Decent chunk off this new product. I’m keen to try it to replace my old eufy’s but $1.8k still can’t justify

Though I do believe it will be a while til we see any price lower than this

at $2k should be installing a wired set of 6 cameras

Agreed, I paid about $1k for the previous gen ones (Cam 2 Pro 2K), there's no way these have doubled in quality to justify the price.

  • Good find, would have been great to have it price beat by Bunnings

  • I imported a 3 pack from the US for $1,150 AUD total - confirmed with eufy - still get the manufacturer warranty just no ACL warranty

    • Care to share the link?

Offered $629 to their official ebay store, approved - shipped to my US forwarding address (MyUS)
Then it was $131 USD from the US to Australia with DHL Express, used my ABN to void GST and Duties.

$760 USD total or $1,176.29 at todays rate, all hooked up and in use - just had to buy a $5 adapter from USA to AUS for the Homebase.

  • What EUFY product can I buy to use while I'm away for an internal camera with motorised function?

I have several wired HIKvision cameras wired to the external of the house but just want a wifi cam to leave in the house while we are away for holidays.

In terms of a garage / living room or front door cam, it's best to get something wired in, 9 out of 10 times. Battery + WiFi range issues are annoying to deal with.

But, if it has to be WiFi, check the Tapo or eufy range against the wyze v4 cams. These tend to be … ugly, but they are fairly agnostic. Good to compare against for … "watching the backyard" sic.

The comparisons and clips / reviews to look for is clips and examples of night modes and motion in dark rooms.

Because … that's when it's needed. Also factor in the price of a 64/128gb Endurance SD on top for backups and power/WiFi outages. sic. Or a cheap SD if you don't really care too much, sic.

You probably don't want a motorised PTZ/sweep camera unless you're going to attempt the setup and troubleshooting of time-of-day and why it's not working remotely. Especially if it's motion based and sunlight starts triggering motion alarms because it's reacting to it's own shadow (sic). It's a fun to have option, but it won't work as you expect it to IMO / IME.

Motor and zoom, tracking of objects and people … works … until you have to fiddle.

      Pet mode is a gimmick.

WiFi is unreliable/slow (as it's video over WiFi over Cellular) unless it has access to Cloud storage i.e. Google Nest.

Eufy, is a bit more pricey because of the base-station and the recording events done both locally and in the hub. It adds more expense generally. so the cameras won't be $50 to $100 each. The C210 and C220 don't use the Homebase/hub so they are 'cheaper'. but also slower (and have less features)

It's also Anker derivative, YMMV on how you feel about Anker.

A Wyze Cam v4 for ~$50-$60 will handle colour night vision at 2mp / 1080p, (not well), but enough that you can get a backup and motion events stored on a 64GB SD card if the WiFi dies.

The Tapo gear seems like a bargain, but it's very dependent on lighting conditions (as all digital cameras are) and distance. Wide-angle on a cheap cam won't recognise anyone. Narrow, you will end up seeing the camera staring at you due to placement / obvious locations.
