Came across this while browsing for cabinets on ebay. Looks like a really good deal for the 12RU size. Most 12RU cabinets cost $300+.

    Nice rack ! ;)

It's only 400mm deep; most of the $300 ones are 600mm deep.

Most of the time, you need the 600mm deep ones for most rack-mountable items. This is good if you got small shelves to then put your stuff on like an NVR etc.

Agreed, this is for a branch office to store a switch and router and maybe a small UPS. If you want to host data centre stuff you will likely need more depth.

    • +1

Definitely this. This would do some networkign equipment but not any decent sized servers. Even short depth server chassis would struggle in this.

I've got a rack very similiar to OP but it's 600mm deep. Even that is cramped with two silverstone cases, a switch and a patch panel.

I bought one from these guys. Cheap and nasty but gets the job done. I was happy overall.
I had to get it replaced due to damage in the delivery and the key lock doesn't really work. It can't be tightened strong enough due to gap between glass lock.
I got the smaller one which did the job. A little cheaper than this and eBay plus gets another $10 off. Id still buy it again if needed.

    Hope it helps 🙃

  • I was after one for home , but thinking 4U should be more than enough - router, switch and perhaps one NVR in the future?

Go 6RU. I've got a 6RU for a Ubiquiti Dream Machine, Starlink Router and a few other bits. Got a shelf to put in there for my NVR to sit on. Its already pretty full with a 6RU.

        Good to hear.
I was initially thinking of a 9RU for home.
I have a SFF,a few Micro PC's and some networking grear.

From what ive learnt in the past, go bigger than you need today

        • Thats true. If you have the space, go for it. I had to get mine into the top of a hallway cupboard, so I was a bit restricted.

No ventilation design? Are they trying to make a bomb? Servers generate an enormous amount of heat!

    • +1

There is ventilation, it's just minimal with no space for rack fans.

its 300mm deep, you're not really putting servers in here, likely just some networking equipment, which although it still needs cooling, doesn't need half as much cooling as a server would and would get by.

  • Does anyone know if this would happily fit something like the Unifi switches that are 325mm deep? (Pro Max 24 POE)

I'm I understand the rack is 75mm deeper than the switch itself, but a bit daft in understanding if cables are likely to foul on the door or otherwise have issues closing it. I have an upcoming use case but no experience in this regards

    • +1

Best add in space on both sides the powercable on the rear IEC cable sticks out a bit.

    • You should be fine. I haven't put the glass door on mine yet. Cables from patch panel to switch have sufficient room at the front. Plenty of room at the back. I don't like how they only give dimensions of the chassis and not maximum size of rackmountable hardware.

  • I have a pair of R720s
1m deep racks are like $1300

    agggg

  • Anyone who has one of these are they definitely only 540mm wide? I have a 550mm space next to a mains board and an existing rack which is 600mm wide…

    • Amazon shows 600mm wide for this from this seller
