We have three new releases (descriptions have been written by Chiara, I'm not great at adding such flair!):

  • Signature Milk Tea: Inspired by the iconic taste of classic milk tea, this flavour combines a velvety, creamy base with subtle tea notes from Amino Z's signature blend of premium Assam and black teas.
  • Earl Grey Milk Tea: Developed with a blend of meticulously selected bergamot and a signature combination of rich black teas, this flavour brings creamy, milky notes for a smooth, satisfyingly elegant taste that’s true to the classic Earl Grey.
  • Caramelised Dutch Cookie: Inspired by classic Speculaas cookies, this flavour combines warm, spiced caramel with a creamy, sweet base. It delivers a rich, indulgent taste of caramelised cookies with subtle hints of cinnamon, gingerbread and other spices.

All flavours are naturally sweetened. We have transitioned over to thaumatin for the fact that it is an all natural plant based sweetener, a superior flavour profile, a neutral insulin impact (as it is a protein) and being very gentle on the gut. A bit of trivia, thaumatin is about 10x the cost of artificial counterparts (eg. sucralose) and more than 5x the cost of stevia based on weight! Our focus remains on product quality.

Five of the thirty flavours will attract a higher price point due to additional cost to manufacture and also higher ingredient costs associated with these flavours. They include the three cookie flavours (+$2.48 per 1kg bag for Caramelised Dutch Cookie, Cookies & Cream, Mint Cookie Crunch) and the two new tea flavours (+$4.14 per 1kg bag for Signature Milk Tea, Earl Grey Milk Tea). All other flavours are at the standard price.

To help guide, here are the category descriptions from the table above:

Category Description
STRAIGHT Unflavoured and optimised for macronutrients (90% protein). Due to omitting flavours and any sweetener, this is just straight WPI from the manufacturer (less than 1% sunflower lecithin added at the point of manufacture). Use in cookies, smoothies etc. Or if you just want the best macros and don't care for taste!
CORE These flavours have between 75-87% protein. They will also be low in fat (0.3-0.8g/serve) and also low in carbs (1-3.7g/serve). As a general guide, suitable if you have strict dietary restrictions and want to keep the carbs/fat down, but want something more exciting than unflavoured.
INDULGE These flavours will have 64-76% protein with a higher serving size. Notably, carbs and/or fat will be higher than most flavours in the core range, generally contributing an additional 20-30 calories per serve. These flavours will also contain extra ingredients that enhance the flavour profile. This extra latitude with macros and ingredients allows us to elevate the flavour to be what we consider amazing, while not being a complete cheat meal. Given the popularity of Aussie Choc Malt, we're experimenting with a few others in this category and have recently released our three new cookie flavours and our two new milk tea flavours.

Why 3kg this time? (Info on WPI Prices and Supply Constraints)

Previously we have done deals for 4-5kg, but given the current supply and pricing situation, we could just not make it feasible this time around. Given that we absolutely wanted to proceed with a Black Friday OzBargain deal, we felt that the best way we could proceed was to reduce the quantity. I'll provide some background.

Many retailers had a price increase this year due to the increased price of whey protein (particularly WPI). Unfortunately prices have continued to increase and supply is extremely limited globally. Currently WPI is practically not available for supply.

After speaking directly with almost 8 international manufacturers of WPI, it seems very unlikely that supply will improve in the next 3-6 months. For this reason (and as I mentioned in my video), we have had to restrict this deal to 3kg to avoid running out of stock. We also want to ensure that we have adequate supply to run this deal without having to end it far too prematurely.

To be completely transparent with everyone, it is extremely likely that we may not be able to run another whey deal in early 2025. While we do typically do a deal every 3-4 months, given the very challenging supply situation, it is quite possible that this may be the last WPI deal for a while.

Commonly Asked - Amino Z WPI / ON 100% Whey / Musashi 100% Whey (The 3 most popular proteins here on OzBargain)

In almost all of our prior WPI deals, I have been asked how our WPI compares to two other very popular products on OzBargain that we sell (Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey and Musashi 100% Whey).

One thing I want to emphasise is that we have sold all three products and despite us obviously having a vested interest in our own brand, we firmly stand behind the quality of all three products (hence why we used to stock all of them).

      @ShrimpDuck there should be three options when you select the 3kg size, but if you're facing issues, you can instead add in 3x 1kg sizes as an alternative.

      What browser are you using by the way? I haven't come across this issue before in the larger sizes.

      Yes you're correct. If you go into the "Nutritional Info" tab, you'll be able to see the ingredients and warnings for each individual flavour. The cookie flavours and the Aussie Choc Malt will all contain gluten.

          Hi @squeeb, this is because five of our flavours will attract a higher price. The three cookies flavours will be an extra $2.48 per kg and the tea flavours will be an extra $4.14 per kg (after this discount code is applied).

          Other flavours will be the standard price.

          This price difference is due to higher ingredient costs and additional manufacturing processes required on those flavours.

          The way in which it's presented is a bit confusing so we will work on improving this. Thanks for highlighting this.

              @squeeb: Yeah that's a bit of an issue. That price displayed is before any discount is applied. So with this deal, the discount is a bit over 33%. Once that applies, it will come out to the prices I've noted above.

              It's a bit confusing and we'll look to fix this. We have only recently implemented the different pricing so it's a bit of a work in progress.

    Loved the Brigadeiro. Haven't opened the other three flavours from this order yet, but also tried the Chocolate before, very good too.

    I do NOT recommend the Coconut Ice cream: too sweet and artificial for my taste (previous order #109941215, didn't use the 110% Guarantee Promise as it was out of the 30-day period when I opened).

    Hey Jay,

    Once again, you’re setting the standard in the market. My Club Z monthly membership is a no-brainer, and I have a dedicated “Amino Z zone” in my cupboards because of it.

    I know WPI has been your primary focus, but have you considered expanding your range of casein products? With your expertise and equipment, I think Amino Z could be one of the few brands capable of creating something to rival Muscle Nation’s casein custard.

    It’s essentially casein, inulin, and mix-ins, but I rely on this type of product during cutting phases. I’d much rather be spending my money on something from Amino Z when I do.

    Got 3 flavours that I haven’t tried before, hoping they meet expectations.
    Have only gone wrong once, the Chocolate Coconut, was expecting something like a Bounty but it was ass, that was a struggle to finish.
    On a side note I’ve recently started mixing the powder in Greek yoghurt, delicious!

      They need to advertise the choc coconut flavour as similar to the Aldi chocolate coconut protein bar. Its pretty much the same thing. Can see how if you were expecting bounty it could be struggle to finish. Also on the sweeter side.

      People can consume WPI for a variety of reasons. While WPI is commonly used for people who are exercising, it can certainly supplement your diet to help boost protein intake.

      With our range, our R&D leans very heavily into flavour - both quality and variety. Back when we used to sell many other brands, we found that the vast majority of fitness brands stock a core range of flavours (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry for example). So what we wanted to do is to make a range that is more accessible to the wider population with a wider variety of flavours that you can also use to integrate in your day to day (as opposed to just after a workout).

      The benefit of WPI is that it is a high quality protein with a lower fat and carbohydrate percentage (due to higher processing of the raw material).

      A lot of people don't take the recommended amounts of protein through diet:

      Adult women: 0.75g/kilogram of body weight/day.
      Adult men: 0.84g/kilogram of body weight/day.
      People who are pregnant, breastfeeding or over 70 years old: 1g/kilogram of body weight/day.
      Children: varies depending on age and growth. See these guidelines for more information.

      For men after 40yo, studies suggest as much as 2g/kg of body weight daily.

      If we accept 1.5g/kg as an average, a 70kg person would need 105g of protein, which might not be easy to get through the usual adult unrestricted diet.

      Expanding our Vegan Protein range is a priority for us. We've recently released a few new flavours and we're now up to 10 in that range. Some of the WPI flavours don't work well with a vegan base, so while we've managed to recreate some, not all will be converted over as-is. The vegan base is quite strong as compared to the WPI.

    Appreciate the 30% off the Vegan protein. Just bought the latte coffee flavour. Vegan tax in full effect here… So much more than the whey protein and with no store credit…. Worth it to avoid the animal abuse though….

    Hi Jay,

    Could I just ask what the reasoning is behind the high amounts of caffeine in the Signature Milk Tea?
    I usually do my workouts at night and I'm just a bit worried that the caffeine might keep me up at night.
    The Milk Tea flavor is also $5 Per Kg more expensive rather than $4.14 unless I'm miscalculating.

      The tea has a higher amount of caffeine from the tea itself, we actually include tea in these formulations which will naturally contain caffeine. To avoid any confusion, there is no additional caffeine added in @downhillmtbr

      In terms of pricing, once you apply the coupon code, the $4.14 extra should apply. It's normally $5 more, but this will discount the additional cost on the tea flavours in the cart/checkout. Thanks also @Eskibar

    OP, you may want to check this on your end.

    The math isn't mathing for the 5kg bundle
    When adding 5kg (all unflavored) - it turns out to be slightly higher cost per bag than the 3kg and 4kg bundles. It's not by much but it is still odd.

      In terms of FODMAP foods, whey itself is a milk derived product with some lactose, but as WPI does have a relatively low amount of lactose of approximately 1%, my understanding is that it is considered low FODMAP.

      I would be looking toward the "Core" range which are very clean in terms of ingredient profiles, mainly just WPI, thaumatin and flavouring. Anything from the "Indulge" range do contain a number of additional ingredients - for example the cookies will contain actual cookies which will contain wheat derived ingredients.

      I hope this provides some clarity. The individual ingredients are listed on the "Nutritional Info" tab on the product page if you wanted to delve into the detail.

    I've tried most of the flavours. Match Green Tea and Mint Choc Chip are my favourite. Didnt like the last two i tried, Brazilian Chocolate and Melon Milk but i forced them down anyway. Flavours are subjective though, I'm sure someone else thinks the opposite.

      That's right @ yonda-

      We did have to implement a free shipping tier on typical orders (Orders below $75.00) because the cost of shipping is increasing and it just wasn't feasible on the smaller orders any more.

      Thanks for the new order @dqtl74. Unfortunately that is the most likely situation with our WPI as there seems to be no clear idea when the current supply situation will ease. We may look towards another product, but we have no firm plans currently.

      We did @ufwpd, it barely sold and earlier this year we cleaned out a bunch of products that were just sitting on our shelves so we could focus on the more popular lines.

      We have our Amino Z Greens which does contain spirulina, but isn't straight spirulina.
