  • How do the Outliers compare to Shokz? I've been daily driving aftershokz trekz titanium and aeropex for yeeeears. These are half the price, are they half as good or what?

    • Can’t answer your question, but the prices are pretty similar to amazon…

  • Aurvana Ace 2 get some mixed reviews, but are at the frontier of new driver tech. Anybody got experience with them?

Pity they stopped doing the Outlier Pros, Airs and the rest of that range.. they had awesome battery life and I preferred that form factor

Fantastic discount, but on the TWS IEM front at least it's mostly falling into line with other existing offerings:

SoundPeats Capsule3 Pro+ for $101.59 @ Amazon - this is their xMEMS + DD competitor, utilising LDAC for max quality instead of AptX Lossless, with a different dynamic driver, and the unit is tuned a bit better out of the box but still needs EQ to really shine. No LC3 support, battery life is about the same when maxing out sound quality with ANC on. Arguably better ANC and microphones, but nothing putting it into flagship Samung/Apple territory.

Moondrop Golden Ages @ Amazon - a planar TWS with the best out of the box tuning you're going to get (no EQ necessary), but mic & ANC suffer comparatively. LDAC and LC3 are offered and battery life when pushing quality with ANC on is again about the same. Timbre may sit a bit further behind, but the xMEMS + DD combos will have a timbral difference either side of the crossover (3.5kHz). This will go on sale for around $100 in a few days.

Comparatively, the Ace 2 goes for a warmer and more v-shaped sound than the above options, resulting in a bloated bass for some, but you can again just EQ that down. It's honestly a very close race between all 3 unless you're very certain about your ear shape or want a little more ANC capability.

Again, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these, and outside of ANC and mic it comes down to some slight personal preferences or potential fitment quirks. You're not going to get better sound quality than this for TWS IEMs (aka what people now called wireless earbuds) until you head north of $300, and that's a segment that's also now driven by demand for ANC and related transparency features, and all the R&D being sunk into that.

    TLDR:

Android: Creative Aurvana Ace 2 (EQ it)
Apple (maybe also non-Qualcomm Android): SoundPeats Capsule3 Pro+ (EQ it)
    Calls/ANC: SoundPeats Capsule3 Pro+ (EQ it)
    No EQ: Moondrop Golden Ages

This probably reflects the beginnings of a clearance sale, but it's great to see a highly competitive space that delivers value for consumers.

    • Where did u put the code in???

  • Just when you get to check out your cart, it's fairly standard . Mind you, it's 50% of retail price, because there is already a small discount active before you put the code in

Actually a bit cheaper @ $111.96 with the Black Friday Code BF24

A word of warning about the Aurvana Ace 2, they’re terrible for outside use with ANC enabled since it picks up wind noise with even the slightest breeze. I have to disable ANC when outdoors when using them because that wind noise is annoying.

  • Thanks OP

  • Their website sucks today and keeps dropping. Very strange.
