Daikin Air Purifier: MC30/MC30YPVM $159 Delivered @ Daikin eBay

Was browsing for air purifiers as I need a second one in addition to my MC40 I purchased in last year's deal and noticed Daikin are doing a sale on their Air purifiers again this year.

So far the MC40 has been great and low maintenance besides the once a fortnight vacuum of the pre-filter panels on the sides of the unit, the HEPA filter and Carbon filters are rated for a 10 year life-span before changing (depending on use).

Filters are available to purchase from eBay, Aliexpress or other retailers. Of course you can always purchase from Daikin distributors.

Things to note

All Daikin air purifiers employ 'Streamer Technology' that generate ozone to help 'remove odours, bacteria and indoor air pollutants', so please do keep that in mind when purchasing so if this is a concern for you check out other air purifiers.

I have noticed that it is not always on, only when odours (when ass is ripped) and when a large amount of particles are detected will it turn on. Generally on auto mode it stays in the lowest fan speed setting and is dead quiet.

The other air purifiers from Daikin also appear to be on sale, the links and prices are as follows;

MC40: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224977869261 - $349 ($319 with code PLUS120)

MC55: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224977880957 - $469 ($419 with code PLUS120)

MCK55: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/224977893967 - $549 ($499 with code PLUS120 or SAVEBF)

I'd stay away from any device that generates ozone. Ozone is a pollutant and can irritate the respiratory tract.

While it's a good deal, I had faults with two of these units where the ion streamer function failed within months. When the streamer is working it makes a very low volume hissing sound when you get close to listen. It's worth noting this to then check it in the future.

  • I did exactly the same. Having a MC40 and just bought a MC30 for smaller rooms. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks OP! Is it worth getting MCK55?

I think it depends on whether you need the humidifying function, personally I had one before but stopped using it as I found it too troublesome to keep the air purifier on 24/7 and having to constantly refill the water tank.

  • Can you turn off the ozone generation?

    It's a no-go for me if not

    • Reviewed the manual - you cannot turn it off completely. Ah well.

  • I can only assume that Ozone thing is a mistranslation, no way could a reputable air conditioning company be manufacturing ozone generators for home use…

If they really mean positive/negative ions, then I wouldn't worry about it. But O3/ozone, hard no.

Edit: I just read the blurb for the first model, I see nothing that suggests ozone generation.
