ATL for this set according to Brickhawk, part of Amazon's Black Friday deals. Tempting, but hopeful that it'll go below $200

Yeah, I hate this one. I own several mosaic sets (3xSith = Darth, world map, multiple others reconfigured) so I think that's saying something.
It would probably be better with a light kit but I still don't want it
Agree, no motivation at all to own this set. Seems like it would be awful experience finding the right colour pieces.
I disagree (I'm also a space nerd). I think you should see it in person before judging it (I guess like art). They had one of these set up in the Canberra shop and I thought it was really awesome. It's basically pixel art, using various lego colours. If you look close up at (most) oil paintings, the individual strokes are particular colours that up close looks strange. Then step back and they start to meld together into a picture. Go further and it becomes a clear image. This is how this lego set works. I thought it looked really cool from far away, then got up close and saw the hodge podge, as you say, but it works well I reckon.
is this the hardest lego set? more like puzzle for me
I assume it's using the same pieces as the mosaic sets which means rather than one large board it's many 16x16 boards. This makes the mosaic sets quite easy. The Milky way set has more variety of parts so certainly more tricky but at least they will be bagged in a way that makes it easy. As a second hand set I imagine this would be horrific to put together given all the pieces would be mixed together
It's simple and a great looking display model (Subjectively of course).
Do I just pour it out and call it assembled?
😂🤣
Was never interested in this set until I saw the light kit for it (LMB have it on sale atm too), looks quite impressive lit up.
Same, light kit from LMB looks amazing and at a reasonable price ATM.
Or buy reasonable quality binoculars for around the same money, go into your backyard, lay on your back , and look up.
( Preferably at night ).
I'm a big Lego (and space) fan and of course each to their own, but this has to be one of the worst sets I've seen in a long time. Just a random hodge-podge of weirdly selected pieces. Hopefully it looks a lot better in person, but the fact that they're asking $300 for this utterly astounds me.
