LG G4 4K OLED TV 83" $7,750 + Delivery (Free for Selected Cities) @ Appliance Central

91

Looking around at LG G4 prices and found a great price on the 83" size.

They also have discounts on the other sizes but they don't look as attractive as the 83" price.

The 77" isn't too bad at $6,658: https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/oled77g4psa-lg-77-inch-o…

Qualiry vs qaantity Oled vs projector.

  • Waiting for black friday sales to drop. Ready for a 77" G4.

    • Never thought I will say this, but that extra 6" makes a difference

        That's what she said.

Is this really a good deal?

    • +4

      not really, I ordered a 83" g4 at $6,390 a month ago at TGG

      • +2

Yeah it was that price on the EDU portal when LG were doing that spin the wheel thing last month too. Hoping there's a bit more drop during BF

      • Paid ~$6K (using $2K of GC) at EOFY deal back in July at JB, had to wait a month for delivery though

    • You negged the deal with a question? Its that really a valid use of a neg? How about doing some research and pricing this isn't the best deal for this TV right now? Sure this TV may have had better prices in the past, but that's not what a neg should be based on.

      • -1

What would you like me to spell out for you?

        • Sure, show a better deal available at this time or remove the neg.

          • -6

@Trishool: Just because something is the best price at this very moment doesn’t make it a good deal, and certainly not an aus bargain - hence the neg.

  • Geez, makes me appreciate the $1900, with a bonus $191 JB gift card I spent on my 75 inch mini led. Yes, I know it's not an OLED, but is anyone here going to say this TV is three times better than my TCL c855?

      it is…

      • +2

        I walked into that one… ;)

        it is…

OLED is better but not 3x better…

I bet that if you do a blind test between a C855 and a G4 under reasonably bright, typical home lighting conditions using high-quality 4K HDR content, the vast majority would not pay 3x the price for the G4. Mini LEDs are getting very close to OLEDs in terms of picture quality but they are much brighter for every day viewing. The fact Sony diched OLED in favour of Mini LED for their flagship TVs for this year is a very strong indicator of how close they are in PQ right now.

Geez, I dunno, I have a TCL 835 and C4 oled here, and the picture quality really is that much better on the LG. The TCL tends to oversaturate colours and the Localdimming is an utter joke. Just have to watch something like The Expanse to see this, whenever it goes to an image of a star field, there are big grey boxes around groups of stars. Maybe the more modern sets have substantially more dimming zones, but even then, its not going to touch the OLED in this situation. It was so bad i disabled local dimming until I finished watching.

Sort of like comparing apples to oranges. The C835 is not at all a good representation of current-gen Mini LEDs. Depending on the size it has 240 ~ 360 dimming zones, and an advertised peak brightness of 1500 nits, which is lower than what a high-end non-Mini LED TV offers these days. In contrast, the C855 has over 2000 zones (almost 10 times more), and a peak brightness of 3500 nits (more than twice as much). So, you can see why you can’t compare the two. Don’t just go by specs on paper or my word, why not go into a retail shop like JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, etc., and take a look for yourself? I’m sure you’ll change your mind about Mini LEDs.

P.S: I'm not saying the C855 is better or even as good as a C4, its not. BUT the C4 is certainly not 3x better either… for me its not even worth paying 2x. at most I'd pay 1.5x for a C4 over something like a similarly sized C855.

            • @opt: Wow, I didnt realise they had improved that much over 3 generations. Fair call, mine is not a good comparison.

            • @opt: A 2nd hand CX still beats the sheet out of a C855, and the same probably goes for C9’s, C8’s and C7’s. Forget dimming zones, just look at how poorly the C855 handles motion. Sport is horrible on these units.

The 83” G4 is pretty much the best tv on the market and your TCL is an overhyped mediocre piece of crap that can’t handle motion.

      • While OLED is objectively better in almost every way, I wouldn't call TCL C855 a piece of crap. Still good value for money.

        • Unless you like to watch sport. The TCL is great for cartoons.

  • A lot of money for a T.V. set. Better go warm up my CRT tube T V. receiver.
