No UNAS Pro… FFS why are Ubiquiti products so slow to Australia.

Solid sale, thanks Op. Just annoyed at Ubiquiti.

Who's wagering a complete mess up again by wireless1 peeps during their sale? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/861570

    • +1

so they had a 19% off coupon before, might wait to see if they have better deals for BF

      • +6

Yeah but look at u7 pro as a benchmark, was $281 during the "19% sale" but $271 here during "15% sale". Look at net prices.

  • Thanks.

U6-pro for $237.15 with free delivery

    • Why not the U7 pro?

      I've used a UACv2 (wifi5) for 6 years. I want to go wifi6 or wifi7.

Deciding if the U6 pro is worth is over the U6+.

Any reason you choose the U6 pro?

      • Hearing a lot of concern with the u7 pro which has a fan in it.

U6 pro is better than u6+

Wasnt worth the heat issue of the u7 pro for me, speed difference will be negligible for my use case.

        • I’m considering the U7 Pro.

Are you able to share a link to the concerns? The only thing I’ve read is “it has a fan, oh no” - nothing substantive.

          • @Chuppa: If you google it, plenty of forum discussions

Might be better off waiting for one of the 30% off woolies marketplace sales - where you can order Ubiquiti gear from wireless one

  • If someone is able to offer some advice please, I currently have two UniFi UAP AC-Lite’s in my house but need an additional one. I don’t have access to when it was set up though (a company did it). Do I need to get the same model? Can I a U6 Plus instead for example? Happy for any suggestions people may have.

    • +1

Yes you can get a different AP model, so u6 plus in your case is fine. You'll need access to the admin page which I assume you do.

What is your AP connected to? I.e. what's your router? I'm asking to check if you have spare ports with poe

      • Thanks @lawyerz! You'll get the idea that I am not too familiar with this yet… how do I know if I have access to the admin page?
My AP's are connected to a Netgear router but both use a PoE injector. I just took a look up where it is stored and forgot that my switch and router are currently full, so probably need to look at getting a larger switch. Unsure if it's worth getting a PoE switch or just get an additional injector.
Is it worth getting a U6 Plus or is there ones that people are suggesting?

        • U6 plus seems reasonably cheap and will work fine.

An unmanaged, non-poe switch on AliExpress is very cheap and will work fine with an additional Poe injector, which will be the cheaper option.

Or you can get Poe switch, which is the more expensive option.

Oh, if you're not using a unifi router, don't think you need to login into the router even. I'm not very sure how to set it up as a standalone AP, did it before 10 years ago but completely forgotten now. You just need to configure the AP directly and manually, think the Unifi app can do this but I'm not sure how. Someone else can advice on this. Do you have any other Unifi hardware? Cloudkey?

Usually ppl pair it with Unifi router to maximise the benefits of the unifi ecosystem, you're paying extra for this ecosystem after all.

          • @lawyerz: Thanks both @lawyerz and @yojabbajabba - very helpful. Once I am game enough I will look into resetting so I can self-manage. Will keep an eye out for a U6+ or Pro and find a larger non-poe switch. Thanks for your help, appreciate it.

    • I don’t have access to when it was set up though (a company did it).

You can reset the AP using the reset button, and configure it yourself to your liking.

Man dream machine pro for $618. That's a deal. Debating whether it's worth getting wifi 7 APs though.

  • +1

u7 Pro for $270. Been waiting ages for a decent deal on these and this will do nicely. 2 ordered with a UCG to finally update the home wifi situation.

  • Been thinking about upgrading from usg3 + UAP-AC-LR setup. From what i can tell, u7-pro has 2.5gbe ports which makes me assume that it’s only worth upgrading to if you have 2.5gbe ports upstream yeah? This would require new gateway / switch.

    • Correct. At that point you’d consider want the UCG Max ($325) with a POE injector, or go straight up to the UDM Pro ($579ish) with separate POE arrangement

    • I still went for the u7 pro even though i won't have 2.5Gg upstream. These are my first Ubiquiti products and it wasn't much extra to upgrade from u6 Pro to u7 Pro and I figured it should keep me ready and allow me to upgrade the supporting hardware in the next few years when 2Gb internet comes in.

  • +1

UCG Ultra is at an ATL of $152.50 delivered; It sucks for those who pre-ordered theirs at $239

    • +2

Was considering it, but not having 2.5gbe just feels like a big negative in 2024. Might just be me.

    • Great price, just purchased a UCG Ultra.

  • Shame the UCG-max isn’t stocked, hanging out to grab one when on sale!

      • I think Geediggity87 is referring to the "Cloud Gateway Max" and not the "Gateway Max" you've linked.

        • Yeah, easy to tell with the lack of the LCD screen on the front.

  • Cheers, bought a UCG ultra to upgrade my home er-x, and a unifi express for the parents 👍

  • Trying to decide if it's worth paying more for the U7 Pro Max, CentreCom has them for $469. I don't have a switch with 2.5G ports, so prob not, but Max has 4x4 vs Pro 2x2.

    • Hardly any devices support 4x4 so its not a big deal, prob get better coverage by going 2 x U7 Pros instead…

  • Wait for black friday? Or go for this

  • anyone got their orders yet? seems to be stuck in processing. could this be like last time when there were significant delays?

    • Nope, no notification of shipping yet.

    • Mine says its onboard with courier to be delivered in the next day.

    • I got notification my order wont be sent until the end of November!

Not super impressed to be honest

Classic Wireless1 - No stock of Access Points. Just got told estimated shipping date is next week but no hard date.

Did they really not learn from last time.

  • +1

Just got told UCG is in stock but Access Points are not being shipping until next week at the earliest. Ridiculous.

    • +1

Ahh this just saved me a phone call. Thanks. Disappointing though

  • +1

I ordered two U7-Pro's but I cant see them on the website anymore. Im a little nervous and hope they do ship them when they can.

    • +1

Same - got told today they aren't going to be shipping until late next week (and I take that with a huge grain of salt considering the cock up they had last time).

I'm trying to just get my money back anyway - there should be more Black Friday sales coming up soon.
