his own posts.

You're just repeating the usual "MuSk BaD MaN" trope, and it's lame.

              • +1

                @cerealJay:

He's had dozens of community notes put on his own posts.

But he removes posts critical of Erdogan and Modi which Twitter previously never removed under pressure from authorities. No one wants this selective Free speech.

                • @TangoCharlieAlpha: They have been removed "lawfully" the government of the country. What would you have them do? Get their personel arrested?

          • +1

@Murkymerv: It's a myth that he is better on censorship.

He has given in to governments far more easily than Twitter did.

And has banned scores of people e.g. journalists.

          • @Murkymerv: Yes, better, like the LNP is better. Just don't say anything he doesn't like and he's "better".

        • Yeah we hate free speech and love msnbc

          • @Farticus: So there's a difference between MSNBC and the mainstream in OZ , if you believe that , I've got a vaccine I'd like to sell you .

            • @Murkymerv: Majority of people on here believe the abc isn’t biased, also including the likes of 7, 9 and 10 lol

            • @Murkymerv: Yeah nah you can keep you're dodgy vaccines 😅

              • @Farticus: Why ? You were prepared to take an experimental vaccine the government forced on you .

                • @Murkymerv: You realise I was being sarcastic with my first comment right?

                  • @Farticus: It's hard to tell on this platform , as you were 🫡

What's the value here? $10 a month for this

    • -5

Do you need a personal salesman for every deal?

    • +14

Chill out, it’s Ozbargain. A deal is a deal. Who cares if you think it’s worth $10 or not?

      • -6

For a deal to be a deal, it actually has to be valuable.

If somethings worth $1, but I sell it for $10 and drop it to $5, then it's not a deal, right?

        • +5

And who decides how much it’s worth?

          • +6

@askbargain: Definitely not the owner of the company according to ScruffTheJanitor !

          • -5

            @askbargain: The consumer

            • +4

@ScruffTheJanitor: Oh, totally! I also decided eggs should be $2, rent should be $200, and gas should be free. Weird how the world didn’t get the memo, huh?

      • +2

I may think it's expensive but it has no use to me, if it has use to you and you are going to subscribe then it's definitely a deal.

BlueSky is free for premium features and it now has pretty much everyone I follow on it.

      https://bsky.app/

Everyone just mirrors all their content between Twitter and BlueSky anyway, so its almost the same content.

I do find that it feels more like a little community, where creators are far more keen to chat with everyone.

        • BlueSky doesn't have the equivalent of Grok 2 AI - a highly capable AI tool with image generation.
        • Max 300 characters per post on Bluesky. X Premium the limit is 25,000.
        • Videos can't be downloaded on Bluesky without third party tools. There's other differences such media management and analytics and other other stuff.

        "its almost the same content."

        Ridiculous claim.

        • +2

          a) Why would anyone pay for Grok 2 AI when ChatGPT + Claude exist ?

          b) Bluesky doesn't throttle posts with links. X does.

          • @threeseed: a) Because ChatGPT's free tier is rate limited; only two image generations per day; and although Grok has guardrails, it's a bit more relaxed than others. I don't actually use AI much anyway, so don't care, but I've used it enough to know these differences.

            b) huh? I guess spammers might be affected by that? not sure what point you're making.

Use and pay for whatever you like. I was simply pointing out that Bluesky does not have free "premium features" as the person above claimed.

      • +2

        BlueSky

Total rubbish. Just the opposite side of the same coin.

      • Oh the left echo chamber which bans everyone who has a contrary point of view like saying there are only two genders. In a way it is good that all rabid left lunatics stay on one platform, that way I only have to avoid one platform.

  • +35

This is essentially state media now?
