Original Coupon Deal
Thought I would post this deal separately since normally this phone is ~$500.
My Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 stopped working after the 3G shutdown. I wanted to get the Moto G54 or a similar phone.
This phone has the features that I want (5G, eSim, NFC, 3.5mm jack, dual sim (hybrid with SD card slot)) with a larger memory/storage size.
I tried the TCL NxtPaper screen in store and quite liked it.

Full specs here:

Compare b/n this and Moto G54
https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=13300&idPhone…

P.S. Just setup the phone and tried the screen some more. Compared to my Xiaomi (409ppi normal glossy screen), the matt texture of the TCL screen (395ppi) makes the text and icons appear slightly less sharp.

This is part of Click Frenzy deals for 2024

  • With that kind of screen will thr baterry last weeks????

It says if you use the max ink paper mode it should last a week…we will see.

Doesn't look like a true E-ink display, it's an anti-glare 120hz IPS panel with whole bunch of diffusion layers built into the display to soften the image and makes it look like paper.

the battery life savings comes from switching the device into a 'dumbphone', basically underclocking the CPU, putting it into super-low power mode with limited features and apps

  • I really need a spare phone right now since my old Xiaomi is no longer allowed.

The CPU on this phone doesn’t look very good.

    • I was thinking about buying one of these, because I read a lot of books on my phone. But it's aiming at a very niche market of someone who doesn't want a seperate ereader but doesn't need a powerful phone.

IMO they should make an 8" tablet with this display around this price, it'd be great.

    • Why is it no longer allowed?

  • +2

And they force us to buy local with specs thats 2x price of similar phones on aliexpress

    • -2

      2x price

      Really……pls list the KEY specs/features (2 ish) that you-re looking for & a link to best-price phone?

      Pls spell-out the criteria AU-carrierS block-phones?

      they force us

      May be it's our IN-flexibility to find alternatives / do-without / fit-in ?

      Why's it that we hold-on to things & can't let-go ?

      • pls list the KEY specs/features (2 ish) that you-re looking for & a link to best-price phone?

The aim here is to prove that someone will suggest an existing (or recent-deals) that meet your-criteria with similar-price. Motorola have being offering up-to 50% off their retail-prices since 2023. Samsung A35 were 45% off for 3 months, ended Oct-24.

        Pls spell-out the criteria AU-carrierS block-phones?

The aim here is flag the HIGH-risk in buying parallel/grey-imports.
Anyone, feel free to share a link to Telstra/Optus/Vodafone that publish the criteria/specs that buyers can check their propose-purchase, lol.
At least when you buy phone that has AU-warranty, if it's block, you can get refund…NOT a small-shop that owner can run away, lol.

Feel free to neg, but do provide a reason so that it CAN-be FACT-CHECK, lol.

Maybe look at the g85 OP for 289 that sounds a bargain as compared to this one at 439

  • I love e-ink displays and matte screens, but I don't think this is worth it. Have tried the demo unit but it's not a hell of a lot better than my existing phone with a matte screen protector.

  • Why would your Redmi Note 8 stop working? It should still support 4G bands

    • Nothing to do with that. We're at the discretion of the telcos now whether they deem it "safe"

My Redmi Note 9 Pro and Poco X3 Pro are both 4g and emergency 4g compatible, still blocked (apart from the Poco on Telstra)

  • how many OS updates is supported?

    • will get Android 16

  • I have been looking at this phone as it supports a 2TB Micro SDCard…

  • I am still waiting for TCL 20 pro android 12 update. I would more likely look at buying this if 20 pro got more updates.
