Hah, they finally started selling these separately.

Slimmer and lighter than the standard 300W brick

I don't think this is the GaN brick based on the claimed mass of 1000g.

edit: yeah the GaN brick is 330W

    • My legion i7 is 330w… do you think the laptops demand will fry this?

      • +1

I think the worst thing that would happen is the charge % wouldn't increase if you're maxing it out.

        • It will probably just refuse to power the GPU

      • No, mine came with the 300W and runs fine on the 230W brick.
(Won't charge at all off a 135W slim-tip but it will off USB-C, go figure…)

        • lenovo's charging stuff is fking weird.
They have apparently a 160w USBC charger, but it's non Oz, and also doesn't fit any of the USB-C PD protocols….

That being said the 330w is not as heavy or bulky a monster as the Asus ROG offerings. OMFG.

I've successfully keep the laptop on using a Cygnett 140w (CY4531PDWCH) but if I do a session of SpaceMarine2, the battery will slowly drain till you get the low battery warning, despite the charging.

The other one I've been considering has been advertising on Reddit lots: SlimQ. Apparently they made a big revision for us Lenovo people as it was causing issues with trackpads. I'm hesitant, but you know. I also don't want to lug a 1t brick with me in a few weeks as I do the xmas round with rellies.

If you guys have alternatives, please light me up.

Says AU but one of the photos show UK plug. Lol.

Here's looking up to you OP. Thx

    Good price.

My charger for legion 5 pro was intermittently charging last year and I ended up buying a non-genuine one from ebay for $100. Pretty sure genuine at the time was $250+

  • Good to grab if you have any lenovo points from a purchase, they expire way to quickly.

  • +1

Christ, I needed one of these for work but everything was way too damn expensive so discovered that 100W USB C or Thunderbolt charges the Legion laptops just fine.

    • +5

It'll charge no problem, but my Legion 5 Slim with a 4060 in it won't run the video card without the actual power brick unfortunately.

      • +1

        Yeah that tracks

  • Does the original charger that comes with the laptop etc fail often?

    • +2

No, mine is 3 years old, accidentally left it under some pillows while gaming and it overheated tripping the thermal protection, when it cooled down it works fine again.

    • same, 2021 purchase, still going strong, no issues, just super convenient having a second.

    • +2

No, the original charger just really big and heavy. It's like carrying a brick. The fact that it's so large, probably means it's more reliable than and less likely to fail due to heat compared to other chargers.
It's more convenient to have a spare for portability sake.
I currently use a SlimQ 330w when I'm on the go, as it's a lot smaller, but considering getting this Lenovo as spare. My SlimQ adaptor died in 11 months and got it easily replaced under warranty. If it lasts, hopefully my SlimQ can also used for my next laptop with just an adaptor plug kit.
Previously I would charge my Lenovo Legion via USB-C 100W on the go, but found it unreliable.

      • OH! A slimQ user in the wild!!
        1. what legion have you got
        2. did you get weird track pad issues
        3. did they replaced with a revised version.
        4. Did you go SlimQ direct or Amazon

          1. Legion 5 Pro-16ACH6H - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
          2. Been fortunate enough so far not to notice any track pad issues. But tbh I don't use that often since I prefer to use a small wireless mouse for better accuracy/ergonomics (there's a lot of cheap ones on alix). I do remember seeing a post on a subreddit about SlimQ causing them to have trackpad issues, but trackpad issues can also occur with the normal charger sometimes…
          3. Not sure. I'm presuming they did, since I only had it replaced one month ago. The charger model number appears to imply it was manufactured in 2024 instead of 2023. The cables also appear to be slightly newer.
          4. I bought via SlimQ directly around Black Friday last year.

  • Has anyone used this one on a Legion Pro 5i?

    • +2

I had live chat confirm this was compatible with my legion 5 pro (amd) 4070 based on the laptop serial number, i cant imagine it doesnt work on intel too. Maybe get live chat to confirm based on your serial number for peace of mind.

Thanks OP🏉got one as a spare for my legion 7i pro 4080, main is the gan 330w

    • +1

It wont. Its using dedicated power plug, not usbc

    • +1

      Completely different connection unfortunately

      • Ah ok, thanks for confirming 👍

  • Is it compatible with yoga series?

    • Why would you want such a big charger? Also this is not a USB C charger. Yoga only needs 65W, 300W is overkill and you'll get no benefit from it.

      • True.

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought a 7i pro earlier and got $92 reward, was struggling to find a product to use the reward for. This is perfect.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Ordered as spare for my Legion 5 Pro.

  • Does it handle other voltages? Even if it is slightly less then 300w.

    • You only have to watch the output voltage and this one is 20v, that being said the chargeport of lenovos have a chip in them that tells the laptop which power adaptor is plugged in.

  • Anyone know the difference between these 2 chargers and why one is $199 and the other is $99:
    https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/accessories-and-software/char…
    https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/accessories-and-software/char…
And if either would work with my Legion Pro 7 16IRX8

    • One is slim the other is standard size.

      • The pictures are identical

        • Just get the cheaper one lol
