Kawai ES120 $759, Bundle with Stand and Pedals $999 + Delivery ($0 MEL C&C) @ House of Pianos, Melbourne

100

Good price on a popular digital piano for beginner learners and enthusiasts. Kawai Es120 has a great balance of a nice sound and action for the price.

Delivery to Melbourne metro $49 and above.
Free pick up in store.

I bought one today for my kiddo who just started learning. Compared against Yamaha P225 and Roland FP30X. Loved the Roland too but action seemed a bit hard. Yamaha it seemed lacked the feel for me but it's quite personal I would say.

Price match at Australian Piano warehouse - successful today in person in store, Melbourne.

A good review source here.

Thanks for sharing, was thinking of getting a digital piano for my new apartment and trying to pick it up again after a long break. Might jump at this if I can find a store in Sydney which price matches!

    • Try Yamaha P225 before buying anything in this range.

      • Thanks, is the Yamaha better than the Kawai or just different? Seems to be very similar price to the Kawai right now. Cheapest I can find including delivery is about $755 https://billyhydemusic.com.au/yamaha-p-225-portable-piano-wh…

Yamaha's digital sound is second to none, and second (or equal) to Steinway & Sons in acoustic. Roland and Korg are for rock bands. Kawai is underdog yet still is a very good brand. Ask other customers (not yourself and not store workers) to listen to music while playing them.

        • Hey AKJJ, just curious to see how you went here? Did you end up finding a Sydney store that price matches or go for the Yamaha P225 suggestion? Or something completely different? Any info would be appreciated. I'm looking at the ES120 and was keen to get one these Black Fri sales.

Please go to a shop and play yourself all the models you want to try in this price range. No amount of youtube reviews or reading will help as everyone's preferences are different.

You never know, you may end up liking Rolands sound and action or Yamaha features or whatever. It will keep the guesswork at bay.

    Happy hunting!

  • kids (low double digit ages) interested in trying to learn, but not sure worth dropping this many $ on a first try
Anyone seen any black friday deals for something maybe a 'rung' below this, while still decent (eg weighted keys)

see you will end up spending about $600 for a decent piano. You can think of the below.

      Roland FP10 or FP30x
Yamaha P145 or P225, ( or older P125 if you find it and budget is a constraint).
      Kawai ES120
I have no experience on the Casio models so can't reccommend but you can surely have a look at that and Korg too.

Skip the included stand and pedals for starters and buy generic to save money for now and get them later.

      Generic X-stands are cheap.

And yes, like I said before Please try in store to get a feel what you think feels and sounds good. Shop around.
Buy the best action your money can buy.
