How does this compare to the Xiaomi curved one that was posted the other week?

    • I have both. Xiaomi, unless you game FPs then LG.

  • I suppose I could stack this one on top of my old Xiaomi UW?

$319 if you have PLS250 available.

I ran 2x 34"s vertically stacked.. not sure how far back you'll be sitting but the top monitor was pretty much unuseable for me - too much moving neck upwards (uncomfortable). It certaintly looks cool though lol

      • +2

What about side by side ? I need more screen space then my curved 34" Dell is providing

        • +4

I was in the same situation about a month ago, when I realised 1x 34" wasn't enough screen space for work. Gaming is OK though.

2x 34" IMO would be too wide for comfort. I've always liked a 2x 27" for work at my office as it gives me the best work productivity, but i couldn't do it for home as 1 screen would be too small for gaming and using both with the bezel in the middle would drive my OCD insane.

I ended up with a 49" which is esentially 2x 27" in size without the bezel in the middle, so great for work and awesome for gaming that supports the 5120x1440 resolution. I'm pretty happy with it and I think you will too as long as your budget suits of course.

          • @Mingles: Thanks for the advice, what did you end up with ? and what would you recommend ?

            Before my 34" I had a 30" and 27" side by side. I had also thought of 2 x 32" flats

            • +1

@ruprectaus: because my previous 34" was an OLED, I honestly couldn't downgrade so I went with the Samsung Odyssey G93SC 49".

I guess it all comes down to what you'll be using it for and what your budget is. Is work more priority or gaming?

          • @Mingles: What GPU do you have driving all those pixels? 😲

            • @CommanderShepard: I'm using a 4070ti which is not too bad! I sometimes watch youtube videos to optimise my graphic settings and turning on DLSS is an absolute godsend! I can't run everything at ultimate settings unfortunately so need to turn the heavier things like Ray Tracing down.

Better to have one rotated vertically

      • As someone who has used a portrait 34” ultrawide - I found it pretty cumbersome, personally! I can do portrait 32” 4K, but portrait 34” was too much for me. YMMV

Personally, I would try stacked or side-by-side first - see what suited my personal usage better.

Fwiw, I was running 34” ultrawide with 32” 4K to the side (switching between landscape and portrait), with laptop monitor below the 34”. (But have recently replaced the 34” with a 40” 5K2K.)

If you want to stack, don’t just put the top monitor above your current one - it will be too high (as Mingles found).

You want to move the bottom monitor down as much as possible, so the top monitor can be lower, and in a more comfortable position to use. (Imagine it was one large screen being positioned.) I actually run a two-tiered desk, so my keyboard and mouse are actually above the surface of the lowered main desk, to allow monitors to be positioned lower effectively.

The ideal (ergonomically) is actually the top monitor being your main monitor at regular height (or slightly above), and the lower monitor below and angled towards you at the bottom. Although that works better with a flat monitor, imho.

Reason being that your neck/eyes can more easily look down rather than up. Looking up will cause more neck strain. So having a second monitor below your main monitor is better than having a second monitor above your main monitor.

      Hope I’ve explained that properly!

      • That makes lot of sense!

      • Your desk setup sounds pretty slick. Can you share any pics or links?
I run 2 x 27” 1440p side by side and I’m planning on grabbing a 14-15” portable monitor to sit under one of them for to-do lists and teams.

        • I'm not sure I would call it "slick"…more "cobbled together", lol.

I dont have a photo of my setup, and I'm actually on parental leave and switched it up for my wife to use (she only wanted to use the 32" 4K). But I'll be switching my monitor arms up a bit at some point, so I'll try to remember to take a photo, and tag you.

But please keep your expectations in check - my setup is not a beautiful "battlestation" like from Setup Wars, or the like! It's purely functional, and only possibly of interest because of its unconventional nature! :)

I have a pretty small desk so I had to have the 24 - flat monitor on top and this one at the bottom slightly angled up.

Ideally, I would have the 34 curved at the top as my main then the smaller one at the bottom slightly angled up but that would require me to sit quite far from the monitors which is not possible. Below is my current set up: https://ibb.co/WyL4y8S

      • Cheers, currently playing the how low can it go game with a tape measure πŸ˜‚.

      • Isn't the 24" shorter than the ultrawide? Why would you have to sit further away?

Is that because you are placing the bottom monitor in front of the top monitor - so if the ultrawide is at the top, the bottom monitor would be sitting in front of the curved sides that curve forward? If so, you could just put the bottom monitor behind the top one instead of in front of it.

Or would you have to sit further back because of ppi issues (ie. being closer to the lower ppi 24")?

    Was just looking at this!
MSY has $349 for pickup. https://www.msy.com.au/product/lg-ultrawide-34in-qhd-100hz-v…

One thing to note there is no USB C port and its VA panel. Not that I'm complaining at this price point. Lowest 34 inch monitor with with USB C is ACER XV345CURV at $459

    • You can get the Dell S3423DWC for $431.64.

I hate these short arse 1080p and 1440p monitors..

    Looking for a 34" 3840 x 2160p monitor.
    Any recommendations?

    • +6

      You mean 32''?
34'' usually refers to 'ultrawide' category that is 21:9 ratio, while 27'' and 32'' and standard 16:9 ratio monitors.
Plenty out there. One of the good value is LS32D700EAEXXY https://www.msy.com.au/product/samsung-32in-uhd-va-monitor-l…

Even at 1440P 34 inch is very sharp at 40cm away from the screen. I would recommend looking at IPS rather than VA if you are not a gamer

      • -3

        Yeah want a 34" 3840 x2160 monitor.
Someone has to be able to make them.
I want screen real estate rather than outright picture quality.

        • +4

Well not really, there aren't any even if you find one it will be odd one out. You cant just ask for any inch monitor at any resolution. There are industry standards, they arent exactly 'short arse' ing it.

          Let me elaborate.
          Pixel counts:
          1920 Γ— 1080 = 2.07 Million Pixel
          2560 Γ— 1440 = 3.69 Million Pixel
          3440 Γ— 1440 = 4.95 Million Pixel (21:9 34 inch wide angle) 21:9
          3840 × 2160 = 8.23 Million Pixel
Notice the difference between two 1440p options.

If you want more real estate than 32 inch standard monitor then you go into region of 'TV's where monitor features are afterthought. Also when you beyond 32 inch even 4K will have lower pixel density. Due to exponential increase in 'area' of a screen.

Your best bet is to look at 42 inch

          • @ashyboy: I think 42" is too massive for a computer monitor, sitting roughly 1m back. I think the human head would be rotating side to side all day.

I currently use two 32" 2160p monitors for spreadsheets and Adobe work. I would upgrade to two 34" 2160p monitors, or even 35-36" monitors. But like you said, what I am after is not an industry standard size so that's sad atm.

            • +1

@DeeTrance: Even if 34'' existed I dont they would bring you good value my friend.
I had similar setup as you then I used 34 inch 1440P monitor at work. I dont think I can go back to 2*32'' monitor ever again!
One of the things always gets on my nerves is when I copy cells and click somewhere else before pasting and then it leaves the copies text. No more on widescreens! Cos you can stack windows on SAME SCREEN! Trust me you have to try it.

Check PPI on this link - https://www.displayninja.com/what-is-pixel-density/

Something like this is big investment. If you get time on the weekend go to JB and try their 34 inch widescreen demo screens (whichever) then you'll know how good this deal is at this price

  • Pulled the trigger. Thanks op

  • Is this good for gaming? I am looking for a deal for work/gaming monitors

  • Besides price and refresh, is the HP Omen 34c better?

  • And I just bought a Dell S3423DWC for $430…

    • Same here.. i am going through a tedious process as I had just got a replacement for a dead pixel too

  • What is the refresh rate through hdmi cable?

    • I believe it's more how much bandwidth your cable can handle. I know when I was looking to buy DP/HDMI cables, they all advertise as 8K 60hz, 4K 120hz, etc, etc… but at the end of the day, it's all about how much bandwidth the cable can carry.

A quick google shoes me that HDMI 2.0 supports 4k at 60Hz - or you can keep halving it to get the rest of the refresh rates such as 2k at 120hz, or 1080p at 240hz.

HDMI 2.1 is a massive improvement over 2.0. It can run 8k @ 60hz, or 4k @ 120hz, or 2k @240hz. I'm able to run 5120x1440 at @240hz so it all comes down to the bandwidth. It also supports features like eARC and dynamic HDR as well which 2.0 didn't.

Samsung 34" ViewFinity S65VC Curved WQHD Webcam, LS34C650VAEXXY
$ 379 at Samsung shop app

    First time buy: 5%
    Trade-up: $200

    $379

    • This seems like a fabulous deal. You can trade in any old monitor and they will pick it up and recycle it.

1000R screen too which is more curved and immersive (though will distort a bit more)

    • +1

Thank you so much! I was just about to go for the Dell 34" USB C monitor until I saw your post! I also managed to get a 10% loyalty voucher through chat, plus traded in my old monitor and used the 5% first-time app discount, bringing the total down to $341.14. Couldn’t be happier!

      • What was the magic words that you used to get loyality discount voucher?

        • 341.14 after getting loyalty voucher via Chat with Agent.
As long as you have Samsung appliances, you may get loyality voucher.

          It should be a deal.

          • @HDay: good to know that you managed to get one too from the chat :) they asked me for a screenshot of my phone's serial number and generated the voucher for me. you should post it as a deal :)

          • @HDay: how do you get to chat? the button doesnt seem to work and ive made sure all my blockers etc is off.

            Also tried multiple browsers.

            • @rollin: I used Samsung Shop App on my phone. It has three dots at the top to the right, which opens a chat with Samsung agent.

              • @HDay: legend. Thank you mate. For some reason its not working on their website.

I ordered the monitor on the app + loyalty voucher for $341 delivered. Cheers! I was about to pull the trigger on a dell 34 for $470!

                • @rollin: Same here, just pulled the trigger.

    • What is the overall difference to the LG monitor on this deal with the samsung S65vc (apart from the webcam). Would the samsung one be much better in terms of viewing experience?

Seems like samsung one is a great deal!

  • I just cancelled my order. Still hasnt been shipped. Ordered 10 days ago!
