Again an OzRRP post but Valve have just announced a new variant of the OLED Steam Deck which will be immediately available in Australia for order on the 19th alongside the rest of the other models.
It'll be a white variant with off-white buttons, a white case, polishing cloth and charger bag, just like the original translucent limited edition (with different coloring of course)

It would be close. The Xbox has the advantage of dynamic resolution scaling and other benefits.
But, side by side it would be close. Obviously the 7" screen and battery would effect the experience.
The Z2 chipset would be based on a Zen 5 Strix Point APU series, currently in the Ryzen 9 AI HX370 laptop chipset, that can run Apex Legends, Cyberpunk 2077 at 50FPS or higher at 1080p.
The 890m chipset in the HX370 works at the 15w and 30w TDP / laptop profiles, the same as the 780m APU in the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.

Already have the 1Tb limited edition and it's fine.
My recommendation is if you don't get it during the first hour, retry again after an hour or two. Valve staggered the release to mitigate scalpers and bots.
I think I was able to get my limited edition after 2-3 hours after we were allowed to order the deck.

Some games I play indicate non compatible with steam deck, can you still install it on the deck?
Depends on the game. Most of them will still work, but may require some tweaking in settings to get it to run well. Generally, it's small text which cause many games to not be fully 'verified', but almost all games will install and work to some extent.
oh, well ill have to do some research on this then, see what games i have on my list that will be compatible.

I don't know if I can resist.. I always liked the white Deck shells and other white consoles in general is my preference these days so this one is very tempting.

there was some sort of voucher on eBay plus, not sure targeted or not. EB Games eBay with voucher SNS something was $269 delivered. considering that it comes with 12m online and expansion pack that's not bad I think.. even for a 7y old tech lol

Already have the matte LCD model with an upgraded SSD and hall-effect joysticks… but this is tempting… LE and OLED…
Some folks are saying battery and screen are absolutely worthy of the upgrade. Others are saying it's not that much of an upgrade.
I'll probably err on the side of caution and not make the same mistake as I did with the Switch OLED (upgraded from LCD and in the end it wasn't really worth it) as my SD LCD is still kicking, upgraded and perfectly fine, but damn the white version looks nice.

Nope. Especially with ultimate being able to be added to your phone. Today I went to Big W, bought 2 x $100 ultimate for everyone gift cards for $90 each, added them to mobile wallet, walked to JB and purchased 5 x $20 steam cards, then walked to EB and did the same.

if you got some steam items from csgo or tf2 that you're aren't attached to, you can liquidate some of it into offsetting some of the cost

There's no way the Z2 is a Series S level experience
