Price History at BGO

Wingspan is a competitive, medium-weight, card-driven, engine-building board game from Stonemaier Games. It's designed by Elizabeth Hargrave and features over 170 birds illustrated by Beth Sobel, Natalia Rojas, and Ana Maria Martinez.

You are bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats (actions). These habitats focus on several key aspects of growth:

  • Gain food tokens via custom dice in a birdfeeder dice tower
  • Lay eggs using egg miniatures in a variety of colors
  • Draw from hundreds of unique bird cards and play them

The winner is the player with the most points after 4 rounds.

From the 7th printing on, the base game box includes Wingspan: Swift-Start Promo Pack.

A horrible crime has been committed on the grounds of Warwick Manor and it's up to the psychic investigators to get to the bottom of it.

In Mysterium, one player takes on the role of the ghost and over the course of a week, tries to lead the investigators to their culprit. Each night the team will be met with visions but what is the ghost trying to tell you? Can the psychics determine the weapon, location and killer or will a violent criminal pull off the perfect murder?

Absolutely love this game. Fantastic engine building game and comes with some high quality art work and pieces. The bird feeder to roll the dice is a nice touch.

Only ever played the digital version of this game. I love it but I can't imagine how fiddly the physical version must be.

    • +1

It's actually really good, one of the VERY few games that comes with removeable storage for the bits, and the bird cards are dealt from the storage box too.

    • After experiencing the digital I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy the physical more! Even without the well polished animations, amazing music and narration, something about the tactile nature of the physical game made it very engaging 😁

      • There is an app you can scan the cards and it'll play the Bird sounds for you.

  • Available on iOS and Switch. Not sure if the digital version would be better?
The digital version would have relaxing music and is cheaper.

  • I literally was just putting this on the shelves at JB hifi yesterday, we only had like two to put on though

Great - I'll try and get a JB price match on this

Mysterium for $29 also a great deal

  • I remember scrambling to get this during covid when there was nothing much else to do. Still haven't opened it…

    • You should open it, it's good.

    Mysterium will also be $29.

  • Bought this a couple years ago, opened it up.. too complicated.. haven't touched it since.

    • Setting aside adequate time to watch a video playthrough and taking some turns, it's very doable.

On a turn you choose one of four possible actions on your player board. If there are bird cards where you chose the action, get the bonuses.

Wingspan looks more complicated than it is. Watch a how to video. There’s also a single player mode so you can play & learn to teach others.
Absolutely worth learning, it’s a great game

      Here’s a very condensed 6 minute overview:

The contraption you need to put together doesn't really play a part in the game or its complexity, I was the same until I played it. Pretty much just cards and dice at its core. Way less intimidating than opening the box feels.

  • Don't have any friends to play board games with so I can comfortably skip this yay

Wingspan is excellent. My wife and I own all expansions and have played probably 500 rounds of it.

Highly recommend but balance improves substantially with the Oceanic Expansion board changes.

    • What about wyrmspan? Is it just a reskin?

I assume this is good with 2 players based on your comment?

      • I havent played it but it appears to be a reskin and my guess is it tests some new mechanics.

      • +1

wyrmspan is designed by different person
however it has input from the original desiger of wingspan, hence utlising some of its existing mechanics

i like slightly more complicated games, hence biased towards wyrmspan
not overly complicating things, just a bit more variable - a progress dial that gives u more benefits n u have to explore the 'cave' before u can place wyrms

I used this deal to buy Wingspan from JB Hi Fi for $37.25.

JB price matched Kmart, then used $10 perks code + 4.5% off JB gift card through Bupa.

      Doing OzB right!

If you enjoy the game, grab the Aussie expansion, it fixes a couple annoying points and adds a ton of birds you'll recognise.

      • will have to keep an eye out for the expansion.

      got the same today.

      $10 perks & 10% ultimate

      $35.10

Amazon also finally price matched, and stack with topcashback 20% and 10% off giftcard from previous deal, turns out to be 34.3, although it has 2 weeks delivery time. Not bad price for such a famous game, although I owned the digital copy from previous deal also.

Only 2 left at the time of posting, and 20% cashback ends in 1 hour. Hurry if you need one for Christmas.

    • Thanks. I imagine a lot of people have already gotten their cashback but I'm sure there are some that can take advantage of this.

  • +1

The oceania expansion mentioned above is pretty cheap on Amazon too when combined with the various cashbacks at the moment.
