  • no Qantas? pretty sad indictment. But I suppose I wouldn't want pollies travelling on my airline either.

Nothing to be matched. My QR privilege club it's burgundy. 😞

    • Me too , but burgundy doesn't sound as shit as it is lol

  • What's the cheapest return flight with Etihad and wondering if crediting a flight to them counts.

    • Muscat to Abu Dhabi return for $192.

Yes, crediting counts, as along as Etihad marketed and operated.

      • Awesome might just do a status match for the VA benefit.

  • +1

They appear to charge a $US49 Status Match Application Fee. I couldn't see a free Status Match option.

Less interested in the Etihad status than I am in what other airlines might match my matched Etihad status. Would be interesting if we could turn VA status into oneworld status for Qantas benefits!

    • Agreed, Etihad status on its own is probably not really very useful unless you fly with Etihad. However it may be possible to use this to get something else in the next six months.

It has reciprocal benefit with ANA which is quite good.

  • Gold status with Etihad doesn't sound very useful. Looks like you don't even get lounge access unless you get some extra points - or am I wrong?

The following is what it says on the Etihad web site.
It was the 'when you reach 75,000 Tier Miles' that concerned me.

        ……

As a Gold Tier member, you can look forward to Core Benefits, including priority check-in, baggage, and boarding. On top of that, you get to choose four Custom Benefits that suit you, such as 15kg extra baggage allowance or the convenience of our Home check-in service.

I’m wondering if you get the chauffeur to the airport with this status.

  • Hmmm… not sure everyone got the memo because they matched my Velocity Platinum with Etihad Platinum.

Although to "Keep Platinum" I need to do 40,000 Tier Miles. So no automatic extra 12 months of Platinum for just doing a single return trip on Etihad.

Although I suspect someone might wake up and downgrade me back to Gold.

  • What's the cheapest rerurn flight from Melbourne? Only Mel - Abu Dhabi??

  • Did this when it was posted, they wanted a different screenshot of my velocity page (I thought the first one I submitted was pretty comprehensive, turned out it didnt have my last name)

I ignored them for a bit then they just closed the application. Got around to sending them a new one today and their customer service team are like ice. Very disappointing but not a big loss as I can still use velocity gold perks with them until July 2025
