    • I’m in the same boat, except my son’s state school won’t permit any of the pad-type laptops and have stated they won’t support Chromebooks.

  • Two very different laptops, this one being very entry level gaming and the other being a work only laptop but being open to either/or. I wanted to ask what is better value? As the price differs a bit between the two.

Not big on gaming these days, so doubt I would play but if I did, it'd be a return to some form of FPS. Mostly will be used for Word, Excel and Acrobat.

  • If I get this, is the Ram easy to change and where can I get a cheap 32gb one? I'd like to learn how to do it myself too.

    • If you dont know how to change ram most likely you dont need 32gb. Dont worry just buy this and use it at it is.

  • Mux switch?

    • AFAIR LOQ models usually comes with mux switch

  • +1

I just bought one of these and the cashback is tracked.

Also if you don't mind shilling out few more bucks ($321) for a newer GPU, there is this $1040 RTX40504050 model deal for which the cashback also applies:

  • Does anyone know how long this deal along with the shopback is valid for?

    • Shopback promo runs until midnight only. Not sure about Lenovo's

  • Is it okay to buy new laptop in 2024 without thunderbolt?

  • Those who missed out on shopback offer, there is 14% off from Cashrewards

    • After this, 25% topcashbqck (i wished)

  • If you compare LOQ Essential to Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3i this is almost the exact same body. A few more ports and vents underneath, but the same.
Its disappointing, as LOQ did have a distinct look this year, one that evolved away from its Ideapad roots. But yeah, this is an Ideapad with an RTX.
Nothing wrong with that per se, I'm still thinking of getting one for my kid while its cheap. But its not the product that has earned the reputation.

  • Having a bit of trouble with the cashback. I signed up for shopback, just for this deal. It recognises the transaction but after 48 hours didn't show any cashback. I've run through the "report missing cashback" option but haven't heard anything back yet. Only really purchased this because of the after cashback price. Anyone else having these issues?

  • Does it say "tracked" in Shopback? If so, it's a long wait until the cashback is given - I see today it says 75 days until confirmed.

    • It wasn't tracked that was the issue I was having. However after filing the report it is now approved and tracked. Phew.

      • Hey, just as an aside, is your order status still " Waiting to be shipped "

        • It's been shipped. Having a lot of trouble with understanding DHL and Lenovo shipping though. If I click on my tracking link, it says "delivered" which it definitely has not been.

However, it looks like it's just one item on the waybill that has been delivered and there's actually ~120 items on that waybill originally. My individual number only shows up much further down the list. Very frustrating and convoluted.

  • Have I missed the boat on the Cashback deals? (pretty sure i have, but just want to be sure). I originally though the LOQ didn't meet one of my parameters but it does.

I'm looking at the 4060 model on their site which is reduced to $1699.

Also does anyone know if these laptops are good when connecting to an external monitor?

  • It's a nice laptop especially for $720 (after cashback). I notice when I connect to an external monitor, it switches to dgpu even if it's specified as igpu in settings. Only way I've found that stops this is disable dgpu in device manager, but then the laptop doesn't detect the second display with the igpu. It's as if output only works with dgpu. For the price, it's a nice unit.
