Dell 27 4K UHD Monitor - S2721QS - $279.40
10% Techradar code brings it down to $250.46 (after $1 rounding at checkout lol). $17.82 cheaper than the previous deal

I asked live chat if it would go further down as black friday goes on, but the agent said "Dell.com consistently provides competitive pricing without the need for holiday promotions."

The code above expires on 05/12/24, but you can continue getting the same discount using their Student Purchase Program (if you meet the requirements which are an email with the school/uni domain name I think).

Excluded on use of coupon codes but hey let's hope it confirms.
I did it via TCB, surely 🤞

      • Worked for me $11.37 tracked.

        • Yup mine just tracked through TCB: $10.94
          Lets hope it confirms!

  • Does any one know of any cheap 32 inch 4k ips monitor. Ive seen some but they are va. The philips in the past seem like the only deal available.

    • This. Preferably with 120+Hz

    • The LG one.

I have the LG one now, and had this Dell from this deal before.

    • Lenovo L32P-30. Drops to $400 regularly. I have one as well as the USB-C version of this Dell monitor and much prefer the extra 4" at 4k resolution.

    • How cheap is cheap?

The crowd favourite atm is Dell G3223Q 4k IPS 144hz but that is like almost $600. Cheap compared to the wild gaming oled this that for over 1k but not cheap compared to these $200-$300 monitors

      • Refresh rate dont matter honestly i dont game just watch dtuff so 4k and as big as possible is important and ips. Good to know though

      • at the risk of sounding dumb - how well do work laptops handle 4k monitors, like can they?

        • Yeah depends what your laptop is running. If you get the spec you can probably find out via info about the chip and how well it runs (or if it can even run) 4k

We use mac books and some newish (3-4 yr) lenovos at work and they all support 4k

I paid $300 for this monitor in 2020. I don't think it's a very good monitor to be honest. Only reason I still use it is my cheap 144hz 1440p monitor doesn't have speakers, and built in speakers are so much easier to deal with.

    • +7

Not for gaming. But for day to day office and productivity work, it's amazing for the price

      • +2

I agree. I have two for officework. Spreadsheets, various proprietary software and they’re fabulous.

Connected the Xbox series x to one once and it was a lol, terrible.

      • +1

Same, bought two in 2021 for $300 (or just under, whatever), have them both on mounts and they have been great for everything I do.

  • Very good price. I already have LG 32" 4K but previously had these (dual monitor).

    • +1

      32” dual?

      • +1

Yep. You get used to it.

          Legend. Thx!

Word of warning, I've had this about 2 years, has developed faint horizontal lines across the whole of the screen.
Lodged a repair/replacement with Dell as it's within 3 years warranty. They sent me a "refurbished replacement" which was absolute garbage and was worse than the original, dead pixels, marks on screen.
Then proceeded to ask for a refund or a brand new replacement, both of which were denied, they only wanted to send me another refurb.
I declined and am trying my hardest to speak to anyone who will care, as I've asked for a refund and they keep ghosting me. So buyer beware, I've read if the monitor develops a fault out of a 30 day period they will only want to send you a refurb - I don't wanna roll that dice again.

    • +9

This is dell’s warranty. Just keep replacing the refurb units until you get a good one.

      • +1

I made enough noise apparently that they are refunding me…I paid 292 in late 2022…now the question is whether I roll the dice on another new one?!?

        • May I ask you how did you make the noise to get the refund, I'm thinking to return this monitor and get refund too now…

          • @superozbargain: Just through support through WhatsApp, it was an extremely frustrating process…had to push to raise a complaint etc…felt like 3 supervisors contacted me. It was a week long process, almost gave up and accepted another refurb but stayed strong.

          • @superozbargain: Anything wrong with monitor you don't like?

    • +1

I got this monitor about 40 days ago., and I got a green vertical line across the screen today… a bit regret to buy it. My old LG monitor was over 10 years, and had no issues.

  • perfect to spend the amex business credit!

    Oof 60Hz

  • +2

    No USB-C.

    • Yes the biggest negative and hence good value price.

  • Bought 2 for the front yard Xmas setup

I'd suggest to most people that 1440p 90hz+ for similar money is a better all round monitor at this size (27). Slight improvements in fidelity isn't worth the scaling issues and lower refresh rate. At this size, unless you're sitting at an unhealthy distance, there's no real increase in usable real estate.

Exception might be for media consumption/ editing.

    • +2

I disagree - the sharpness difference at comparable scaling is huge for word documents and spreadsheets.

Unless you game, there is no difference between 60hz and 144hz.

      • Majority of people don't game on their phone, yet not a single high end model is still on 60hz. It does make a massive difference to the fluidity of motion in any application.

It is all personal preference though, sharpness vs fluidity. It's the shitty scaling that windows and a lot of specialised software still struggles with that puts me off 4k in this form factor. 32 inch is another matter.

        • Using that logic, some of the best selling phones right now (i.e. iPhone 15 non-Pro lineup) has a 60hz screen and has for over a decade and no one has noticed or cared.

The reality is that it's a enthusiast feature - if you walk into a large office (i.e. a floor of a bank) and hand people a 90hz phone, most people won't be able to tell the difference.

          • @frowny: And it's one of the biggest criticisms of those phones, if you read reviews. I don't think you'd find any mainstream android phones in the iPhone price range still running 60hz displays.

If someone can't see a difference between 60hz and 90hz on a phone screen they'd have to have a medical issue. However, just because you can notice it doesn't make it mandatory, like anything some people care more than others.

As a general rule though you'll find most people arguing against higher refresh rates just haven't used them. It's certainly one of those things where you can't go back.

            • @nigel deborah: Criticisms by reviewers and enthusiasts - the reality is, the general public just do not care.

See above video + comments on thread.

The average office worker would rather have sharpness than refresh rate and as much as you scream into the void about the 'life changing impacts' of high refresh rate, hundreds of people are very happy buying this monitor with 60hz.

              https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/dell-s2721qs

              • @frowny: It was only a recommendation, and I made it clear in both posts that it comes down to personal preference. My biggest issue with this one was resolution vs size, not the refresh rate.

You're the one that comes across as offended. I'm assuming you've recently purchased one of these products, either a monitor like this or a non pro iPhone. I'm glad you're happy with them…

    • It's huge improvement in crispness of text for productivity oriented work.. might not be that big a difference for gaming or media related work..
Imagine watching a meeting recording with screen shared being set for a normal zoom level.. becomes difficult to comprehend their screen..
4k is certainly the way to go for office work now onwards..

  • Tempted. Anyone have experience of using USB-C to HDMI adaptor? Or USC-C to DisplayPort adaptor? Recommendations welcome. Trying to make it easy for 70 year old to connect laptop to large external monitor.

    • +1

I have this monitor and use this USB-C to HDMI cable with a Macbook Pro and it's fine. But this adaptor is limited to 4k@30hz, so if you want 60hz then choose that variant in the listing and pay the extra $10.

Have a couple of these for work - been using daily for the last 2+ years and love them.

  • The dell options seem to have good stands, but wondering how you could go about mounting a mini pc to the back as the stands seem to make use of the vesa mounting holes. Does anyone have experience with these monitors?

    • It's cheaper at costco for $350 and I think you can price match it at officeworks for 5% less

  • Is that right? It says it only has 2xHDMI ports, not even DisplayPort?

    • Should have 1x DisplayPort as well according to the Dell page and photos (click the "See more" button where the ports information is). For what its worth, my S2721D (essentially same thing but 2K) has 2x HDMI and 1x DisplayPort.

      • Would it share the same panel as the QC version? The one with usb c as I have that and the picture quality is top

  • Trying to decide between this one, MSI MP275Q @ $199 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/869817) and the Lenovo Legion R27qe @ $249 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/880082).
Use case is mix of working from home but also gaming on an RX6600XT.
Anyone willing to offer any informed opinions?

    • +1

I have the msi monitor and its good, but the stand isnt that good. I think the other monitor you mentioned, and the above dell ones have better stands, so I ended up getting one for a family member for $223 delivered from dell. I use the msi monitor with a monitor arm so the stand didnt matter. I think the msi has gone up a bit, which further persuaded me to choose the dell.

    • If you want height adjustable stands, then the other one might be better, as it seems to be, aswell as the dell above and the qhd dell.

  • Come next year, the price for 32 4k may be $300 mark!
